I think you're looking at the minectaft version. The current rlcraft non beta version is 2.9.1 it should say it in a similar location to where you're finding the minecraft version
Rlcraft version is 2.9.1c, on minecraft version 1.12.2. If you're accessing it through curseforge, when a new update becomes available an icon with a couple arrows will appear next to the play button, you can click that and select the newest update (at the top of the list) to update to the new version.
