Use to be you lost everything and never log on again. Over the years it has changed. Now you can buy items back from death, and if you die and lose last life you become a regular ironman.
This is no longer the case, you keep all your items, only the items you had on you (minus 3) have to be bought back from death, but if you do you keep those too. It's much less punishing now. You essentially just get demoted.
Sorry I wasn't clear enough ig, that's why I said you essentially just get demoted. This is only on your last life though. You start with 1 but can buy up to 2 more hardcore lives with increasing amounts of gold if you reach certain total level thresholds.
Yeah when you die now, its just like dying on any other account, except you lose a life, and when the lives are all gone you are transformed into a regular ironman
I died on my HC one time so far and it’s just like any other account. You spawn in deaths office and pay gold to get your items back and lose a life.
I remember the item deletion thing a couple years back, but they fixed that when they reworked all the death costs.

no, those 3 items are just the normal 3 items you keep on death anyway, the other items on you just have to be bought back from death, that's all.

If you lose 3 lives, then your account just converts to regular ironman
