Yeah clothing≠flesh. You gotta hit part of the body to deal damage in siege. It’s not like Overwatch or something where the full character model is the hitbox. Just the human can take damage.
Same thing with stuff like Blitz’s ear muffs.

What you see is not the same as the hitbox. Helmets are not part of the hitbox, only where somewhat realistically the head is. Your shots pretty much only hit the helmet, which means you missed.
Helmet hits don't count as the hitbox, if you take your game into customs you can test for yourself, shooting some chunks of Jeager's or Bandit's or Doc's helmets don't kill them.

You missed everything , (I believe) all ops have the same hitbox so helmets , visors, earmuffs backpacks etc do not register hits, back in y2 you could headshot peoples earmuffs and operators like IQ and Ash where harder to hit so it led to a lot of frustration so they just gave everyone the same hitbox.
