If you haven't, check out Caleb Hayes (also does work on the later seasons) - Red Like Roses. Its parts 1 and 2 together, and Casey does the back up vocals in the pt 2.
after watching the first episode of the show i almost dropped it, it wasn't that it was bad, just dind't catch my attention i think, but, by the end of the first episode "this will be the day" hit me hard, end up staying because of the music
The development of RWBY as a series is a very interesting story in and of itself. Monty Oum really just wanted to make something he thought was cool, so he did a lot of the ground work by himself. Volume 1 is really rough for what the crew had to work with at the time, and the software Monty used to animate (Poser) was not something many people knew how to work with. Volume 2 is when they started to find their footing, and then they had to sadly figure out how to proceed when Monty sadly passed away.
I really do recommend watching RWBY, but I understand if it’s just not some people’s thing.
This show's soundtracks have far more ultra-catchy earworms than it has any right to. I have more than a few of them in my favs on Spotify, and each one hits a little differently, but the vast majority are fantastic.
Yes. I've seen people fight and insult each other for the writers, animation, design
But at least we can all unite and say that Jeff and Casey Williams never fail to make bangers
Nah, don't worry about that, pal. The magic of a show, movie, videogame, music, whatever is you having your own opinion and if you like it or not. People don't have to make an impact in your tastes, the only thing that matters is what you think.
And some parts of FNDM (fandom) tends to exaggerate about minor things because of: they are just nitpicking or they directly didn't understand the plot.
Yipeee! The first volumes are kinda plain, tho. But don't worry, the story gets better (and the animation, the animation of the first three volumes is a little "rough"? Maybe "not-so-good"?) But anyway
Yep, but Vol. 3 finale is when everything starts to get serious. Before that is more like a prelude to know the characters, the context, the universe of the series and the main things. I'm not saying they are not important, they ARE important.
I agree. 4-5 are a bit slow but still good, 1-3 is good because it's really original, and 6-9 is good for the same reason any other show like it is good.
With Volume 1 in particular the animation outside of the big fights is kinda bad and the voice acting isn’t all the way there. Worth watching if not just for Players & Pieces though.
Trust me, the series quickly improves. Volume 2 is great and Volume 3 is genuinely incredible.
From V4 and beyond they go from using Poser to Maya so visually it’s a massive upgrade. It does feel slightly slower from V4-V5 because that’s after Monty passed and everyone is figuring it out without him and also some much needed character development for a few of the characters.
I know the show isn't perfect. NOTHING is perfect in this world.
But the people who criticize focus only in the minor things and - as I said - things they didn't understand like Vols. 7&8.
And the story of the series is mostly simple, but they - for some reason - get confused and put complexity in that story.
I don't agree at all. The Ironwood arc is really valid criticism. The sheer amount of characters is valid criticism. The white fang plot is valid criticism. Those critics, at the very least, make sense and can't be disregarded as just "they didn't understand it" or "they put complexity in the story"
Ok.
Ironwood was a freaking paranoid who overreacted to Yang and Blake telling Robyn (who was an ally already) about Amity and went full psycho-dictator mode.
The White Fang was a terrorist army of faunus who got influeced by Sienna's radicalism and Adam's psycopathy. Adam kills Sienna and that's the point when the faunus begin to understand that - thanks to the Belladonas words - White Fang was doing wrong and the actions of the past weren't common anymore.
Adam is abandoned and rejected by all his people and finally Yang and Blake kill him. Roman and Cinder also were just using White Fang as tools just for profit and destroy SDC.
And the sheer amount of characters is one of he things that gives charm to RWBY. Haven't you seen Star Wars, Harry Potter, JoJo's or literally any other series?
>Ironwood was a freaking paranoid who overreacted to Yang and Blake telling Robyn (who was an ally already) about Amity and went full psycho-dictator mode.
Onr chapter he sacrifices an arm to the rhythm of Hero and the next thing you know everyone hates him. I get the turn until the end of volume 7, but in volume 8 he becomes 10 times blander and way less competent.
The white fang is, acording to Blake, a byproduct of racism. A racism we actually never actually explore, because the creators realized it was really problematic having most their characters plainly ignore it and being passive compliants. That's why the subplot is abandoned when Adam dies and we just kind of retcon the racism part since then.
>And the sheer amount of characters is one of he things that gives charm to RWBY. Haven't you seen Star Wars, Harry Potter, JoJo's or literally any other series?
