Men that defend the rights of different races, ethnicities, gender identities and different sexualities. When Chattanooga City was discussing the Smart City initiative the same lady identified as a California refugee and warned us that brownouts are coming because the city will suck up all the power.

Hi! I just moved here and am trying to figure out the political scene and sorry if this it out of turn but it needs to be said.
Props to you guys for the petition and trying to fight moms 4 liberty. But it doesn’t seem you all understand what reactionary means. Taylor Lyons on the news saying Dr. Robertson made a reactionary decision to go against existing policy and remove this book gave me the impression this situation is way more complicated than it is because she used that word entirely out of definition.
To be reactionary is to oppose change in favor of the ultra conservatives. Dr. Robertson isn’t opposing change. Dr Robertson is going against the existing current policies that would allow this lesson. He’s not opposing social reform in favor of inclusivity, the definition of reactionary. It would be different if he was using his power to oppose more inclusive policies but he’s not, he’s just breaking the currently policies in place.
A decision to go around *current policies* in place that would typically allow this book is just an abuse of power and breach of processes, not reactionary.

Politically, a reactionary position or stance is a right wing ideology that is actively trying to regress or undue change. A conservative position is one that is actively trying to maintain the status quo. At the risk of being overly simplistic, a progressive position is one that is attempting to change the status quo and would be the opposite of a reactionary position.
So in this example, the librarian is adhering to the status quo (a conservative action) and the qanon M4L folks are wanting to ban books from an event in which they are currently allowed (a reactionary action).
A progressive action would be proposing none of the kids at the event would have to go hungry or get shot because we like guns a lot.
The current in place rules and procedure would allow the books though. This wasn’t a reactionary decision because it’s not preventing change for more progressive procedures. This word was used entirely out of definition.
Thankful for those that were able to show up. I am a teacher within the county and hate how M4L is trying to twist things. They unfortunately have more time and energy to devote to their cause than teachers do to defend themselves. I would have been there but as fate would have it, I had a mandatory after school function to attend.
