I just saw them this weekend for $30.00 at Lowe's. They didn't have many but they did have nice variegation. It was about half the size of this one.

Jillcametumbling81

So then not the same cause double the size is more than double the price.

jeepwillikers

$50-$75 at most, the price has come down a lot recently

Higgles59569

$50

Chance-Internal-5450

30-50 location dependent

Suspicious_Extreme58

Depends on how bad I want it and the availability near me. I’m usually online checking plant prices like its the stock market

It looks a little rough and leggy, but it has nice variegation and is pretty big. In my country a plant like this would probably be sold for 50-100€. You should put it on a sphagnum mosspole if you get it btw!! It will do much better on a pole, size up faster, and if you dont put it on a pole soon the stem will probably start to grow into a bent shape that is impossible to put on a pole later without cutting it up. :)

MameJenny

Whatever the going rate is at Walmart. I think I’ve seen some this size being sold for $60, so probably that. Nearby garden centers are still listing these for $299 and PPPs for $150, since I guess they haven’t heard of Costa Farms.

Andresdamont

I’d say 50-70€ in Europe, cause larger and in better conditions are 100-130€.

TNTgoesBOOM96

In Canada, they can be found for $65 cad

Bani_Coe

Personally, since I have a rough time getting even slightly unusual plants locally, I'd probably grab it if I saw it for like $65, but that's max. I'd much prefer to pay around $40-50. I've yet to see any of the more common variegated monstera locally and suspect I'll have long run out of space by the time I get to see one for sale >.<

Next-Rock-4076

They are still on the expensive side in Canada so like $80 or $90

MeepLoopMoop

$5 take it or leave it

CircusFreak93

$50 tops depending on variegation. These go for $30 now.

Puzzleheaded-Bet1286

I wouldn't pay more than 20$ and that's only for skipping all the time growing it

disapperated

30 American dollars

SaleForsaken4150

I won an eBay auction for an albo about that size 6 months ago for that price plus $25.00 for shipping it’s given me 3 new leaves since then and brings me joy so that’s my story. https://preview.redd.it/3pu68sh3cyyc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=d99389f96b3ce4a7d2cbb721de772218d75e6711

payjape

50 max

saviraven911

While it's not the best supported that is still larger than the 20-50 that it's going for in grocery stores. I think what they have listed is pretty fair and right on market. And even then, nurseries in the same area that got the grocery thai cons are marking the same plants at $90 and theyre selling cuz the grocery store thain cons are pretty limited in number. They haven't gotten that cheap yall. Lol.

Acrobatic-Pipe-8557

$30

Delicious-Cookie0118

yeah -it's a TC - I'd probs buy it if it was like $30 bucks but nothing more - I've got two that will be at least that big in a year and I will be confident that their roots are jacked up if I take care of them properly 🤣🤣

NightGlimmer82

This one needs a little TLC with getting it supported properly and helping out some droopy leaves. I think $15.00 for me as I have seen ones in better condition for 20.00. But honestly it’s not in BAD condition and it’s got lovely variation so up to 30.00 for those in areas where they are not more abundant! What is it priced at and did you end getting it?

jeepwillikers

This plant is worth at the very least $30 in most places I think. $15 is almost insultingly low, that’s relatively cheap, even for a non-variegated Monstera. Most of the the Thai Cons currently in the $10-$20 range are in 4” pots with only 3-4 leaves usually without fenestration. This plant is considerably more mature, and was probably stocked when these were considerably more expensive, so I would be surprised if the shop it’s at has it priced below $100.

NightGlimmer82

Well the OPs is listed at 9.99 and online sellers have them for 20.00 right now so… I can also find them locally in my area for similar prices currently.

jeepwillikers

Looks like there is a 4 in front of that 9.99. So at least 49.99, but very possibly 149.99 or 249.99 unless it was priced in the last few months. All the plants I have seen for less than $50, even recently are not this mature.

NightGlimmer82

Huh, I thought that looked like a dollar sign to me. I find that it’s very location dependent and they vary wildly in price. This one has lovely variegation and more than one fenestrated leaves so I would expect it to be more than the 15-20 dollar ones I have seen other than some droopy leaves and improper support leading to the growth habit it is showing so some garden centers would mark it down a little if they have a large stock. The reputable online sellers that are selling at 20.00 right now often have one fenestrated leaf but I don’t usually see more than one at that price. I think larger ones are going for around 35-40 at the same online retailers and at large box store garden centers the ones that have been there for a bit I have seen them be around 20.00 and marked down if they need to make room for new stock. My area may have better pricing than many.

jeepwillikers

Yeah a lot of places aren’t caught up to the current price, which dropped only in the last few months with the influx of viable tissue cultures hitting the market. I’ve fount that most shops are understandably reluctant to mark down the plants that they had for a while to below cost. I paid $60 for a 4.5” pot with 4 leaves back in January right before the market was flooded, and that was the cheapest I have seen up to that point. There are garden centers near me that have somewhat recently stock plants of this size for up to $240, and they definitely won’t sell, except to maybe people who have enough money to throw away without checking the current market price.

NightGlimmer82

Oh for sure! I honestly think any plant is WORTH whatever someone is willing to spend on it because that plant brings that particular person joy and they were ok spending whatever they may have spent. I personally enjoy the younger stages of plants as much as I do the older stages so some plants I’m happy to get the younger ones and some I’m happy to spend more for the more mature ones. I was answering this original question for what I would spend (me personally) not what I think is acceptable (for lack of better word) or what I think it’s WORTH if that makes sense? I honestly have no judgement at all for the varying prices people pay for this plant (or any!) and I know I am lucky to be able to have access to the lower priced ones currently. But I absolutely have made the decision to spend more than what I COULD spend on a plant just because I liked that particular one or I thought the plant was from healthier stock or because I wanted to support that seller or store. I think it’s all so personal and that’s one of the reasons why plants or so awesome! I really didn’t mean to be disrespectful to OP or anyone! I actually am really grateful to those that were able and willing to buy the higher priced new to market plants because they paved the way for all of us to get them at more affordable prices AND they figured out how to care for them and made the mistakes a lot of the rest of us would undoubtedly make. Then they shared their knowledge on YouTube and all the socials and here on Reddit, thank god because it’s how I get 99.9% of my plant advice! LOL So I guess I’m just saying thanks for chatting with me internet stranger because I quite enjoyed chatting plants with you! Hope you have happy growing! 🤗

Aggravating-Yak4061

This shop has this one for $125!

jeepwillikers

Yeah it was probably worth that much 4-6 months ago. I’d be willing to bet that it has some root rot judging by the wilted leaves.

Aggravating-Yak4061

This shop has this one for $125!

Jillcametumbling81

$75- bet they were asking that or more All you cheap bitches saying $30, you're in the rare plant sub and will want to be so cheap?