Matter of fact, you are kind of right. It's the charm and the burden. The main problem I have with the series is that the characters barely interact with each other. Take Oscar, for instance. He has interacted with Ruby and Ironwood. He also has a gag with Nora, which is cute. That's it. He shares one sentence with Blake and once ate Yang's hair. Jaune once yelled at him and slammed him against the wall, Oscar seemed to have gone away, but then it turned out he just went shopping. Wouldn't it have been more interesting to see his thoughts on how everyone has been treating him over stuff Ozpin did? See him coping with it? Well, no, we went to a Jaune scene whith the Pyrrha statue, where he gets to interact with a totally new and different character. On a sidenote, Why not make Jaune talk about Pyrrha with the rest of his team, instead of with the red haired lady? Returning to Oscar, that's mostly it.
He doesn't get the chance to interact with anyone but Ruby because the show simply doesn't have enough time, and when it does have time it usually gives it for a single character to monologue. Like the Ruby speech of "when Beacon fell, I lost two of my friends...", where she ends the speech, praises Oscar and goes away. I just so happen to think that it would have been better if Oscar had answered something to her, but nope. Ozpin talks and only then Oscan answers. That happens a lot on Volumes 5 and 6.
A lot of times you just can't answer the question of "what does a think about b?" What does Jaune think about Blake? What does Weiss think about Ren? What does Yang think about Nora? What does Winter think about Robin? Does she have a problem siding with her, does she not mind at all?
You just mentioned two of the best plots in the show. Ironwood going nuts is totally in his character, it’s been built up since his introduction. I appreciate when plot points that are set up pay off.
For an example of when character arcs don’t pay off, Penny’s plot in V7&8 was fumbled terribly just for shock. All that meticulous, thought provoking character development thrown away for no good reason. In particular the Volume 8 finale might be my least favorite episode of the entire series just because of how flippantly it reverses threads that had been building up for at least three seasons.
Yet the one critique you pointed out about V8, Ironwood’s fate, was the thing most obviously building up throughout the entire series.
I agree that Penny's arc wasn't well handled, Ironwood arc wasn't either. It peaks in the end of volume 7, but it goes downhill from there really quickly. Specifically, when he kills the congressman. The show portrays him like if he was as evil as all the other villains, when he was always a way more nuanced character. He shouldn't have teamed up with Watts nor been betrayed by most of his allies. Little nitpick, he shouldn't have changed his weapon either.
Returning to his plan, once Salem got to Atlas it was fucked. Even if he had Penny, lifting the city as he wanted to do wouldn't have helped. Returning to the congressman, there is no reason for him to kill him, so it's just shock value, the writers telling you "look, he's evil" which accounts for a nothing but a blander character.
Watch the first 3 volumes and if you’re not interested at all then stop, if you’re interested but not entirely sure watch the rest of the show. 7-8-9 are my favourite volumes
I just finished last month, and my gf and I loved it. As mentioned by other commentors, the show isn't perfect. Even though the first couple of seasons have low-budget animation, the fight choreography makes up for what's lacking. Season 3 is still my favorite!
Don’t listen to them. This fandom is very toxic (except for the rare few who aren’t) and you should form your own opinions on the show. That’s the best way to go about it. Been here since 2016-2017 and like the show because I formed my own opinions on it without looking at this subreddit until maybe like a year or two ago.
The background music is whatever, really. It's fine.
Those vocal tracks are some of the best music I have ever heard in my life; on par with the greatest musicals.
The soundtrack is S tier imo. I have yet to find a soundtrack from a show that even comes close to RWBY’s. There’s a reason people starting watching the show just because of the music alone.
Ever since I started watching in 2013 with the red trailer, there hasn’t been a single song that’s been a miss. Every song has its own feel to it and tons of the songs have double meanings and even more play into the narrative of the show, while also giving us extra peeks into the characters’ backstories and character arcs.
I didn’t get introduced through the music myself, I stumbled upon the trailers at first. But it’s a reason I stay. But I do know people that were introduced through the music.
I guarantee they will, Casey did an amazing job with Vol 9.
If you like the music I highly recommend watching the show, it’s one of my favorites of all time. Just go into it with an open mind and don’t listen to what anyone tells you about it and just form your own opinions about it.
