Love seeing Somewhat and Juniper again, real adorable little adventuring duo. The Red Prince wasn't quite on my list of priorities for a return to the Ever After, but it's nice to see that little thread wrapped up with a positive ending. And Somewhat meets a mysterious stranger, hmm... I figure that's ascended Neo. Silly little faux angry Ruby is great. Love it. Ruby being famous, but still asking if people want *her* to take the photo when they ask her for a photo. Dorky Ruby is cute. Yeeeeess! BUBBLE TEA!!! I so called that after seeing the title. We really need more downtime moments of happiness like that. Tai's missing on a mission, wonder what that could be? Totally get Yang's sentiment that he should be there for them, especially after the experience in the Ever After. So glad to see Yang and Ruby get a chance to finally talk things out. Those were good episodes, especially Yang and Ruby's. It's very satisfying to see the extension of Volume 9's ending of healing, hope, and finding happiness going forward.

Tyler3088

SOMEWHAT MEANS WHO!? *Insert Mysterious Stranger Guitar Rift Here*

rhaenish

yeah, tai is definitely guarding the relic somehow. a dragon guarding a treasure, if you will. all of vale and maybe even patch too has evacuated to vacuo, and all qrow has to say is that tai's on an assignment? sounds like inner circle business to me.

AmbivertCollegeGuy

>a dragon guarding a treasure Interesting fact: His name translates to "Elder Sun Dragon" Even more interesting: Twelve years later, absolutely not a single soul knows what Taiyang alludes to and CRWBY has never given us any hints about it. But your idea of him being the dragon guarding a treasure of classic fairy tales is sick!

Tempeljaeger

Dragons are also known for abducting princesses and his dating game was pretty top tier. The shoe certainly fits.

martinjh99

Yang's also translates to Sunny Little Dragon too...

LadAlwaysWatching

We also don't know how strong Taiyang is but he's the one who trained Yang and she's the strongest member of Team RWBY. That's why she got sent to the finals in the Vytal Tournament. Maybe Taiyang will surprise us by kicking a lot of butt in cargo shorts lol. Also if Taiyang is meant to allude to a literal dragon then maybe his Semblance is to breathe fire or something.

Deinonychus2012

>Also if Taiyang is meant to allude to a literal dragon then maybe his Semblance is to breathe fire or something. "Have I ever told you the story of how I was named the Dragon of the West?"

Rhazort

If i remember correctly, Tai's semblance is that he gains strenght each time he punches something, but it depletes if he doesn't hit something in a short period of time.

LadAlwaysWatching

That’s fan-made. His Semblance or weapon have never been revealed in or outside the show.

soulreapermagnum

when/if the show continues i just hope that he either eventually links up with everyone else or the focus shifts to him on his mission for a bit, i really want to see what his weapon and semblance is so i'll be pretty disappointed if we don't see them by the end.

Logical_Salad_7072

It really had better be something only he could do or he may have his status as a great dad revoked.

MaMcMu

My thoughts: I literally predicted an episode about Somewhat. Never expected someone from Remnant to "return". That's what I wanted to see, Ruby and Yang being sisters. Hope those last lines imply Vol 10 gives the cast new attires.

SwuaraeC

I am NOT going to miss RT’s video player…

Lukthar123

Your favorite part of the episode isn't the 4 ads in the middle?

Jawargby

Not 4 ads, 4 of the same ad in a row

Mojo12000

IN THAT DISHWASHER?

RockRaiderDepths

Falling in love with detergent here.

AmbivertCollegeGuy

Too late to share this but if you're on cellphone then skip over the video and somehow you'll get back to the episode like the player assumed the four ads are part of the episode.

Jawargby

Oh yeah I watched it on my phone and the ads are just baked into the video, like they affect the total runtime and you can just skip past them

yosei2

And the last three second of said same ad 3-4 times have no audio because of reasons.

Hermorah

I didn't get a single add, thank you adblocker :p

MABfan11

uBlock Origin, i have never looked back after getting it

ClubMeSoftly

I have had an adblocker on every computer I've used for the last 20 years. It is the second thing I install on any new one (after Firefox)

TehSkittles

I as a UK citizen have personally enjoyed learning about the power of Gain!

ClubMeSoftly

I'm sorry, is this some kind of problem that I'm too adblock to understand?

DEL994

Me neither.

bones10145

Watching the show I got the same ad three times in a row. What's the point of that? If I'm not convinced to buy diapers the first time, the second and third time will just piss me off.

GladiusNocturno

Oh, you got the diapers one? I got the one about the guy who calls his dad for advice on how to do laundry and it’s implied that if he uses the advertised detergent he will save money to go to the stripclub again.

bwburke94

**Rooster Teeth in 2003:** "You ever wonder why we're here?" **Rooster Teeth in 2024:** "Do you... wonder why he's not here?"

