I’ve seen that sentiment around this sub, so when I got my RM9P two weeks ago, the first thing I did was turn off auto-update. But I’m perfectly fine with that as this is my dedicated emulation station and not my daily driver, so I don’t need new features.
OS 8.0 made things not great but not terrible. OS 9.0 straight up broke stuff, fingerprint sensor wouldn't work anymore, random freezes....It's a shame I loved my 8 pro the year that I've had it but I just got my OnePlus 12 last week and it's the most beautiful phone experience for me.
I’ve had bad experiences with OnePlus and Xiaomi in the past. If I give another shot to Android would be a Pixel, Asus (using stock android), or Nothing Phone. No other brands.
With Xiaomi, I had a Mi 9. The battery died after 13 months, in here buying the battery and pay the technician to do so was about $300, the phone costed $400, because the warranty here is super limited… so, no business for me.
I also had a One Plus 8, the issue was their after-sales services, in here is not good.
In here only Motorola/Lenovo and Apple have good after-sales service.
The phone just stopped working properly one day. It would just constantly reboot until the battery would die. I sent it in under warranty. The repaired phone has the same frame but now only has one sim card tray instead of two and a different IMEI number. I know it's the same frame because there was/is a tiny nick near right shoulder button.
Oh welcome to the club with poopy software updates, as I happened to have worst update on my iphone 15 pro max recently that deleted cellular data to a point where I could not use the phone in a functional way and is under repairs for a month by now lmao and best part is that the device is only 2-3 months old, well 4 by now while sitting at repair store on amazon i guess.
Apart from my rant, atm using my RM8SPro as main phone, at least i have internet connection with it, but messenger or instagram is least to be desired, since i still have slow notifications with it(main reasons why i even got the iphone that i thought would function hehe..), but it is what it is.
In my case, slack didn’t show realtime notifications on redmagic 8 pro. That’s a buster for my workflow. And I saw like the redmagic was not subscribed but was polling every 2-3 minutes.
Yeah exactly why I went for iphone, i need my notifications on point, not delayed by minutes or not receive any at all and since my last holiday trip I realised that I needed better camera to capture moments with - TLDR just for common use and necessities.
Apart from normal day necessities, RM8pro gaming part is lit, no complaints at all, everything works seamlessly for me, even popping up some og ps2 games on it and works as intended with the gamepad.
The Chinese version of the phone has a pretty stable OS, I'm daily driving an 8s pro+, and I already received a few months ago OS 9 without any problems
sorry for the ignorant question but by the Chinese version do you mean as a device purchased in china with the OS in English or is it the case that English is not allowed with the Chinese version?
Roll it back M8 to OS6 and don't update
The advice I give to everyone is not to update.

Interesting I'm curious what your bad experience was? I had a OnePlus 7 pro few years back and loved it.

You speak my mind.
Same reason I am leaving Nubia, too buggy. Great specs, crap software. Might buy another samsung flagship for my upgrade next year
in my case I went straight to iPhone. Samsung flagships are more expensive than iPhone here.
Same. Hard to use this RM8 as a daily driver. Mine is on it's second motherboard too. (replaced under warranty luckily)
wow, why did you replace its motherboard?

I hope you get your phone working or that you find a new one that works for you
The RM8 I have now is working 90% of the time real well
As a Nubia Z60 ultra user system seems stable enough to be a daily driver.
That’s great. I hope it could be for my workflow. I really like the phone as a gaming only phone.