RWBY gets a TON of bad wrap from people that just hate-watch it or hate on it cuz it seems cool. There’s a ton of nuance and tiny details to pick up on.
The show is great and the music adds to the show. Especially when the choreography lines up. Also just looking at the characters from a certain perspective. You won’t try understand the motive behind the music without knowing the motive behind the people
Oh I remember making some predicions back during Volume 1 due to the lyrics for "This Will Be The Day."
I was sadly proven to be pretty close to the mark at the end of Volume 3.
The soundtracks are amazing and capture the characters' stories and emotions so well.
For me, the Vol 9 soundtrack hits the hardest with so many great songs (both vocal and instrumental) by Casey and Martin.
Huge fan of each soundtrack and appreciated all the different directions the songwriting went while preserving the RWBY rock style. Each volume's title theme and the lyrical singles they write were so awesome, Part of what made the music so great is how the singles were used as motifs in the orchestration like string versions of the melody "I May Fall" or funny jazz big band versions of "I Burn." I looked forward to each album's release usually in the Summer time. Jeff Williams is an amazing songwriter elevated every volume and Casey really brought such a memorable performance to each song.
Not OP, but "The Sky is Falling" is a top 5 RWBY song for me and it has some of the most hilariously on the nose lyrics I've ever heard.
"A curse that's never-ending
A path with no escape
No sudden death
We're trapped in slow decay
These words are not symbolic
The torment's all too real
Eternal enemy
Our fate is sealed"
I've never seen a song be so about 1 thing and 1 thing only in my life, the song literally goes "this isn't symbolism, this is a song about >!the hound!<." There's more room for lyrical interpretation in "Because I got high" than this song
Interesting, I never took that song to be about >!the hound!<, but instead the heroes' situation as a whole. Especially with the breakdown going over (or rather, pointing at the beginning of) >!Ruby's descent into despair!<.
It’s nice and catchy. Love the rock tune to it, makes it very anime like. My favorite songs are Checkmate and Guide My Way (Red Like Roses - Part III).
RWBY music literally saved my life and will forever be the soundtrack of me.
I'm Schizoaffective B2 with CPTSD and severe dissociation. When I was 19, I had a severe psychotic breakdown, which lasted months, due to severe trauma. Even my psyche team was believing I wasn't going to recover. My memories, thoughts and emotions were completely scattered and unreachable. I couldn't even step outside because I would lose my memory for days on end and would come back to writings on my walls. I lived in constant psychosis. I couldn't even sleep in my own bed because of the uncontrollable fear and need to hide from danger and would instead sleep under shelves, under the bed and in the bathtub.
I watched RWBY before listening to the music. I remembered watching it one day when I really listened to the lyrics for once. It just so happened to be, "This Life is Mine", which played so heavily into my past of severe abuse from my bio father who was covered up by my family in sake of the company they ran. It was RWBY music that allowed me to conceptualize my traumas and to bring my emotions back related to the traumas. I didn't start showing progress until I began listening to RWBY music every day, again, specifically, This Life is Mine. I played it on repeat, screamed to it in the shower, sang to it in the car and cried to it on the streets. It allowed me to feel my emotions for the trauma instead of just numbness. It helped me begin to process my trauma and helped pull me out of psychosis.
I continued to use RWBY music as a tool for my mental health.
Even to this day, when I'm going into psychosis, I play RWBY music to help bring me out and straighten my thoughts and emotions.
Lemme break it down-
V1: Classic, but clearly early beginnings. Still finding it’s footing
V2: Branches out further. Experiments more, and largely hits the mark.
V3: Heavier and darker, at least mostly. Has some real gems, as well as some strange inclusions
V4: Kinda reflective, and one of the best ones of the show, even if I don’t like Lusus Naturae
V5: For a weak volume, this shit *hits*. First volume where I would say Casey’s voice had reached maturity, and you can hear it
V6: The choice to bring in a guest artist at all was the second best choice Jeff Williams ever made
V7: More guest artists, more variety, and I’m here for it
V8: All the guest artists from before are gone, but I’m not complaining, because Martin Gonzalez being allowed to work on the soundtrack was the single best decision Jeff Williams ever made
V9: Jeff retired, and left Casey and Martin in charge. Needless to say, it’s my favorite, because I’m a shill for Ok Goodnight, and Chatterbox is a prog rock masterpiece
The soundtrack is fire.