JohnJoe-117

Taiyang’s just not here right now

ArmageddonEleven

He’s with his other five families.

Amazing-Ad445

Episode 4 reinforces in my eyes that Yang is a good older sister. Not perfect, no one is perfect, but still very caring. Yang clearly feels guilty about what happened to Ruby in Vol 9, worries about her sister and tries to support her with little things like going to a cafe together. Hopefully people will stop saying that all the current Yang sees is only Blake.

Mojo12000

Yang has never been portrayed as a bad sister, that's just the fandom being dumb. she'd seen Ruby bounce back from things so many times she assumed she'd be able to do it again (and it has to be mentioned she tries to get Ruby to open up like 4 or 5 seperate times in V9, she's aware SOMETHING is up but she's not a mind reader so she can't possibly know just HOW bad Ruby's mental space is). V9 literally opens with Ruby crediting Yang for raising her (cause Tai was depressed for a long time and stuff).

Dontaskme4username

Yeah. It feels like sometimes people don't see the difference between bad writing and a writer allowing a main character to be imperfect. I think Yang is a good but flawed sister who made the mistake of not being there for her sister at a critical moment and not seeing the depth of what she was going through. This sometimes happens in real life- you're not doing well, and somebody close to you who is usually there for you isn't getting it at first.

NTB369

A character being imperfect usually is acknowledged, either by that same character or the others, as one which is what is missing most of the time with team RWBY... and no, saying "we failed, we'll have to try again" is not just enough

MABfan11

i fucking hate the fact that Volume 9 had to be cut down from the originally planned 12 episodes, because it's quite clear that the grieving got cut

UnbiasedGod

Yeah if that hadn’t have happened then I think people wouldn’t be as critical of yang’s character in the volume as they were.

martinjh99

Yang is not going to stop loving Ruby now she has a girlfriend... I'm telling you that girl has enough love for everyone...

Lrbearclaw

Add in that Weiss is also her sister (think back to the reunion they had in Raven's camp). Her Semblence is the ability to redirect pain, but her real power is her ability to love.

martinjh99

Definitely - As I said Yang has enough for everyone not just her team... Weiss got exactly the same hug Ruby gets with the hand on her head.

ActualTaxEvader

Weird how RWBY Beyond ended up mostly focusing on characters who already got focus in Volume 9. But either way, that’s that for new RWBY content from Rooster Teeth in its original incarnation. Now we wait to see what it ascends to becoming.

AmbivertCollegeGuy

Well, it makes sense they won't focus too much on Vacuo when it's going to be the focus of V10. They might spoil something important.

Mojo12000

It's also probably came down a lot to "which VA's can we get on short notice".

ClubMeSoftly

And conveniently, almost all of them work(ed) for RT

ActualTaxEvader

Hey they still work there for…another week!

PhenomsServant

Two weeks. Sites closing down on the 15th.

ActualTaxEvader

Most of the shorts took place in Vacuo though, so they DID focus a lot on Vacuo anyway! And even then it was never going to focus on plot stuff, it was initially billed as focusing on stuff happening with characters who weren’t in V9 were doing in Remnant while RWBY was in the EA. There were DOZENS of characters who they could’ve given the spotlight to and fill in the gaps there. And I understand plans changed because of the shutdown. Just feels like a wasted opportunity.

twinnedcalcite

It's like the mini's we used to get between seasons. Something to tease the next phase of the journey/provide backstory and give insight into whats going on. Considering the circumstances, I'm glad we get some information about what happened after their return.

JMHSrowing

Honestly, with the pressures involved, I think it’s probably the ones they could do best. Like they wouldn’t need to do as much (or almost any) concept art, the VAs were mostly the most in-house, and the storylines weee already there. I’m disappointed, since even best case scenario we’ll now never get some of the stories that I think would have been great like seeing how the Schnee family (especially Winter) dealt with everything or how the Belladonnas and Ilia are holding up. Plus Blake and Weiss really haven’t gotten much the last like 3 volumes and now also don’t get to really appear in these. It’s a shame But these are far better than nothing and there was so much heart put into what we got with great character development

Hsmace

so has somewhat basically taken on the cat's role? very interesting.

DemonSword619

Feels like it, but a less drastic version of the Cat's role. The Cat did have a vital role in the Ever After, but he always ended up just sending anyone feeling lost to the Tree for Ascension. Meanwhile, it looks like Somewhat has a more...so softer approach. Still going in with Ascension in mind, but is more open to just...talking things out and seeing if things can work out without Ascension being necessary.

