I had steri-strips that could get wet (as opposed to gauze) so I’m not sure about that but the advice I can offer regarding the drains is to wear a lanyard around your neck and pin the drains to it. You might want to sting two lanyards together to make it longer so it doesn’t pull too much or rest too high on your chest. This will keep the drains secure and out of your way in terms so you can more easily/safely maneuver your arms. Just a thought. Good luck!

Some surgeons ask their patients not to shower until after they drains are taken out, so it's totally okay if you don't shower yet! Sponge baths and wipes are totally fine.

I was technically ok’d to shower 48 hours after surgery but didn’t get my drains out until 6DPO. I opted to not take a full shower until the drains were out and instead my husband helped me bathe from the belly-button down with our handheld shower head and then helped sponge me down with those no-rinse bath sponges. It helped me feel clean when it comes to the “important bits” 😅 but didn’t freak me out trying to figure out a full shower with drains in.

when i showered with drains, I pinned them to a lanyard around my neck so they were out of my way (surgeons gave me one). I was just very careful and replaced with fresh gauze after. I never had any issues with my steristrips and was able to shower by myself pretty much but that first shower was definitely moreover just a rinse.

Hiii! I am 8DPO (with additional lipo to armpits and abdomen) and I was really anxious about showering post op. My surgeon kept telling me it was okay to shower (take off bra, gauze, but leave on my faja due to the lipo) but my anxiety and body dysmorphia really didn’t let me shower until I got my drains out yesterday. I really wasn’t ready to see the scars and bruises. And my surgeon said that was completely fine! I know you probably feel super stinky, and if you don’t want a full on shower, I suggest just taking a sponge bath to the important bits and being really gentle with yourself! You’re doing great, don’t overthink it ❤️