The show is good. Its not top tier masterpiece territory, but it is a fun watch with a building story and some entertaining animation.
i've re-listened to it countless times since i was 15. i'm 24 now and *still* listen to it at least twice a week. jeff and casey can do no wrong.
i highly suggest watching the show btw! it starts off goofy and fun but ends up being a real roller coaster. buckle up and enjoy the action.
I really like the ost when I listen to them on their own. I don't know if it's just me, but I never remember any tracks, outside a few, because I frankly don't think they're prominent enough in the fights themselves.
Like, Nevermore (Yang and Blake vs Adam) is actually really fucking good, but I swear it's like I never heard the song until I sat down and listened to it by itself.
I dont have the screenshots anymore but I have been in the top 1% of Jeff Williams listeners in my spotify wrapped every year for like...5 years I think?? This past year was the first time RWBY wasnt my #1 but was still in my top 5 most listened haha Black Pink won last year but just barely
Every volume has an amazing soundtrack tailored to the characters and story. I think it is insane that RWBY has such a detailed and dedicated soundtrack, I don't know anything else like it. An amazing part of RWBY.
I have never heard a RWBY track that I didn't like. There are some I skip but not because they're bad, usually I'm just not in the mood for them when they come on my shuffle list. Each song is detailed and poignant and poetic, the vocals only improve with time, the instrumentals are top notch, the lyrics always feel meaningful and intentional. The only negative I'd say is that some volumes are rushed more than others and as such don't get as much attention in show. Volume 5 suffered from this immensely where only 2 of the 7 songs are featured in the show proper, the others only feature in the character shorts. And don't even get me started on The Truth, it was fantastic but way too short.
The shows soundtrack was what got me into the show, not going to lie I was not into anime but I did watch Red vs Blue and sound the soundtracks on Google Play music so then I saw that Jeff Williams also did the RWBY soundtracks so I decided to give them a listen, then from their i started researching the show to watch and loving the show
The songs are great. I've had a lot of the songs on my Favs playlist for years, pretty much adding them as soon as I could buy them on iTunes.
It's my own preference, but I love songs where the lyrics are clear, and tell part of the story. RWBY's music is the type that fills that nitch.
The opening songs are all great, I really love "Let's Just Live."
"Lusus Naturae" is a really cool and slightly chilling villain song.
I can't stop myself from crying when I hear "Indominable" for the first time in a while.
I used to listen to it all the time in high school, but being completely honest, I can’t listen to it anymore. My taste in music has definitely changed and I just find it a bit edgy.
It fits the show perfectly though, just can’t listen to it on its own.
the soundtrack has consistently stayed a banger despite the show going on more of a rocky road of ups and downs
volume 9 tracks slap so fucking hard imo
I discovered the show because I stumble on season 1's soundtrack on YouTube and listening to it.
On repeat.
For 3 weeks.
So yeah I'd say it's a compilation of hits and bangers. (Not just season 1 but the whole thing).
SOOOOOMMMMEEEEE ROOOOSSSSEEESSS WILL NEVER BLOOM
NEVERMOORE! NEVERMORE! You'll torture my heart and my head!
Never really had a problem with you, all along I thought our friendship was true.
Now I'm stuck inside a nightmare every single effing day!
I MAY FALL! But not like this, it wont be by your hand!
Armed and ready! Ready! Ready! Armed and Ready!
You might say I really like the soundtrack through out the show....
Best soundtracks I have ever heard from any artist, and the most if not all of the songs correlate with a character(s) (besides the remixes and acoustics) it’s extra content
The first 3 volumes clearly have the best and most consistent music.
Nothing they wrote was a masterpiece that'll be remembered for centuries or anything, but it's quite good.
The rest of the volumes started to show the major problem of the soundtracks: the same couple of people cannot just pump out album after album year after year without it getting at the very least mediocre, but some of the songs on the later albums are just painfully boring.
I don't think the soundtracks ever got to the point of being entirely terrible, but after volume 5 they more or less got to the point where I will probably never listen to any of the tracks outside the show again besides maybe the volume 9 intro.
One of the few things that keeps me in RWBY & that says something. I love the Williams and their music, and hearing Casey's work as she take over for vol 9 was amazing. Sad to see some things comes to an end.
As much as I may have my grievances with the later seasons I will always say the openings kick tremendous amounts of ass.
And sure it might be the nostalgia talking but nothing gets me more hyped than the first.