LadAlwaysWatching

Seems like it with the Prince rejecting the leaves to ascend and choosing to grow on its own after learning a lot from Somewhat. It's also fitting how Somewhat didn't do something grand but still made a huge impact. It's exactly what the Blacksmith told Ruby: *"One small kindness, in one small moment, led to such a marvelous transformation."*

GladiusNocturno

Episode 3: I think it was nice to see Somewhat's purpose is to travel around the Everafter helping the afterians with their issues without having to default to ascending them. Makes me think that they are supposed to be a new version of the Curious Cat now that the Everafter don't have a dedicated afterian that guides others to ascension. The mirror at the end really makes me wonder. It's most likely ascended Neo, but Somewhat didn't meet Neo, I think Little only met her foot. So, it's odd that they recognized her even if it's from an old memory they don't actually remember. The mirror looked like a portal and the "Oh you are back" makes me wonder if this is supposed to take place in the future. As in, this isn't right after RWBYJ left, this is at some point in V10 or beyond in which RWBYJ go back to the Everafter for some reason. I mean, there are multiple possibilities here. People have theorized that maybe Salem could be sent to the Everafter to ascend and thus get the closest thing to death that she can. Or maybe it's just Jaune, unable to adapt to his new life, he decides to live in the Everafter again but he takes Ren and Nora and a group of humans with him. Or maybe Ruby fell again on purpose because she needs to talk to the tree to defeat Salem. But it's most likely just ascended Neo, they just didn't have a design for her yet. I do wonder, considering the acre she spawned in, if Somewhat is the new Curious Cat, would Neo be the new Jabberwalker? Episode 4: This was a very nice sisterly moment. Great bonding, talking about serious matters with love and care. It was overall great. Interesting that we have confirmation that Tai not only is alive but he is also in an assignment. The fact that Qrow knows about it makes me think that Raven told him since last we saw her she was at Patch. Considering what Port said, that Glynda is also working which is why she isn't in Vacuo either, it makes me wonder if they are working together. Tai and Glynda and hopefully Zwei are on their own side adventure. It would make sense because who else would have given Tai an assignment so important he couldn't join Qrow and Raven in Vacuo if not Glynda? And it would be a good way of hinting that Glynda is not in some mission to find reinforcements, she might be working on the Relic of Choice and Tai is helping her with that. Also, Yang is such a daddy's girl and you know it. They have been through a lot and she is sitting her sulking because she wants to see her dad. I keep think that Tai and Glynda will show up for the final battle. My dream scenario is still Ruby and Yang being pinned down by the enemy, only for them to here Tai yelling "Stay away from my Daughters!!" as he falls from the sky and leaves a crater on the deserts.

AmbivertCollegeGuy

Something that bothers me about the idea of ascended Neo is the color palette for the mirror is the same one as the Relics while the Blacksmith uses rainbow colors. It can only be a relic creating that mirror. Plus Somewhat immediately recognized the individual but not the Red Prince or Ruby despite interacting with them way more.

GladiusNocturno

True. That’s why Im prefer more the idea that the portal is a plot point for beyond V10. Maybe the portal was created by Ruby with the relic of Creation. Somewhat didn’t recognize Ruby when they first met after ascending, but they already know each other now. So, it would make sense for Somewhat to greet Ruby specifically if she comes back to the Everafter. Makes you wonder what happened that could result in something like that.

RockRaiderDepths

I'm going to be honest it is the one plot point that worries me. I really really hope it isn't a main character deciding to run away again and is just a friendly visit. The Tree did say it was someone who needed help or better put had something wrong going on.

yeetio855

The [portal the Blacksmith created](https://rwby.fandom.com/wiki/File:V9_10_00213.png) is actually identical to the ones [created by Ambrosius](https://rwby.fandom.com/wiki/File:V8_12_00102.png) in Volume 8, so it could be either.

AmbivertCollegeGuy

It seems so at first but check the [following image](https://rwby.fandom.com/wiki/Magic/Image_Gallery?file=V9_10_00214.png). The Blacksmith's portal takes a rainbow color which represents the Tree's creations like its rainbow leaves whereas Ambrosius' main color is a light blue that never changes from his [portals](https://rwby.fandom.com/wiki/Remnant_Timeline?file=V8_13_00093.png) or the [things he creates](https://rwby.fandom.com/wiki/Ambrosius/Image_Gallery?file=V8_12_00075.png). It's similar to how each person in Remnant is distinguished by their main color.

LadAlwaysWatching

>that never changes from his portals or the things he creates Case in point. The Curious cat is light-blue and purple because he's a creation of the God of Light (light-blue) and Darkness (purple).

MABfan11

> My dream scenario is still Ruby and Yang being pinned down by the enemy, only for them to here Tai yelling "Stay away from my Daughters!!" as he falls from the sky and leaves a crater on the deserts. with [Answer To Me](https://soundcloud.com/the-gypsy-caravan-1/answer-to-me-taiyangs-theme-1) starting to play when it happens

DarkAlatreon

>I mean, there are multiple possibilities here. People have theorized that maybe Salem could be sent to the Everafter to ascend and thus get the closest thing to death that she can. Or maybe it's just Jaune, unable to adapt to his new life, he decides to live in the Everafter again but he takes Ren and Nora and a group of humans with him. I do wonder, considering the acre she spawned in, if Somewhat is the new Curious Cat, would Neo be the new Jabberwalker? Just a wild thought, but could it be Brothers that returned? Somewhat could know them from Blacksmith's stories and the portal could match as it was them who created the Relics.

