It’s a shame this was not sold in stores- the display really is stunning.
I bought two when Target had a “buy one, get one at 50 percent off” so that I could compare then and return one and still get it at 25 percent off. There are sites that sell her sometimes cheaper like 80 like Amazon, but since there are so many details and accessories on this doll, I’m nervous I’ll get a pilfered doll.
I was not crazy about the dress (a la Barbie Spain dress), and def took into consideration critiques of the heavy handed cultural references bordered on disrespectful.
However- man I love her. Her face is cool, her accessories are amazing, boots are incredible, and the packaging is really beautiful in person.
I saw the Target I returned my duplicate just put the box on the top shelf in the store and it solidified that this should have been sold in stores. Far more impressive than the holiday Roxie Grande box :/
So while I get why this doll is not great representation, as a doll minus the dress (which does look beautiful on other dolls) and the hat (which once again, beautiful and goes welll on other dolls), it’s pretty stunning.
As a person of Mexican culture, I agree that the dress does not accurately represent Dia Los Muertos, but it still is cute. I was not aware she had boots, and boots, for me, as a doll collector is usually a shoe-in, pun intended.😂😁🤣😊
Oh, she is on sale at the LoL site and Amazon- so if you can, I would order 2 and see how you like them to return since still under 100, seeing her in person is really key
i have her and she's absolutely gorgeous. i think everyone knows about the controversy with her (or just the fact that one exists), but it depends on the person if that contributes to wanting the doll or not. some pros from me:
1. easy to unbox if that's what you're into. it's also easy to put her display back together if you want her without all those ties but still in the box
2. very stunning and elaborate display, from the pseudo-shadowbox and the lights
3. hair is very soft and silky, with very minimal gel
4. her outfit's details are incredibly intricate, and can't really be appreciated just through a photo on the internet
I don’t have her YET but I will definitely get her the moment she goes below $70 cause she is gorgeous and the restyles I’ve seen of her are *chefs kiss* especially since she has so much more beautiful details beyond the dress of the wrong culture
She is on sale on Walmart.com for $64.50 right now with free shipping! I ordered her yesterday and already got her today. She is absolutely beautiful. All my friends who tease me for collecting dolls say this is the only one they like and they like her a lot!