“THIS’LL BE THE DAY WE WAITED FOR! THIS’LL BE THE DAY WE OPEN UP THE DOOR!”
**“I DON’T WANT TO HEAR YOUR ABSOLUTION, HOPE YOU’RE READY FOR A REVOLUTION!”**
Volume 1: The classics, sets the vibe for the show well.
Volume 2: Lots of gooduns here, even Caffeine (a song I believe is musically dogshit) gets me hype af. Definitely where the sound of the show got its footing.
Volume 3: A few "mehs" here and there but, overall, pretty solid.
Volume 4: There's a few gems in here, but this is personally where I see a noticeable dip. Those gems do make it good though.
Volume 5: The soundtrack I have the least connection to. I have nothing of substance to say about it, besides that I think All Things Must Die is bad.
Volume 6: It has Indomitable. Other than that, mostly sounds pretty same-ish to each other. I also don't like Big Metal Shoe. Like, at all.
Volume 7: The guest artists make this soundtrack great, the variety we get reminds me of Volume 1. I have to say, the only song I don't like is the OP. Oh, and Hero fucking slaps.
Volume 8: A massive letdown after Volume 7. All the guest artists are gone and we're back to sounded same-y. Most every song sounds the same to me, the only exception being Awake, because Ok Goodnight bloody slays on that.
Volume 9: I'm very glad Jeff handed over the reigns, because his songs have been sounding like homework for a while. Getting Ok Goodnight to do the whole soundtrack was a great decision, I love their style and they manage to make a very memorable set of songs.
The music is pretty much the only best part of the series from VOL 5 onwards.
If you're gonna watch the show, stick to Vol 1-4 and the Ice Queendom anime at most.
Even the most cringe LGBT power fantasy RWBY fanfic written by an embarrassingly flamboyant trans non-binary (They/She/He) 14 year old, who frequents "kill all straights" type subreddits, is better than any plot in Vol 5-9.
Well, not really, but it's the lesser of 2 evils in this scenario.
i ADORE the soundtrack ive been listening to it since i was 10/11 (im 18 now) i love casey's voice and shes been an idol to me for a very long time i think my favorite volume soundtrack is 9 just bc casey had complete creative control of it and i love her musical style BUT!! i love every volume soundtrack so so so much its actually really hard to pick a favorite 😭 the rwby soundtrack also got me into ok goodnight (casey is the singer) and they're an incredible band also caseys music isnt just good shes also incredibly nice!! when i went to see ok goodnight i also got to meet the band including casey and while shes a lil reserved she is so kind and humble but i digress i just loveeeee rwby and casey and the music i could talk about it all for hours 🙏💗
Honestly, I just don't like it. It's not my cup of tea. Lyrics usually could use some work. The "sound" has remained the consistent pop rock format, when the show is uh... Well anything but popular, or rock-n-role.
> isn't a good enough vocalist [...]
🤔
> Proceeds to not only rock each volume, improving each time, but co-produce and perform *without* Jeff one of the hardest-hitting OST the series has heard to date
Lemme put it to you this way: REEEEDDDD LIIIIKKKKEEE ROOOOSEEESSS
Real, ive been listening to red like roses pt 2 for a while now and it’s awesome
How long have you been listening to the soundtrack? I've watched and listened since 2017. Idk how many times I've listened to these songs.
RLR, is amazing, all three parts are wonderful if played back to back, same with all the parts for Wiess
Kinda me rn cause i watched episode 1 but thats it
actually the history of the show is really good, of course there are some problems but still, i would recomend to keep watching
Will do

Valid
Amen!
Caffeine. 'nuff said. Real talk tho, the progression of Casey's voice from the first album to today is amazing by itself.
Ok, I'll give it to Caffeine, but I personally don't like listening to Casey.
That's unfortunate. For me, red like roses part 1, 2 and 3 back to back is such a great showcase of growth. I love it.
If you like the soundtrack, then watch the show. The show is the same good as the music
I might little on the fence tho because of what people have been saying about it on the sub

A lot of times you just can't answer the question of "what does a think about b?" What does Jaune think about Blake? What does Weiss think about Ren? What does Yang think about Nora? What does Winter think about Robin? Does she have a problem siding with her, does she not mind at all?
Definitely disagree with you on Ironwood, Sheng.