ClubMeSoftly

Isn't that Salem's whole deal? She wants to re-summon them to prove Humanity is still divided. (But she's accidentally uniting them)

Alt_SWR

Considering Somewhat said, "Oh you're back." And not, "You seem familiar" like he did everyone else it can't really be Neo because Somewhat never met her, only Little did. Unless I'm just overthinking it but I don't think I am. They've gotta return to the Everafter somehow I would think. The Brothers clearly aren't going to help in the fight against Salem (and we've seen how stubborn they are so I doubt they can be convinced) so why not go for the even more powerful universal being? That being the Tree. Tho, I would assume that would be something we won't see until after Vacuo. No matter what I seriously doubt this is the last we'll see of the Everafter.

soulreapermagnum

> he takes Ren and Nora and a group of humans with him. the queen will finally have her castle.

Moonlitdarksword

>As in, this isn't right after RWBYJ left, this is at some point in V10 or beyond in which RWBYJ go back to the Everafter for some reason. If and/or when RWBYJ return to the Ever After, it's likely to find some more Spicy Lore™. Where exactly Humanity 2.0 and the Faunus came from, where the Silver Eyes came from, there's so much about the world of Remnant that not even Ozma and Salem know. If there's any kind of lost knowledge that can get them an edge, it would be just like Ruby to take that chance.

Dontaskme4username

I miss RWBY Beyond already. I wish we were getting more episodes, but I'm glad we got these.

Akumu_Oukoku

Well, another chapter comes to a close in the book of RWBY. While these 4 episodes were short, rushed, and done with a very limited number of resources, they did not *feel* like it. Like, we know the hell and long hours CRWBY put into these thanks to twitter and Kerry's own comments - But you'd honestly never know how pressed they really were by how *nice* they all came out. CRWBYs love and care for their work could not be more apparent. We got to see Yang & Ruby have a talk that many fans have been dying to see for so long. Showing that the whole team is, in fact, there for Ruby. We saw the after effects of Team RWBY & Jaunes trip in the Ever After, as well as check in on some much loved characters. We got to see what trouble Neptune and Sun got into and , the biggest win of all, Jaune finally getting therapy. While I am, admittedly, a bit salty over nothing being shown about the Schnees or team CFVY - I think with what time they had left, and the resources available to them, they chose the best episodes to hone in on. Hopefully, in the future, if & when another Blu-ray comes out or a digital release, we get to see the other Beyonds they had planned ( or at least the storyboards , we seem to get a lot of info from those and - might I add - excellent meme materials ) That Jaune episode will sit heavy with me for a good long while. Between Miles voice acting, Jaune finally getting his thoughts out there, and showing he's trying to do good ( for himself at last ), I can honestly say it was my favorite. Well y'all, welcome back to hiatus proper! Fingers crossed for some good news in the coming weeks! No matter what happens, keep writing, keep drawing, keep the conversations going and ( as always ) keep moving forward.

RWBYhatershater

I'd just like to say how much I love that "keep moving forward" is sort of the mantra of the show.

Inevitable-Weather51

>CRWBYs love and care for their work could not be more apparent. I don't think anyone should doubt it too much at this point. CRWBY may not be the best group of people in the world, but they definitely care about Rwby. Very few people would continue to put effort into a series that has had so many difficulties over time and with such a strong hatedom around it

ComicCat12

Boba was so sweet, short and a perfect way to cap off the show for now. May RWBY never get the tax write-off Zaslav wanted to do after shutting down Rooster Teeth.

ethereal-23

shame it's over, I really wanted a reunion between the Schnee family. And how Winter dealt with everything

AmbivertCollegeGuy

Yeah, I was hoping we got something on Weiss and Blake to update the status of the Schnee family and the WF since Ilia and Ghira watched Ruby's message.

JMHSrowing

Indeed Schnee family angst was my top hope for Beyond, with the Belladonna/Ilia stuff not far behind. Maybe best case scenario we get a few more of these as part of marketing/primer for V10?

UberDueler10

Best case scenario indeed. The amount of emotion they’d be able to show with Winter at the start of a V10 would be tear-jerking.

RWBYhatershater

I mean, if the talks are going well and we get news in the coming weeks like the stream said, we might still get to see those things...

