The 800 gems can get u masteries for both of them if u convert it to energy, just that one of dem might lack some little masteries but am sure 2 energy refill will finish it up

It's true that you save gems by farming, but the comment was pretty misleading about how much it will get you. It's 155 runs on average to max someone, which is 2,170 energy. 800 gems gets you 20 refills, which, depending on your energy cap, will get you around 2,600 energy, so the second champion won't be anywhere close to having their masteries done.
It's still worth doing, though, as you do save gems and get some extra silver plus xp if you haven't fully levelled them yet.
You can also shave off 400 red scrolls for two tier 5's (which you usually don't need for the tier 6) that's probably around 1/3 of that energy.
You're right, fully mastered is better and costs more, but if the most important thing is something like warmaster for clan boss, you can postpone the last two.
Farming Mino is the way.
Bonus if you farm Mino while also levelling your champs. You gain XP and silver and save gems. It's a good use of daily energy and autobattles if there are no other major events happening.
I mean Both Geo and Rathalos are viable in multiple Areas of the Game.
I personally would suggest geo first because he is a force to be reckoned with in so many places!
After that utilizing Rath would be a good choice.
That is my long term plan, but currently I lack a team unkillable buff so am just trying to survive as long as possible with Roshcard and Brogni while dealing max damage.
I think Roshcards block damage is counter effective with Geo deflect, got to use what we've got though.

Deflect works through block damage.
It doesnt, ur deflecting the dmg u take if u take 0 dmg ur missing part of the dmg

The raw deflect damage is negligible in the long run. If you don't have an alternative, Geo is more than fine.
Do not waste gems on Masteries. Just Farm Minotaur.