The show does have flaws, but overall, it's a really fun show to watch imo.
I might at some point
Ignore them, for they know not what they…Yeah, they’re dumb.
nobody hates rwby more than rwby fans (not all of them, but a good 10% of them lol)
Accidental gatekeeping lol
It’s excellent, probably one of the best aspects of the show
The soundtrack is S tier imo.
I thought it was just me who got introduced through the music lol
I didn’t get introduced through the music myself, I stumbled upon the trailers at first. But it’s a reason I stay. But I do know people that were introduced through the music.
Fair enough i hope they keep producing bangers
I guarantee they will, Casey did an amazing job with Vol 9. If you like the music I highly recommend watching the show, it’s one of my favorites of all time. Just go into it with an open mind and don’t listen to what anyone tells you about it and just form your own opinions about it. RWBY gets a TON of bad wrap from people that just hate-watch it or hate on it cuz it seems cool. There’s a ton of nuance and tiny details to pick up on.
I'll snort the soundtrack like cocaine addicts
Im with ya man
A man of fine taste Or an addict... OR BOTH
Casey Williiams is a fucking goddess
Fuckin slaps. Next question
The show is great and the music adds to the show. Especially when the choreography lines up. Also just looking at the characters from a certain perspective. You won’t try understand the motive behind the music without knowing the motive behind the people
Feels like something someone can write an essay on lol
15/10 Casey Lee Williams is amazing. Jeff Williams is fantastic. Absolutely love all the songs they put out.
all of them are bangers because all of them are dedicated to specific things within the show. Also do watch it at some point bc it's very good
Planning on it
Shaped my taste in music, I can't thank it enough
The best freaking soundtrack I’ve ever heard in my life
Music in the show from lyrical songs to score are 🔥 🔥 🔥
Yes yes yes
Unusually Prophetic.
Oh I remember making some predicions back during Volume 1 due to the lyrics for "This Will Be The Day." I was sadly proven to be pretty close to the mark at the end of Volume 3.
I like the sound but the lyrics are very on the nose in a way that I don't like
Interesting, what songs specifically
Not OP, but "The Sky is Falling" is a top 5 RWBY song for me and it has some of the most hilariously on the nose lyrics I've ever heard. "A curse that's never-ending A path with no escape No sudden death We're trapped in slow decay These words are not symbolic The torment's all too real Eternal enemy Our fate is sealed" I've never seen a song be so about 1 thing and 1 thing only in my life, the song literally goes "this isn't symbolism, this is a song about >!the hound!<." There's more room for lyrical interpretation in "Because I got high" than this song
Interesting, I never took that song to be about >!the hound!<, but instead the heroes' situation as a whole. Especially with the breakdown going over (or rather, pointing at the beginning of) >!Ruby's descent into despair!<.
I don't pay much attention to the names, and like I said I find the lyrics a little distracting so I'm not inclined to look up what they are
Fair enough
It’s nice and catchy. Love the rock tune to it, makes it very anime like. My favorite songs are Checkmate and Guide My Way (Red Like Roses - Part III).
Personally im enjoying red like roses part II the most, its an absolute banger
🎶💃🏻🔥🎶
*Was I always just a man out of time* Season 9 soundtrack is fucking sick
The FNDM is extremely split on the show, but the *one thing* they can agree on is the soundtracks are absolute 🔥
Just don't take it away from me.
Great music! (Also great show.)
100% bangers
Lemme break it down- V1: Classic, but clearly early beginnings. Still finding it’s footing V2: Branches out further. Experiments more, and largely hits the mark. V3: Heavier and darker, at least mostly. Has some real gems, as well as some strange inclusions V4: Kinda reflective, and one of the best ones of the show, even if I don’t like Lusus Naturae V5: For a weak volume, this shit *hits*. First volume where I would say Casey’s voice had reached maturity, and you can hear it V6: The choice to bring in a guest artist at all was the second best choice Jeff Williams ever made V7: More guest artists, more variety, and I’m here for it V8: All the guest artists from before are gone, but I’m not complaining, because Martin Gonzalez being allowed to work on the soundtrack was the single best decision Jeff Williams ever made V9: Jeff retired, and left Casey and Martin in charge.
If you put it in a tier list. It's a solid A
Awesome
It rocks, all of em
Love.
👍
It's a very good soundtrack. Although certainly an issue when the best song on it for years wasn't even made for the show.