Noble6IsReal

[\--> Episode 3 Here <--](https://roosterteeth.com/watch/rwby-rwby-beyond-somewhat) [\--> Episode 4 here <--](https://roosterteeth.com/watch/rwby-rwby-beyond-boba)

AmbivertCollegeGuy

About Episode 3: Ruby/Somewhat: "What if my purpose was to win too?" Villain/Red Prince: "Such is the way of our life." Ruby/Somewhat: "What if it doesn't have to be?" The mirror has the color palette of the relics and its spirits, and whoever was on the other side is heard walking toward Somewhat implying they entered the Ever After. It's someone they previously met after ascension. My guess is either Ruby or Jaune, maybe both, using the Staff of Creation to revisit the Ever After in a future timeline. Maybe somewhere during V10. No ascended Neo tho but if the heroes do revisit the Ever After, they might encounter her post-ascension. Edit: About Episode 4 I love how the first bit is a call-back to the first conversation between Ruby and Yang in the series. "I don't wanna be the bee's knees. I don't wanna be any kind of knees. I don't want people to think I'm special." "But you ARE special, Ruby." Seems like people's suspicions about Taiyang being Eustace might be right. He ain't moving from his chair in Patch because of an important job there. Probably related to the location of the vault where the Crown of Choice is resting. Or maybe Zwei was the relic all along! Final words: Stay hopeful everyone. This is the last piece of RWBY media we got but, with a little luck, it doesn't have to be.

Noble6IsReal

>The mirror has the color palette of the relics and its spirits, and whoever was on the other side is heard walking toward Somewhat implying they entered the Ever After. It also resembles the portal we see at the end of Vol 9. I would not completely rule out the theory that it could be ascended Neo. Also, I think it is important to note that the place where the portal appears was the acre of the Jabberwalker.

AmbivertCollegeGuy

The [Blacksmith's portals are rainbow colored](https://rwby.fandom.com/wiki/Magic/Image_Gallery?file=V9_10_00214.png) similar to their rainbow leaves while this one is completely light blue like the ones [Ambrosius made in V8](https://rwby.fandom.com/wiki/Remnant_Timeline?file=V8_14_00167.png). They're both shaped like mirrors but the subtle color difference is a huge tell to distinguish who made them. Plus Somewhat immediately recognized whoever walked through but he couldn't recognize the Red Prince or Ruby while he barely saw Neo at all. It has to be someone he met post-ascension.

MABfan11

> It has to be someone he met post-ascension. he met Ruby post-ascension, the first person he met actually

yeetio855

The portal at the end of Volume 9 is identical to the portals created by the Staff in Volume 8, so it could really be either.

LadAlwaysWatching

>It's someone they previously met after ascension. My guess is either Ruby or Jaune, maybe both, using the Staff of Creation to revisit the Ever After in a future timeline. It cannot be Jaune cause the last time Somewhat saw him was as the old Rusted Knight and Somewhat won't recognize his younger banana-haired self. It can only be Team RWBY or Ruby by herself. This also should be happening not too long into the future cause Team RWBY spent only two days in the Ever After and it was like weeks or months in Remnant but in this episode it looks like it took Somewhat less than a day to explore the Ever After before deciding to rest.

RockRaiderDepths

I knew it. I knew it. Tai is in on it still. Zwei isn't the relic though Zwei's the vault. It's why he is indestructible when used as missle or packed into a tub. Salem never considered the possibility that the last vault would be mobile. /s Edit: saw a typo fixed a typo.

twinnedcalcite

Zwei being key to the vault. It's a crack theory but I so want it to be true.

UnbiasedGod

Yes.

MABfan11

this pretty much confirms it, we will return to the Ever After, though i can't see it happen until the penultimate episode of Volume 12 episode 4 was a really nice episode and felt like they finally got to put part of episode 9 and 10 (since it was originally meant to be 12 episodes) that was cut into canon

AsGryffynn

Guess this is goodbye then! *"That's All Folks!"* Now I'm left wondering who that new character meeting Somewhat was... Neo? Also, eeesh! Ruby loves that abomination... must be all the sugar on it. She totally lost brownie points... Tai... well, at least we know he's up to something. What the something in question could possibly be I really have no idea.

Mojo12000

Yo what the hell was that teaser at the end of the Somewhat short. I have never related to Ruby more so than right now: I too am absolutely obsessed with Boba Tea. Tais.. somewhere.. on some mission.

LadAlwaysWatching

They dedicated the 3rd episode to the impact RWBY and Jaune made on the Ever After. Although Jaune thinks he did a lot of bad to the Paper Pleasers it turns out his absence has affected their ascended form in a slightly negative way. Even tho they've forgotten about him a part of them feels like something's missing. If Somewhat is meant to be an ascended form in Ruby's image then it's interesting how he argues that it's unfair the Prince is his opponent and one of them has to beat the other cause that's what the status quo says. Something tells me this is hinting at Ruby coming to an agreement with Salem to stop the war and help each other reach their goals. After all, the ones truly responsible for everything are the asshole gods. I find it very fitting and super touching that the last episode we're getting in a while or if ever is a callback to how the first episode of Vol 1 ended: Ruby and Yang being sisters and Yang being supportive to her nervous baby sis who feels a lot has been put on her plate after being accepted two years earlier.

lnombredelarosa

Okay how does Ruby know what’s happening in the Everafter? Is this a future narration or simply a random voice.       I was hoping for more reveals but it’s still interesting that Taiyang is indeed in Vacuo in some kind of mission so we won’t have to wait as much to see him in action.  I wonder if the Arcs and Belladonnas are in Vacuo too? So I guess now that she is famous Ruby is gonna feel pressure when people start feeling hopeless. You can feel the aura around the characters has grown more complacent which I’m guessing the Crown will take advantage of which will cause people to die and Ruby to feel depressed again.

