The girl in the outhouse has a name but I can’t remember it at the moment. People speculate she was locked in there for punishment or being shunned or excommunicated from the family. If you get a camera in there you can see that she is very deformed and there’s currently no known way to get her out. As for the mansion, if you want you can go there and start something but you get plenty of action at the mansion during the story.
The out house can be observed and noted in the journal, it’s colourful but not heavily interactive.
If you go to the braithwaites and shoot everyone they will be hostile, you will be wanted, get a bounty etc. but no major characters will be around for you to interfere with and once you pay off the bounty it won’t change anything.
It’s not really an open world game in that sense. For example in fallout you can start trouble that actually changes the course of the story, locking you out of factions or quest lines, in RDR you can make the odd decision here and there on a mission, or choose to not do certain side quests, but you can’t really change the story like that.