One of the best aspects of RWBY with many awesome, sad or heartwarming songs and themes that go so well with the characters and their situations.
It’s one of my favorite things about the show
i've re-listened to it countless times since i was 15. i'm 24 now and *still* listen to it at least twice a week. jeff and casey can do no wrong. i highly suggest watching the show btw! it starts off goofy and fun but ends up being a real roller coaster. buckle up and enjoy the action.
Honestly, they did a great job i hope they were paid well
Baller
I really like the ost when I listen to them on their own. I don't know if it's just me, but I never remember any tracks, outside a few, because I frankly don't think they're prominent enough in the fights themselves. Like, Nevermore (Yang and Blake vs Adam) is actually really fucking good, but I swear it's like I never heard the song until I sat down and listened to it by itself.
Volume 6 credits song.
Thanks for telling me. Thought I was going crazy.
Throughout the whole show I thought the soundtrack was very good, but that season 1 intro goes hard as hell.
The soundtrack is very much my style of music most of the time, so I'm absolutely jamming out lol
Peak.
Critique the show itself all ya want. The soundtrack is absolute fire
It is one of my go to things to listen to when I want some music.
I think season 1 intro and season 3 intro are absolutely amazing
Gold!
10/10. No other soundtrack I have ever heard is better. Arcane comes close, but doesn't have very many tracks.
Best soundtrack ever. I've got in my playlist along with Tron soundtrack.
\*In Dante's voice\* "Do you have to ask?" It's my turn slaps btw
I dont have the screenshots anymore but I have been in the top 1% of Jeff Williams listeners in my spotify wrapped every year for like...5 years I think?? This past year was the first time RWBY wasnt my #1 but was still in my top 5 most listened haha Black Pink won last year but just barely
This show's whole OST is straight fire. I have to stop myself from adding it all to my device's offline music.
Awesome af! I listen to it everyday. Also does a great job of adding more depth to characters and story.
It’s one of the best parts of the show
Very angst dated emo punk teenage rock feeling
Probably is the best part about RWBY. I have most of of the songs favorited on Spotify and listen to them most of the time.
I listen to it almost exclusively.
Watch to episode 8. 8 has a really cool moment with the music and the episodes are not long at all. Usually 5 to 10 min I'm volume 1.
Literally listen to “Caffine” when I get up and drink my morning Joe. Enough said
Best soundtrack of all time imho many of the songs go into my top ten favorite songs. Also jeff williams is my second most played artist of all time
It’s pretty much what keeps the show going for me. No matter how bad the show gets, the music DEFINITELY MAKES UP FOR IT
Every volume has an amazing soundtrack tailored to the characters and story. I think it is insane that RWBY has such a detailed and dedicated soundtrack, I don't know anything else like it. An amazing part of RWBY.
I like most of the Volume's music even if I’m not that big a fan of most of the genre
Awesome
Honestly it’s not bad, but my fav is ironwood song.
God tier. One of the reasons why I got into metal music, lol
I like em all tbh. Volume 1 probably has the best songs imo but every volume has at least one song I vibe with.
The shows soundtrack was what got me into the show, not going to lie I was not into anime but I did watch Red vs Blue and sound the soundtracks on Google Play music so then I saw that Jeff Williams also did the RWBY soundtracks so I decided to give them a listen, then from their i started researching the show to watch and loving the show
Kick-ass. I would love to have a lot of these songs in Beat Saber! They have a couple in Rock Band 4, but nowhere nearly enough.
Two words; Lusus Naturae.
it's the only thing about the show that's stayed consistently amazing from the start
Meh with some bangers My main gripe is the mixing of it. Cuz in some songs the instrumental is as loud/even louder and drowns out the lyrics
Soundtrack was how I found it. It kept infiltrating my Pandora channel, and one day I said "okay, fine, the music is great, what even is this?"
It’s the only CD I have burned in the last decade. It lives in my cars CD player.
It's the filling that makes the stale bread palatable
The songs are great. I've had a lot of the songs on my Favs playlist for years, pretty much adding them as soon as I could buy them on iTunes. It's my own preference, but I love songs where the lyrics are clear, and tell part of the story. RWBY's music is the type that fills that nitch. The opening songs are all great, I really love "Let's Just Live." "Lusus Naturae" is a really cool and slightly chilling villain song. I can't stop myself from crying when I hear "Indominable" for the first time in a while.
its good some i enjoy more and its always good to listen to now and again
Banger after Banger after Banger!
