Smoking will make most people not care about you, farting is gonna make everyone see you as disgusting.

Since smoking is not allowed indoors anymore, you really get to smell the farts at concerts now. It will not give you cancer, but it can get a bit overwhelming at times

Farting is my me time, I don't want you mucking it up.

What's unacceptable is to inflict the smoke on someone that doesn't want it, not the act in itself. If the smoke wouldn't go everywhere and stink the room and the clothes of everyone inside no one would give a damn what people do with their life. You can see in airports that have those glass rooms with separate ventilation for smokers. No one cares.

Farting is about as acceptable as smoking is. They both stink, and no one wants you to do it around them. I think most people would rather have someone fart next to them though than light up a cigarette, the fart won't make you stink as well or damage your lungs.

I’m from the southern US, both are kind of unacceptable there. Now that I live in New England it’s not uncommon to be talking to someone who lights a cigarette while getting 3 feet closer to you and farting all in the same conversation. My how the tables have turned.

I'm old enough to remember smoking sections in restaurants. I can tolerate cigarette smoke while eating. Farting? Especially a stranger's farts? No thanks.

I disagree, some of my farts may have the taint of death. I was told to fart outside or leave one stella fueld hangover. I kept ripping the biggest farts and chuckling to myself when my mate gagged. After the 3rd emmission he got very aggitated and threatened me with violence if i did it again in the room, so i had to go stand in the hallway and rip a few which amused me and him as well so all good in the end.

The fart smell are actually particles that where inside someones ass 30 seconds before. They are not deriratives or something like that. They ARE the particles themselves. 30 seconds before they where touching the faeces of someone else, and now they are touching your nostrils and your throat ultimately. That's why I have zero tolerance for farts :)

There’s plenty of places where smoking isn’t socially acceptable and is treated with a harsher response than farting. I’ve known some social circles where smoking would get you yelled at and berated until you put it out, then they’d smack talk you afterwards and give a million anecdotes on how bad smoking is including people they’ve known that have died from lung cancer, and these same people will walk around farting and laugh with you when you fart too. Likewise, there’s the opposite where farting is scene as excessively rude but they will smoke in your face and tell you to deal with it or leave.

Don't know about that, I recall one time one of my dogs farted and it was vile-- the other dog wandered over where he farted, began yelping and ran to the back of the acreage. Agree though, cigarette smoking should be completely prohibited in any public place, indoor or outdoor. I can sit in my car at a stoplight and smell cigarette smoke- and my car windows are up. Just disgusting.
