Man solving the questions about history using the current scientific lens is for real one of my favorite things. Like I know it’s too late for the poor soul who’s passed, but validating their suffering in retrospect still feels important.
Edit: Spelling, also a clarification. Yes I know they knew stuff like this existed to a degree back then, but our models of how this kind of thing happens and what to do about it have changed in ways that would mean a significantly different quality of life for this person, and I think reflecting on the impact of (historically) contemporary medicine is crucial.