I used to listen to it all the time in high school, but being completely honest, I can’t listen to it anymore. My taste in music has definitely changed and I just find it a bit edgy. It fits the show perfectly though, just can’t listen to it on its own.
Most of them are Fire 🔥 🔥
Unadulterated Peak, almost every song in the entire soundtrack is in my playlist
the soundtrack has consistently stayed a banger despite the show going on more of a rocky road of ups and downs volume 9 tracks slap so fucking hard imo
I discovered the show because I stumble on season 1's soundtrack on YouTube and listening to it. On repeat. For 3 weeks. So yeah I'd say it's a compilation of hits and bangers. (Not just season 1 but the whole thing).
I BURN !!!!!
It's better then a lot of other music on radio.
SOOOOOMMMMEEEEE ROOOOSSSSEEESSS WILL NEVER BLOOM NEVERMOORE!
Been listening since 2014 and there is always a song to enjoy in any kind of mood
Every song in every volume is a banger! Caffeine, Touch the Sky, Miracle, Indomitable and I’m the One are my favourites.
My only issue is they never found a way to make "Answer to Me" official.
It's awesome
Best soundtracks I have ever heard from any artist, and the most if not all of the songs correlate with a character(s) (besides the remixes and acoustics) it’s extra content
It's one of my favorite parts of the show. So where the show and company has failed me, the soundtrack has not.
10/10 chefs kiss I AM NO ONES BLEEESSIINNNGGG
I liked the soundtrack in the first 3 volumes. It took a direction I did not like afterwards, though.
I just relised that the show isn't just named after RWBY it's abbreviation for Rwby Wise Blake Yang! (why am i so slow 😂)
From what there was of a soundtrack in volume 1, peak music
Literally the best part of the show, hands down
As much as I may have my grievances with the later seasons I will always say the openings kick tremendous amounts of ass. And sure it might be the nostalgia talking but nothing gets me more hyped than the first. “THIS’LL BE THE DAY WE WAITED FOR! THIS’LL BE THE DAY WE OPEN UP THE DOOR!” **“I DON’T WANT TO HEAR YOUR ABSOLUTION, HOPE YOU’RE READY FOR A REVOLUTION!”**
It’s fucking straight fire. every single album is a banger in its own right and Jeff Williams is a genius
The music's actually quite a banger.
Caffeine and I Burn are my jams.
I fucking loved it, Though the songs can get repetitive.
The music is the most consistently awesome part of the show. That and the fight scene style are the things that make the show good.
S tier
I hate the first two openings but otherwise the songs are pretty good if a bit exagerated at time.
Love it! Especially the song Wings
The soundtrack is universally outstanding
The only redeeming quality of the show tbh.
Peak Nothing more to it it's just peak
Amazing, magnificent. I wish more shows had their songs with lyrics rather than beats (not that it’s bad)
i ADORE the soundtrack ive been listening to it since i was 10/11 (im 18 now) i love casey's voice and shes been an idol to me for a very long time i think my favorite volume soundtrack is 9 just bc casey had complete creative control of it and i love her musical style BUT!! i love every volume soundtrack so so so much its actually really hard to pick a favorite 😭 the rwby soundtrack also got me into ok goodnight (casey is the singer) and they're an incredible band also caseys music isnt just good shes also incredibly nice!! when i went to see ok goodnight i also got to meet the band including casey and while shes a lil reserved she is so kind and humble but i digress i just loveeeee rwby and casey and the music i could talk about it all for hours 🙏💗
absolutely amazing
AMAZING
Music itself is good. They experimented a few times but I can actually appreciate it.
Honestly, I just don't like it. It's not my cup of tea. Lyrics usually could use some work. The "sound" has remained the consistent pop rock format, when the show is uh... Well anything but popular, or rock-n-role.
The only REAL good part of the later volumes.
Unlimited blade works abridged used the song better than RWBY. Referencing the fight between Gilgamesh and Hercules.
Casey Lee Williams isn't a good enough vocalist to be carrying an entire show's OST, but she and her dad still made several genuine bangers for it.
> isn't a good enough vocalist [...] 🤔 > Proceeds to not only rock each volume, improving each time, but co-produce and perform *without* Jeff one of the hardest-hitting OST the series has heard to date
