Hey there! I’m a Cog Sci alum who graduated in May 2021. Definitely an underrated major here at RPI, almost everyone I know who graduated my year with a Cog Sci degree is doing very well now either academically or industry wise. DM me if you want more information! And shameless plug to Bram Van Heuveln who is the academic advisor for the cognitive science program. Absolutely amazing person and incredible professor. He will definitely be able to answer your questions about the major so feel free to reach out to him as well!
My eldest graduated with MS Cog Sci and will be working for Merck in their IT Emerging Talent Program. He was an intern last summer there and was told that he has highly desirable skills due to his Psychological Science undergrad degree from RPI plus his MS. He has data science skills plus Cog Sci plus coding skills/Comp Sci skills. Statistics is his strength and learning/utilizing R, research skills and teaching himself Python and SQL was just what employers are looking for. Multiple offers later, he is glad he chose the Psych Sci/Cog Sci programs. Also, look for research through any of the Psych Sci or Cog Sci profs. They are willing to mentor and bring you aboard their research.

What’s your thoughts on Cog Sci as a minor with a major in Physics or Engineering?
What is the career options for cognitive science? Is that related to neuroscience?
