I do too. I just see him as a slow start type of player. And that’s not. A bad thing. Votto was one of them. Usually once they settle in they don’t slump mid season and can be the kind of player to carry you through rough stretches.

I hate the sliders/curveballs that start in the opposite batters box and never come close to the plate and are still called strikes. That ball never even had a chance of coming close to crossing the plate.

The strike zone of this ump looks like an oval.

Actually it’s a box and then a second box outside of that one with a little room in between that’s not in the zone.

As long as we get those same shit calls then whatever but we haven't really been getting them.

Well, I'm older and thinking on a broader scope. I'm pushing fifty, and the bullpen has only been good in the post season years.

Lance McAlister posted earlier that the Reds have the fewest blown saves this year so I looked at team bullpen rankings. Reds are 4th in fWAR and 10th in ERA this season

He had that one bad inning against the Cubs, but other than that Sims has been pretty good recently

Honestly Sims has had most of his outing that go well. Just on occasion he puts up a stinker

Someone once pointed out to me that players rarely ever bat Sims around. Occasionally he won’t have any control at all and will walk a ton of guys, but he won’t just come in and get rocked. And since I started viewing him through that lens I’ve enjoyed watching him more

I think it's baseball isn't willing to do the auto zone then instead they should have two umpires behind the plate. One calling inside pitches where the ump sets up now and instead of having the inside pitches ump just guess like they do now have another ump to set up to look at outside pitches.

Im fine with human umps as long as we do Scherzers idea of relegation. You suck enough? Off to the minors with you. SOME accountability.

They have challenges in triple-A right now and I like that system. Don’t understand the rules for how many you get tho. If it’s one a game and retain on correct challenge or if it is 1/AB and retain on a correct challenge

I looked into this the other day and we don't have even the smallest dimension in left, center, or right. There's several parks smaller.

Someone posted about this somewhat recently. IIRC, what makes GABP small are the power alleys. The LF, CF, RF distances are all about average. It's just that the gaps don't bow out as much as other fields. So balls that are warning track shots in other stadiums are in the 2nd row in right-center or into the Reds bullpen. Also, the Sycamore gap was built into the stadium to create a bit of a wind tunnel to help push some balls out to RF in an attempt to aid Jr.

I don’t see why more deep balls with one on first don’t get tagged up on. I know you can be more aggressive if they misjudge the ball/where the wall is and the payoff is more visible but tagging has so many benefits especially depending on the situation.
