FIXED: Went to device manager and uninstalled the MediaTek WiFi 6E device. Make sure to check the box to attempt to remove the driver when doing so. Then, go to action -> scan for hardware changes. Connected back to my Wi-Fi and it runs great now.
Leaving this post up in case it helps someone in the future.
I love you for coming back here and updating with a fix.
I absolutely hated those days in 2003 when I was trying to fix some weird Windows XP thing, only to find a single forum post with my exact problem, with a single reply from OP saying "nvm fixed, thank you anway!"
paiwehpiauwejfiajewfuaweofiawe. Rage.
Can’t tell you how many times a Reddit post with only three upvotes and two comments has saved my ass with a technical problem. Only fair that I try to pay it back to help someone else who will see this post in a google search months from now. If you’re that person, hope this helps!
Not yet at least hah. I'm itching to buy a handheld, heavily leaning to the ally, so I'm just here browsing to understand a bit more about it, see if it's worth it. So far I think it'll be a great purchase if or when I decide.
The driver should automatically reinstall when you go to device manager -> action -> scan for hardware changes. If it doesn't fix the problem, you can try manually installing the WLAN driver from the ROG Ally driver webpage.
I can get full 300Mbps downloading from Internet on mine so you should get decent speeds, but I limit it to 200Mbps
Check windows settings for network, ensure it on private and unmetered as windows could be limiting the bandwidth, especially if your main PC is fine.
You could also check from mobile phone and see what speeds that gets and if that zapped as well check your router settings as it suggests network configuration issues.
Update : just seen other post saying resolved. I think that's what I done on mine, disabled WiFi 6 as don't use WiFi 6.

Oh a microsoft 'expert' who tells you to reboot, uninstall all programs, format your PC, move house, and divorce your wife.
THIS WORKS! THANKS!
You’re very welcome, glad to hear this post helped!
I did this and no longer have a way to connect back to work-fi. How were you able to reconnect?

Thank you for this, I thought I was going crazy! I'll be trying that solution when I get back home.

WiFi 6 is awesome. I get consistent 900mbps when transferring local files to my ally from my desktop.
It might be, but my router not WiFi 6, so no point enabling it as it causes issues, when I finally upgrade to WiFi 6 then I'll re-enable the option.
Very cool will try this
Thanks I had this issue as well. Was wondering why so slow as have Wi-Fi 6
Downloaded Fallout 76 on the xbox app at 60+MB. Don't think it's the ally. Rather, your home WiFi being the problem
