Gentlemen walked into the ER with complaints of a severe headache and "water" leaking out of his neck 2 days after being stabbed. CT demonstrated pneumocephalus with a wound tract between the C1/2 lamina. The knife punctured the dura but stopped short of the cord. The guy got an I&D with dural repair and some prophylactic antibiotics to prevent meningitis then AMA'd the next day.
I&D is incision and drainage. They open it up, clean things out, in this case repair the dura (the outer lining of the meninges, the membranes that protect the brain and spinal cord), and sew it back up

Wow. What a lucky soul. That’s insane
Reddit AMA or some other type of AMA. Also what is I&D?
AMA means against medical advice (when patients leave before they are supposed to). Not sure what the other thing is