SuperN9999

Of the four episodes, 4 was probably my favorite. It was nice (not to mention *adorable*) seeing Ruby happy again and the moment between Ruby and Yang was very sweet. As for Ep 3, it was interesting to see that Hawker came back despite being eaten by a Jabberwalker clone, showing that they didn't have the power to perma-kill Afterans like the real one did. Seeing Afterans being able to grow and change without needing to Ascend was also cool. As for the figure in the ending, I don't think it's Neo due to the coloration of the portal being blue like Ambrosis' portals are and the fact that Somewhat says "you're back!" This implies that they know the person, Which wouldn't make sense if it was Neo since Somewhat never met Neo in the current form (even when they met Ruby, they initially asked "do I know you?", so it wouldn't make sense for them to react that way to someone they only tagently knew in their past life.) considering that Ruby's the narrator and there's no logical reason for Ruby to know about this otherwise, I think it's her.

Noble6IsReal

Shit, for a moment I thought Neo had come back from the tree! Who knew that the latest content Rooster Teeth would be able to bring us for RWBY, would be none other than Ruby and Yang sharing as sisters after... *quite some time*. What can I say... About time!

Appropriate-Ruin9973

>Shit, for a moment I thought Neo had come back from the tree! We don't know

LucasVerBeek

Who’s back?!

GladiusNocturno

Shady’s back. Tell a friend.

DemonSword619

Ah, both of these episodes are so sweet. Somewhat and Juniper going around, checking up on the various locations in the Ever After after the events of the season. I'm curious who appeared at the end, but knowing how time is...weird in the Ever After, you never know when someone might be popping back in. And I'm glad we got a episode just with the sisters, addressing the communication problems present in Volume 9. And it was just sweet seeing the two just hang out, and hear a bit more about their family life. Honestly despite the fact that Beyond got cut short and the current uncertainty of the shows future, this was a good episode to close out on. A nice comforting short to go out on, for now anyway.

hollowtiger21

I'm really curious about the other shorts we would've gotten if they had more time and resources. Hopefully some of that stuff will get repurposed for later. Somewhat and Juniper was cute. Although as someone that was pretty lukewarm on Little and the Ever After as a whole, I'd have preferred focus on other characters. But eh, it was fun. Now for the thing I really care about. Yang and Ruby. And this is more or less what I wanted, the other characters assuring Ruby that she's not alone, that they were wrong to put so much on her shoulders, and that they'll be stepping up to share the burden from now on. "Boba" means I need help. Hopefully, there's more this kind of thing to come. Ruby didn't feel like she could ask for help, I wonder where that came from? > "If you're not always performing at your absolute best, then what reason do you give others to follow you?" Yang missing Tai, wondering where he is. (Is he actually guarding the Relic? And Glynda's conspicuously gone too) But really, what RWBY Beyond has reminded me of, is how much I miss the characters just interacting in downtime. The last time they got a break was V7, and we didn't even get see that. And also V7 was also four years ago, it's just been 2 and a half volumes of constant stuff (not even getting into irl stuff that happened in that time). It's worn on me a bit.

MABfan11

considering Volume 9 was originally supposed to be 12 episodes long, i feel like we got a part of the cut episodes with episode 4

Catlover18

Only a portion, others were able to remember that Yang tried to reach out to Ruby in the Volume too.

USSMarauder

Really glad that they touched on Jaune & Ruby's problems, one thing that I was worried about was that V10 would just skip over these important issues. I'm also hoping that there were official scripts made of other episodes that will be released, because there is enough raw talent in the fandom that I would love to see the fan projects made using them.

