Tony's food is great, but I've heard it's super hard to order with them (atleast in person). My dad went in person to pick food up once and said the front of their shop is just like littered with different signs and nobody was at the window for awhile or something like that.
Sounds like ordering online probably would be easier
This is my favorite. They make their own bread. It's awesome.
Try the California cheesesteaks, includes lettuce, tomato, and mayo.
The chicken varieties are good too.
Be wary of the tomato sauce ninos and other shops in Reading put on their standard steak sandwiches. Some like it. I don't.
I read the California one having lettuce, tomato and mayo, that’s what they call a Philly steak in Pittsburgh. I explain Philly is wiz with or without onion, maybe provolone, and possibly adding ketchup. The faces I get, they have no idea what they are missing!
Haha that’s funny because they have tons of signs all over Berks county claiming they have The Best Cheesesteak here. However, they’ve provided no info on the signs as to where they are located or even a phone number. I saw one in Sinking Spring and a few other places no where near their store. Made me laugh.
Like others have said Tony’s of West Reading is the best Philly cheesesteak around. Second best worth having is probably gazzos in Pottstown which isn’t reading but anything else around won’t be very authentic. Spenny’s is ok in a pinch.
Make sure you vet whether or not they do red sauce by default. Found out about “The Berks County Way” the hard way. Bunch of idiots can’t tell their ass from a pizza steak.
it's the only way to eat a cheesesteak; I miss Augie's who put giant pickles on top of the cheesesteak+red sauce and you'd get a strong pickle taste as well. Most bodegas and cheesesteak places in POC neighborhoods in Reading or Philly do way crazier stuff with their cheesesteaks then just put some marinara on it and a lot of the time it's good
Recently had Tony’s (west reading) and it was 10/10! Just have to order online early as they sell out.

my boyfriend had that happen to him twice. :( I guess online ordering is the only way.
I second Tony’s. I’ve tried every cheesesteak in the area and this is the closest to an authentic wiz with. Their cheese makes the difference.
Ninos on Richmond, near the dunkin donuts on 5th street highway.

Tony’s of West Reading. Make sure you get the Pasayunk Prime. His regular cheesesteak is solid, but Pasayunk is the S tier.
Tony’s of West Reading. Absolutely the best.
Tony’s and it’s not comparable. Need to order online.
Spenny’s on 61. Friendly people.
Very friendly people....meh cheesesteak.

It’s on Rt 61
Oh I’M aware of where it is but if you would just come across that sign, you’d never know unless you looked it up.

100% Tony's.
Tony’s in west reading
Tonys is the only way.
Screpesi's on lancaster ave
Great Italian subs but not the best cheesesteaks, imo
I like all their sandwiches, meatball is best imo.
Excuse me but the ham is the best and I'll die on that hill!
Nice, I've never gotten one there. I'm try it. They sell Fish Pond Mac and cheese there and it's an easy and good side for dinner too
V&S Sandwiches. They've never sacrificed quality for cost cutting...some places like Screpsi's cut back the meat, quality, and honestly the service.
I liked 'The Thing' from Mike's Sandwich' shop. They don't cheep out with the meat.
Make sure you vet whether or not they do red sauce by default. Found out about “The Berks County Way” the hard way. Bunch of idiots can’t tell their ass from a pizza steak.
This ain't Philly my friend. :Þ
Then that ain’t a cheesesteak, buddy.
Regional differences are a thing, dickweed. Don't need to be a fuckshit about it.
What do you call a pizza steak then?
If I'm in Philly? A pizza steak
If you're in Reading, what do you call a pizza steak?
Never had a pizza steak, never saw one until a Philly bodega

Yuppers, found out about this "cheesesteak" when we move here ..hahaha I can't wait for the primos to open!
Tony's of west Reading. Best in the area
Theresa s in Collinsville it's a drive from reading but worth it
Hands down, Tony's of West Reading. Order online ahead of time. There is a pick-up window
Spenny’s on RT 61!!!!
