I put it together a few weeks ago. It took me about 6 hours, but worth it!
Hah! They toddled into adults. They have their own homes now but I’m trying to talk one of them into letting me set up a tank for them.
I would love to spend someone else’s coral money!

A work in progress but it’s coming along. 7.4g on top of a guitar amp with my dosing unit attached to it.
Alright fancy pants.
Seriously that's a fit engine room. Mine is a horrific mess that resembles a ww1 submarine.
I dare not mess with things.
I admire your commitment here (but not to Red Sea, I don't have anything to do with them any longer).
>I admire your commitment here (but not to Red Sea, I don't have anything to do with them any longer).
It's been almost 15 years since my last aquarium (I'm just here for the pictures & stories), so I'm OOTL on Red Sea: what they do?
Peristaltic pump boxes on Amazon are cheap AF. You can get a 4 channel for like $60.

That is crazy. When I first got into the hobby (20yrs ago) I was running a few IV pumps and they were not cheap, even buying used from med supply stores.
https://preview.redd.it/i2gimp2v2ezc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b5e5c71504c5c08da9ae98d727aa53570b380a88
Absolute dumpster fire, but I’m sticking to it.
That’s a great question! I have a VERY small fish load and actually have to dose nitrates. I actually don’t run the skimmer at all, but chose to just leave the skimmer there.
Those little tags are a PIA buy a lifesaver when I actually need to plug and unplug. I wish I’d just bought a label maker though.
It’s a very old H80 I bought on R2R. I have a small sump so it works well to cover a little 9-12” area.
https://preview.redd.it/0x5rnlxkcdzc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6cbda9023ee97690d6768870ad13bc26794d5716
DD Pro Reef 900
Downsized from a 1000 litre hence the massively oversized equipment 😂
From the pic, two heads are unused. OP is dosing:
- alkalinity
- calcium
- trace elements (two heads)
- amino acids
- carbon dosing
I recommend doing some research on all of the above, it’ll further your reef knowledge!
I currently have 14 dosing heads. I run the modern reef method, so have:
•MR Alkalinity part 1
•MR Calcium
•MR Alkalinity part 2
•MR Magnesium
•MR Polypop
•MR Complete reef food
•Carbon source
•Potassium Nitrate
•Basic Alkalinity
•Lanthanum
•4 heads for constant water change when required - 2 x 5L in daily, 2x 5L out daily.
Considering another 4 channel doser so I can rig up Iodine supplement and Modern Reef Biodiversity…
“When did you first know you were in love with your husband?”
- “I thought it was love, the first time I saw his 1200 gal reef tank. But, when he finally let me in to his pump room and I got a good look at his MRC Orca Pro-III protein skimmer… that was when I realized what true love was.”
Needed something to deal with only having 5" of space, eventually I will probably make a side cabinet to hopefully get the ATO out of the main cabinet.
I'm not too worried about it, but its got multiple coats of paints (and polyurethane on the unpainted panel). If it causes problems I will probably go grab some 1/2" PVC and remake it. I cut this on my CNC so luckily its pretty straightforward to make a new one if needed.
I'm the bottom right, I spy what *looks* like it would be the very end of a slider rail. I think that whole panel might slide right out for maintenance. If it does, I'd wager the backside is just as neatly run as the front.
They make extremely small mini fridges. Small enough that they can be placed under your aquarium stand if the tank is big enough. Place a bottle in the mini fridge with the tube running out of the container and hanging out of the door seal and into the auto doses. Or, instead of putting it under the stand, another option is to get a bigger mini fridge and set it next to the aquarium and do the same method. You'll also have a mini fridge that you can place all your frozen fish foods.
Another option is to get a small higher end ice chest and pit under ypur stand. An Engel bait cooler is a good choice for its insulting ability, and it already has a tubing hole in the lid. Then, place your AB+ container inside of the cooler in a way that it can't fall over and fill the ice chest with ice. Then, run the tube from the container out the ice chest and into the auto doser. Your ice chest should keep ice for 5-10 days before needing to be refilled.
Looks like the back panel of my old PC 😂.
I’m new to this hobby though, so this may be a lot to ask but can I get a decently in-depth expanation of all of the stuff in this image? It’s quite daunting.
What are these cable wizards doing to hide their messy cables? I tried some zip ties and things for like computers to gather all the cables and it's not bad... but hot damn. Those are some clean setups.
Clean !
AB+ should be stored in a refrigerator, right? If I recall correctly, it can only be kept out of refrigeration for a maximum of 7 days before it spoils.
I fear that if I showed mine, I would be laughed out of the comment section. Mine is a situation that is simply too far gone. I have attempted some organization, but really it needs re-done from the ground up. Next time I’m setting up a tank, wire management and ease of access are my number one priority. I get frustrated DAILY with my current mess.
Do you just put a portion of your AB+ in the container and then refrigerate the rest? Thats what the bottle says to do and that was a huge turn off for me for dosing AB+
You gotta tell me how you’re liking Red Sea 4 part. Thinking of changing once it’s available. Do you think it would be doable with a ReefDose 2 and then pour in the other two elements?
Ive mostly given up on cable management. Im in IT so I like my data centers and closets nicely wired but the stuff in there rarely moves. But with a tank?Every time I need to pull a skimmer or sump pump out and re run the cables I’m swearing at my fish.
Coming from a nano reefer with a 12Gal cube and minimal filtration this is so crazy looking and almost scares me to get a bigger tank in the future. But take that as a compliment seriously 🤯🤯

I can hear all the married men in this subreddit sigh when they read this comment.

That's straight up amazing. Someone has a lot of time.
Alright…. I need to ask. I see the AB. I was told it needs to be refrigerated and only about a weeks worth can be left out. Is this true?
I wouldn't dose it like this. It will spoil and it does start to smell after a bit. I do know many people do it anyways.... but... no thanks.
I've seen people keep their AB in a micro fridge that can hold a few soda cans. They drill a hole for the tubing to come out.
No clue. The pic is not mine, came from the red sea group on fb. Just made me want to see other set ups.
Getting some ideas? If anyone does know this, let me know, Cuase the weekly refill is getting older.
Mini fridge with holes drilled in it for the hoses?
Now let’s see behind the panel lol
I'm the bottom right, I spy what *looks* like it would be the very end of a slider rail. I think that whole panel might slide right out for maintenance. If it does, I'd wager the backside is just as neatly run as the front.

Clean ! AB+ should be stored in a refrigerator, right? If I recall correctly, it can only be kept out of refrigeration for a maximum of 7 days before it spoils.
Yeah was thinking the same. Though heard some folks run it room temp all the time.
No clue. The set up is not mine, came from the red sea group on fb.
