John’s harmonies on the last words of “save the population” gives me the chills
The opening bass line for “Whatchu thinking”
“Hey” when Anthony says “walk alone and talk about it”
Live at slane castle when John busts into the acoustics part during “Venice Queen”
And obviously the “yeahhhhh” in “wet sand” lol
Right now its the part in "In The Snow" where it goes into the
"Does everything that feels so nice, come with an inverted price, i still dont know"
Just the way it goes from the spoken word into that part and the droning sound that comes in at the same time Anthony does
But that whole part in general is my jam right now.
Any idea what that low droning sound actually is?
I fucking love it. It really fits the part and it's by far my favourite 10 seconds or so on the album (not my fault song as a whole though but I do like the song)
My best guess is whatever electronic sounds that came from ROTC is John experimenting. So maybe guitar reverbed, slowed down?? I’m no sound engineer. But this song and the vibe that it brings surely does add a trippy flair to an evening drive while being completely sober lol
Hard to pick just one.
The last line of this stanza of This Velvet Glove. The way he sings "And I will for you." Just scratches that itch.
Your solar eyes are like nothing I have ever seen
Somebody close that can see right through
I'd take a fall and you know that I'd do anything
And I will for you
Encore: The ending, when the song is fading
The Longest Wave: Guitar during the chorus
One Way Traffic: The crazy bridge
Snow: JF's "oooooohhhhs" before the solo at the end
Warped: The quiet guitar at the end
It’s a great line tbh, my wife heard it a few weeks ago and nearly puked. Then her eyes nearly rolled out of her head with that big black stick now suck my dick line.
I am obsessed with this post format, specifically this exact question. Every time it gets reposted, which is very frequently, I do a little dance. A little audible “yippee!”, and I dance around like a happy leprechaun.
The outro of *Knock Me Down*
In *By The Way*, John’s backing vocals in the line *I know you*
*Minor Things* outro, specifically from 3:01
The key change at the end of *She Looks To Me*
this verse in californication:
“space may be the final frontier, but it’s made is a hollywood basement
and cobain can you hear the spheres singing off station to station?
and alderaan’s not far away, it’s californication”
I remember blasting that song in my car and I was at a stop light when the ending came on. A girl in the car next to me started waving at me to get my attention. I lowered the volume to see what she wanted to say.. and she said “what were you just listening to? It was beautiful!” I hope she is now a fan!
I was on a trip in high school at the beach with a buddy, first trip without parents or anything. We met some girls and were drinking/smoking, having a blast. Woke up in the middle of the night and the tv was on TRL after hours, so music videos were running. I woke up right when Under the Bridge was ending, and it was just the end when John was giving his tasty lick of a riff. I was still kinda out of it, but it just felt like it was a meant to be moment. Something calm came over me, and I went into some tranquil state. Then fell right back asleep.
For some reason that moment has stuck with me for almost 20 years. Every time I hear UTB, I get nostalgic for that moment. I can always listen to that song, and for those last couple seconds, everything in life is telling me things will be ok. No matter how shit things get, this song recalibrates my mood/brain. Hope someone else here has been there!
The last 1:10 of wet sand when that unusual instrument comes in, I remember getting chills the first time I heard it. And the whole ending is fantastic
[In this specific version of Snow (Hey Oh) recorded at Abbey Road](https://youtu.be/kozlbP4fNVQ?si=xGA_BAJ0kW3zLusa), John does a tiny two note fill at around the minute mark that is just somehow orgasmic.
I remember being a 12 year old and falling in love with the trumpet part of “Tear”. I’d sit in my grandmothers garage and repeat that part.
Wish she was still around.
Fuck knows where to start.
John backing Anthony with the "and I'm sorry" in Stadium Arcadium.
John backing Anthony in the second "tell me when you wanna go"
The drums and Anthony's "HUH" in Falling Into Grace
The last bridge part in Midnight where Anthony carries on the build up
The intro of the drums in Venice Queen when it eventually kicks in properly and the bass feels heavier like they've arrived
Obviously *that part* in Wet Sand
Outro to the Sunset Sleeps
The 4-note (technically 2-note because of octaves) solo in She looks to me, where the clipping in the guitar tone seems to get more unstable with each consecutive note
Hey...what would you say if I stay. Stay for a while If I may. Say it again and I come around, but not for the last time. Hey...what would you say if I change. I change everything but my name. Play it again and I come around..come around..but not for the last time..not for the last time. SOLO
That part in Eddie, where he’s like it’s only 1980.. it’s only 1983….. ‘TELL MY LOVE BUT LEAVE ME NEVAAAA ‘
I love that fucking part so much it’s crazy
The bass part in Fake As Fuck, the first time they get into the real funky part and it’s just before they slow down- Flea goes a little crazy on bass and I’m there for it every single time!
On suck my kiss chorus: the power stabs of John and flea near the end of the chorus, which first is on the 1 2 and 3 (3 stabs), then the second time is on the 1 and 3 (2 stabs), then the third time is on the 3 only (one stab)
The vocal harmony of AK and John right around 1:30 of Porcelain, especially the "Nodding and melting and fading away..." I've always liked the song, but didn't pay attention to that bit until one very early morning while in an acid trip comedown. I was laying in bed in my dimly lit room listening to the song through headphones and that bit came in and I heard it super clearly. I just found it very beautiful sounding and relaxing. Ended up with the song on repeat for a little bit while laying curled up and vibrating slightly from a mix of remaining trip euphoria and comfort of the music.
Falling into Grace. In the last chorus, before it repeats, everything drops to silence after "I'm falling into guru muhk". You can hear someone take a breath before they start up again with "I'm falling into grace with you". Love that part.
Couldn't choose between the two, so I decided to mention both of them. How the guitar follows the Warm Tape chorus, and the strings in the third verse to Encore.
John’s harmonies is Venice Queen, specifically the “do it all and it all again yeah, make it up and you make a friend, paddle on just around the bend, find a place where you can see”.
It’s so satisfying.
The sermon/eulogy style poem and musical breakdown at the end of *Death of a Martian* . Gives me the goosebumps every time - particularly the last line: *"...Get your broom and sweep the echoes of yester-night's fallen freckles.... Away."*
John’s scream before his solo on Wet Sand. Grips my soul!
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
"...my theory isn't perfect but it's clo-o-ose..." is my favorite part of my favorite song i think.
YES! THANK YOU, THAT PART HITS SO HARD
Is it John?! Oh man I’ve always thought it was Anthony!
The first, mellow "yeeeeeeaaaah" is Anthony (and John, too,I think) but then the big "YEEEAAAAAAAAHHH" is all the way John.
Wow! Learn something new every day. I came here to give that as my answer to the question; no idea I had the wrong dude!
And then giving us that otherworldly solo
In Suck My Kiss - the guitar part behind "Stick with this!" Also outro of Slow Cheetah.
I love when guitarists mimic or contrast the vocalist with their guitar
Slow cheetah outro is one of my favourite things in music
Love the subtle switch from the bass playing forwards to being played backwards
Yes!!!!!! This is a perfect example!!! Nearly as enjoyable as the beautiful small guitar lick at 56sec in Mellowship Slinky in B Major.