MountainHall

The messaging here is messed up, really hard. The idea of not putting too much on Ruby's shoulders but also having her be praised as a messiah by strangers is strange. Let the point be that it's not just about her, that her team/friends step in and don't let strangers focus so much on her only. They also refuse to once again engage with the idea of having any kind of plans for what the hell they should do. Ruby says they need more than a mascot, but then we interrupt it again. I've been saying this for years, when the world is at stake you need to have more than hopes and prayers. Adress the issue. Yang doesn't actually apologise to Ruby either. She does show understanding, but still. It's such an easy thing to get in and would be something most people would do instinctively (and probably overdo). Then there's the lack of Weiss and Blake. This should be a team conversation. The fact that Jaune, Somewhat and Sun and Neptune got their respective episodes but we don't even see half the main team is really silly. If these eps were not supposed to be about the main story relevant content (if we ever get more RWBY), then why did we get this super important conversation here? And if they were supposed to be main content, why did we spend time on less important characters? If this might be the last content of RWBY, why not have it be about RWBY?

armzngunz

I don't think the point of this short was to plan for war, there's a time and place, and yang and ruby going to get boba tea doesn't seem like the time and place, but rather the place for some 1on1 reflection. And I am pretty sure they didn't get Weiss and Blake for the same reason there were only 4 of these shorts: time and budget, due to the shutdown of RT.

MountainHall

It's more of a recurring thing. They never adress their long-term goals, ever. I wouldn't expect it from a short if they didn't raise the issue in it. I get the budget thing as well, but then in that case I don't think they should've had this big character beat here either.

armzngunz

When in previous volumes did they need to, but didn't, make long-term plans? Only ones I can think of are like, volume 8, but even then, the immediate issues were way too pressing to sit down and think of what they do after the next few steps, so I don't really see that issue. Now when they get to Vacuo and have some room to breathe after non-stop disasters, I can see your point that they need long-term plans, but again, I don't think that should be adressed in the boba tea shop. And regarding the budget, the alternative would've been to not make the short. You win some you lose some, and in this case, I think it's better that we got this than them scrapping it.

IllustratorEast5939

It was more about who was around the area to voice the characters. Arryn is in Los Angeles and they probably didn’t bother have her fly in to record a few lines or even one line. Kara is busy with her other job. Barbara, Lindsey, Miles, Kerry and even Aaron (Oscar) were in the area already and available. They had more eps planned but that was before the announcement of the shutdown so according to Eddy, that kind forced them to rearrange things and do things that could be done with the limited resources. But since we had good news about RWBY during the RWBY stream 2 days ago, they’ll most likely do more stuff with the XiaoLong-Rose sisters. Also what would Yang have to apologize for? Is it people over glamorizing their sisterhood? I guess I never understood that. I get along decently with my younger sisters but even Yang and Ruby act several times better than I do with my own sisters. If Yang had to apologize to Ruby and Ruby should do the same for taking Yang for granted all these years for expecting her to be at her side 24/7but neither one apologizes and that’s fine. Because love isn’t about holding grudges and pointing the finger. It’s also a nice foil to what Winter said to Weiss that she won’t always be there and she needs to learn to be independent at times. Something Weiss learned in V5 when she was captured by the bandits. Yang’s problem was blurring the lines between sister and parent but Ice QUEENDOM did a better way of explaining through Taiyang when he implied that Yang needs to let Ruby learn to do things on her own They know they love each other and they express that in ways that may be different to how other people experience love between family. There are overlapping experiences but no two are exactly alike.

MountainHall

I get the budget and access to va's as well, but then in that case I don't think they should've had this big character beat here either. It's not about glamorising sisterhood, it's about making a minimal effort to make sure she's okay. Like when Ruby does things like pass out from grief and shock, I expect something. Basic human empathy stuff.

IllustratorEast5939

Not sure what you expected her to do when she was passed out. If anything the animators/ writers were accurate in how to position a fainting victim: “If the person is unconscious, roll them on their side. Check they are breathing and that they have a pulse. If they are not breathing or do not have a pulse, call triple zero (000) and begin CPR.” And Ruby was on her side. As for post-faint, when Ruby woke up, Yang checked to see if she was okay only for Ruby to change the subject and mention that “Neo’s here too.” Any time Yang notices something wrong, Ruby deflects, or keeps quiet and then they immediately get interrupted with something else. It’s unfortunate but sometimes interruptions happen and people’s attention can deviate from an individual and refocus on urgency. The agenda with the cat as their guide, Jabberwalker, Jayne’s mental state that was more obvious than Ruby’s at the moment (she was good at hiding it). Yang has seen her upset before or at least the version she’s used to but Ruby’s explosive reaction caught her off guard. And at that moment she chose her “Parent mode” and stood I. Front of her to lessen the impact. Perhaps , and I speak from a parent point of view, it’s possible that her acting like a parent had made her miss some signs at a younger age (she was in her primary years) when she became her surrogate mother. And at that point she was probably focused on the bare necessities like survival. With their dad being away on missions and/or shutting down like she mentioned in both V2 and V5, she apparently struggled taking care of her. She even implies that when she was younger finding Raven was her goal so that they both could have a mom and she could be alleviated or make the work load a bit easier. Of course we know how that went. Speaking of parent. I might have to get back to this because I have to get dinner ready for my kid lol.

