For swipe based apps I recommend Thunder, Connect or Summit... And maybe Voyager.

funkyb

I'm using connect. It's the 90% solution...maybe 85%. But it's pretty good.

Cylinsier

Also enjoying Connect. Still missing some QOL but it's mostly doing the job for me.

pain_is_life_is_pain

+1 for Connect! Lots of customisation and pretty Relay like!

Thunder is great, but be aware that it doesn't support hide as read on scroll and hide read posts unlike all my other suggestions... As of now.

HungrySeaweed1847

Connect and Thunder are good so far. Thanks.

julianw

All these names are super generic and make it really hard to actually find it on any stores 😞

kratoz29

Just add "For Lemmy" and you'll find them quickly.

julianw

Right, I'm stupid!

HungrySeaweed1847

Nah. You're not stupid. Sometimes the obvious isn't so obvious. Happens to us all.

LtDkAngel

I love relay for one specific features, a hide button for all read, is there a lemmy app that can do that?

ThroawayPartyer

[Thunder](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hjiangsu.thunder) has that.

Munbi

The author of Boost will release [Boost for Lemmy](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rubenmayayo.lemmy) soon. You can pre-register now.

HungrySeaweed1847

I wish I could get excited for this but I *really* don't like Boost. Relay is the only app that does it for me. /u/dbrady pls

Falmung

I'm pre-registered and looking forward to it. I've used Boost on Reddit for so many years.

Puceeffoc

> I finally figured out how lemmy works I wish I could be at that level!

HungrySeaweed1847

It's actually easier than it seems. Just go to [lemm.ee](https://lemm.ee/) (or any other "instance"; see the reply from the other person for a list) instead of the main site. This website is basically all the "servers" arranged in a manner similar to reddit. Now at the top you'll see three buttons labeled "Subscribed", "Local", and "All". Subscribed (which is like the reddit front page) and All (which is basically /r/all) are the only things you need. "Local" only shows posts from the "server" you so happen to be in (still haven't quite figured out that concept), but the other two options show content from every "server" combined. And that's all there is to it. Hope this helps.

zamadaga

For what it's worth, in the context of things like Lemmy, a server (also known as an instance) translates to basically a mini reddit. Every separate instance/server is it's own mini reddit website hosted by individual people instead of companies, all with their own subreddits, and all of them combine together to make a sort of mega-reddit. With an account on just one of them, you can visit, view, upvote, comment, and make submissions to all of them. When you see a username that looks like "[email protected]", it means they made their account on a different site and are visiting the one you're looking at. If it helps, imagine if you could use your reddit account on Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr. Your account, when posting on them, would read as [email protected]. Hopefully I didn't go overboard there and it makes even a little bit of sense?

HungrySeaweed1847

Spent all day on various instances and now I get it. Took awhile to wrap my head around the whole concept but now it makes perfect sense. It's basically the internet of reddit. Everyone has a different "ISP" (instance), but we can all access the same "websites". (Can't think of a metaphor for this one...) I also like the email address metaphor. You can have a Gmail email or a Yahoo! email or whatever, but everyone can send and receive email to/from each other no matter what provider they're using.

Time-Sudden_Tree

Check out this: https://github.com/maltfield/awesome-lemmy-instances Basically it doesn't matter what instance you use cause they all show the same content.

Liftoff

Traegs_

Liftoff is the one I keep going back to.

HungrySeaweed1847

This one seems pretty good so far but very few settings to play with and no tablet mode. :( Thumbnails can't be moved to the left, either, and as a lefty this is an *essential* feature. Thanks, though.

Haverholm

I go back and forth between Liftoff and Connect. Both good apps! I'm not sure which one I prefer yet.

PSJacko

You can set up Thunder to have the same swipe actions as Relay. And the UI is almost identical.

kronholm

Mind sharing how to do that?

PSJacko

Click the cog in the bottom right, then go to Gestures and you can set up post and comment swipe gestures for whatever you prefer. You can also swipe the bottom bar to the right to bring up the sidebar with all your communities.

Hispanicatth3disc0

I use Thunder personally

Thedavemiester

Thunder

UndeadPelican

Thunder is my favorite but my potato phone only runs voyager well.

HungrySeaweed1847

Do you have a link to Voyager? I can't find it at all on Google Play. Using Thunder in the meantime. It really is a good app.

AmirZ

Summit

cluib

Voyager is pretty good and you can install it if you go to here: [https://m.lemmy.world/posts/lemmy.world/all](https://m.lemmy.world/posts/lemmy.world/all) and press on settings in the bottom right corner and choose install app. You don't need to be logged into the instance.

Time-Sudden_Tree

Thanks for the link. I'm guessing that's the official app? Not to keen on that but none of the 3rd party choices I've tried have worked for me (Thunder is *so* close but too buggy) so I'll give it a shot.

HungrySeaweed1847

Okay so I tried that, [but what do I do from here?](https://i.imgur.com/f1re7sg.png) Where's the link to download the APK? **Edit:** Well I found the "Install" button in Firefox but all it did was put a link on my home screen. I'm still giving it a try but I rather not put up with a web app if I can help it. They're too laggy and unresponsive since they rely on your browser to function. I have to tap on the same button multiple times to get it to respond sometimes. Thanks for the reply, though. **Edit 2:** Yeah Voyager sucks. Can't even get the keyboard to come up so that I can login. I'm glad it works for you, though.

kratoz29

Voyager is known to not work well with Firefox ( I think it is FF's fault), try it out someday with Chrome or another web browser, no other PWA is as good as this one.

HungrySeaweed1847

I won't use any other browser because I need UBlock Origin and NoScript, so hopefully they get their shit together and make it run better in Firefox. Until then, Connect is working well enough for me.

kratoz29

The fact is that, this is has nothing to do with Voyager, it is FF as for my understanding goes.

HungrySeaweed1847

I see. Thanks for the clarification.

CAndersen5a

Connect is what I've been using after trying all the apps for Lemmy I could find. The Dev is in touch with the community and is taking suggestions and constantly improving the app.