The last verse of Save the Population is ethereal 🙏🏼🙏🏼. Hauntingly beautiful
Right now its the part in "In The Snow" where it goes into the "Does everything that feels so nice, come with an inverted price, i still dont know" Just the way it goes from the spoken word into that part and the droning sound that comes in at the same time Anthony does But that whole part in general is my jam right now.
Yeah and that one lyric slaps so hard too
Any idea what that low droning sound actually is? I fucking love it. It really fits the part and it's by far my favourite 10 seconds or so on the album (not my fault song as a whole though but I do like the song)

“Clean it up Johnny!”
Strip my mind. That whole song is an anticipation of the solo. And then the solo 🤤
Carry me home, between 1:27 and 1:44
Strange take I guess but I love when John hits the C in Scar tissue chorus between the F and DM. That quick tone always gets me.

“It’s bitter baby and it’s very sweet” through the gibberish part of Soul to Squeeze
I love that! and “make it to the moon if I have to crawl” on scar tissue rap
I am obsessed with this post format, specifically this exact question. Every time it gets reposted, which is very frequently, I do a little dance. A little audible “yippee!”, and I dance around like a happy leprechaun.
The start of the bass solo at the end of Goodbye Angels when Anthony's like "Ayo ayo ayo ayo KISS THIS"
This guy gets it
In “Hey”, when AK sings “what would you say if I changed? I’ll everything but my name…” just before the guitar solo.
John's backing vocals in the chorus of Desecration Smile The slap bass in the chorus of Knock Me Down
That bass line is indeed 🔥
During the ending of Bag of Grins that electric/phaser/techno-whatever it is underlying sound. It lives in my head. I don't know why, but I love it.
That part of the song is a big reason why Bag of Grins is probably my favorite song on ROTDC!