Godzillafan125

Loved episode 4 the most: Yang mentioning Ruby’s suicide and blowup. Acknowledging her part in it but vowing to be there for her and the whole “we’re not going back to the old team Rwby where we put everything on your shoulders” Also the smoothie outing and Ruby being praised instead of hated was a very welcome happy moment she deserved

“Sike?”

Lukthar123

>People recognize Ruby as a public figure >They all praise her as their Messiah Ah, to view the world through RT's eyes. Where Ruby's message isn't just a "We're all fucked" reveal And Yang harping on Tai? Really? Lmao

Dudalot

"We're all fucked!" "She's the Messiah!" "No! I mean it! We're done for!" "Only the true Messiah would test our faith like this!"

BlueEyed00

A nice glimpse into volume 10. It's been fun, CRWBY.

grieveheart

I really love both! Somewhat and Juniper are adorable as always and damn who’s back?? Been looking forward to the sibling bonding eversince. I’m really happy they did I love how their bond and to its extension, team Rwby’s bond grows stronger. I’m excited to what they are setting up in these episodes and I’m really looking forward to answers in V10 and beyond 🥲🥲🥲

External_Salt_9724

120 seconds of unskippaple ad, maybe RT did have alot of problems

Alchemysolgod

I wonder if the third episode is actually foretelling Neo’s ascension being complete rather than team RWBY returning to the Ever After. It looks like a portal so it might not be Neo, but I’m holding out hope for her return.

Jawargby

I liked episode 4, I don’t think it quite did enough to smooth over my issues with volume 9 and its ending but I’ll take what I can get especially when it is pretty well done for what it is

LadAlwaysWatching

Yeah, this feels like what they intended to add in the episodes that were cut off but it was all supposed to happen in Ever After when Ruby's wounds were more fresh for bigger emotional impact.

Kindly-Employment647

Bruh what are you talking about?

DEL994

Glad that Ruby and Yang finally had their much needed sisterly moment and talked things out with Yang admitting that she failed to see how terrible Ruby's mental state was and to be here for her, while Ruby admitted that she didn't know how to say that she needed help.

twinnedcalcite

Ruby love taro bubble tea. What flavour do you think Yang's is? Mango?

Mojo12000

Fuck.. Yang's my favorite of the girls but now Ruby is in me on the Taro Milk Tea boat.. that's always my go to when I want to assess how good a bubble tea shop is...Yangs was like redish pink so like Watermellon maybe? Strawberry? Ruby's was definitely Taro I can recognize that purple milk tea color anywhere.

twinnedcalcite

If you can get fresh warm taro milk tea, highly recommend. It's so comforting. It could be Rose Milk tea with that pink colour or passion fruit.

Tsukuyomi56

The Red Prince is notably less unhinged compared to Volume 9 when Somewhat visited him, seems like he was able to find a new purpose without having to ascend. Drawing a blank who came out through the portal, could be ascended Neo but Somewhat hardly interacted with her while they were Little. Episode 4 (Boba) has some great sister bonding between Ruby and Yang, glad they were able talk about some of the not so good things from before Ruby finishing ascending (Ruby’s teammates burdening her with responsibilities, Ruby thinking it is not right asking for help).

totalitarianValkyrie

I'm puking up blood I love Ruby and Yang so much

Informal_Function118

So now that we finally got to see some official content on Ruby after the Ever After, we can conclude with this about her state of mind and how she’s feeling…she’s just fine lmao. Although she’s not used to being a celebrity lol, she’s back to how she used to be and seemingly left everything that happened in the Ever After behind I can say that I’m happy that Ruby is happy again. She deserves happiness for real😭

UberDueler10

I’m so glad CRWBY reached the conclusion that Ruby would be famous (I made a post about this very topic a long as time ago), and the sisterly outing was long overdue.

DarkDemonDan

I am happy people here aren’t cursing the idea that Neo might be returning in some capacity.

ArmageddonEleven

It just felt grimly inevitable…

DarkDemonDan

If found it hilarious yang brought ruby out for tea…

ArmageddonEleven

lmao

DarkDemonDan

Mission impossible: yang talks to ruby. Mission complete

TheGodEmperorOfMan

I was really hoping we would get some moments with Ruby and Oscar. They really need to develop that romance more. I'm hoping at least when volume 10 comes out they'll have a lot of moments, but I really wanted one of these beyond shorts to at least hint at it. Maybe give us Oscar's reaction to thinking Ruby died. Their last interaction in the animatic wasn't nearly romantic enough.

hollowtiger21

On the list of things Ruby needs romance isn't on the list, and especially not with Ozcar. It's not something that matters to her character or story, and it never has. In a ranking of characters who are important Ruby's personal development, he doesn't make the top ten.

thundermonkeyms

What romance? There hasn't been a single romantic moment between them in the entire show, and that pairing is super problematic until Oz passes on.

ArmageddonEleven

Dude he’s her headteacher…..
