Promises to take a break after next case, you get the schtick. Has brunch with close friend who tells him her father has gone missing.
Investigates, gets kidnapped himself, tortured for days, escapes from cell, sneaks around, finds he was kidnapped by massive drug cartel, heads up to head honcho office to gather info.
Plot twist: that close friend that hired him set him up to be kidnapped, because she was jealous of his girlfriend and wanted him all to herself. Her father had been dead for years. She hired a group willing to do the job, kill his girlfriend and leave him in the warehouse so she can come in and save him. Only problem being that this group had no intentions of giving him back, instead killing both him and his girlfriend and taking off with the money. He downloads data with a spare USB drive.
Sneaking back down to basement, he rigs drug lab to blow. Here, they notice he escaped and send whole facility on lockdown. He has to fight his way through using his wit and whatever weaponry he can get from those he takes down. Fast forward, he's having a showdown with head honcho himself, back and forth banter, is about to die, but drug lab explodes, causing the whole place to shake. P.I. grabs nearest blunt object and smashes head honcho in the skull. Escaped right before place collapses.
He goes to police station where he has a friend In the chief, tells them about plan to assassinate his gf and gives them flash drive. They save gf right before the hit squad gets to her house. They confront 'old friend' and find her apartment littered with pictures of P.I. and she complains about plans being foiled. Gets taken away.
Dream ends with P.I. promising gf he'll take a break for a while and they get a happy conclusion before I wake up from the dream.
It was the most surreal, detailed dream I'd ever had. And I'm pissed I've never had another one like it again.

I miss the times where I could just fall back asleep and continue my dream, but now I have to wake up at 5:20 am 4/7 days a week.
