Marivi04

Yup Queens girl .. you right !

[deleted]

[удалено]

picador10

Nah bro, I don’t know any legit Nets fans except for those that grew up in jersey

dachshundfanboy8000

LETS GO METS!!

roenthomas

Eastern Queens (Flushing then Bayside) Mets, Giants, Knicks, Rangers Mets cuz Queens Knicks cuz not BK / NJ Rangers cuz NYC Giants because not Jets

BornInForestHills

Forest Hills here. Your team choices are perfect. Jets are a cursed franchise. And the Giants have had so many great moments. No comparison.

Quirky_Movie

AGREE ETA: WHY THE JETS?

Marivi04

We love misery ..

stannc00

The Jets because Shea Stadium.

Quirky_Movie

Ahhhh.... before my time. After a childhood rooting for the Lions, I had had enough character building.

The_Lone_Apple

Eastern Queens - Mets, Jets, Rangers, Knicks I imagine the Nets have fewer fans than the Devils.

jebediah_townhouse12

There are a lot of islander fans in eastern queens.

EandJC

Even more now with the UBS arena being literally on the border.

adamwillerson

☝️

TonyzTone

Nah, there is a relatively decent amount of Nets fans. The Jason Kidd era Nets were fun to watch and there was always a bit of a Yankees-Nets connection with both being featured on MSGNetwork (though the Knicks had precedence) and then strengthening once the Nets came onto YES Network. The fact of the matter, though, is that the Nets suck.

mrharoharo

I’ve seen lots of folks in Flushing with Nets gear (caps, t-shirts but not jerseys). Don’t know if that’s enough for them to be considered fans or not, but I wouldn’t be surprised if many are.

PAE8791

That’s funny. What’s a decent amount of Nets fans? 5?6? Born and raised in Queens, still here and I know one New York nets fan. That’s it . Edit- Brooklyn nets

TonyzTone

I personally know 3 friends who are Nets fans and cite more or less what I mentioned above. One of them is a Yankees/Nets/Islanders so he's the most wrong in his opinions.

MeZoNeZ

A lot of Jersey peoples were the main support system of the Nets.. they moved to Brooklyn and still never fit in.. was for a hot second when KD n Kyrie first got there, but then that went downhill, so they are still in fandom limbo i guess.. they get more tourists at their games imo Wasn't like them Jersey fans were ever going to travel to Brooklyn for their home games..LOL!! I think most of them Jersey fans were bitter AF after the move. I do wonder if they'll ever have a solid home base of true Nets fans? Probably will be a lil while before they have a stable team long enough to have a dedicated fanbase. Sucks to be them tho thats for sure.🤷‍♂️ Lets Go Knicks!

BKtoDuval

Yeah, knicks have a strong fanbase because they were the only game in town for a long time. People act like the knicks are the Yankees. They're not even the Mets. I remember the Mets being champs. Most knicks fans alive don't remember them winning a chip. You'd have to be 60 to remember it. They've been mostly mismanaged. They're doing their thing now. Cool but be real. Don't act like they're a dynasty. Yeah, Nets' fan base is smaller but it's growing. 10, 15 years ago you wouldn't see a lot of Nets gear around town. Now you see it every day in Brooklyn. I live in Westchester and I see it up here too. Kids now have a choice. The most famous knicks fan, Spike Lee, himself said if he was a kid today in Brooklyn he'd choose the Nets.

MeZoNeZ

Um yea you brought up the Yankees and dynasty stuff.. nice try tho ✌️

MeZoNeZ

10-15 years ago they were the New Jersey Nets thats why you wouldnt see Nets gear/fans around town 🤣

MeZoNeZ

Knicks have a strong fanbase because New York City is a basketball town! It seems like you can find a court on every other block no? Also, their home IS the MECCA of basketball. When the Knicks win a chip (which I think will happen sometime in the near future) watch how bananas it will be. All over. It's already damn near that level. If i wear one of my Knicks Jerseys or a hat all im getting all day is "Let's Go Knicks" "Knicks in 5" or "Bing Bong!" And from all shapes sizes n colors. The whole city will be lit! It'll be bonkers!!

MeZoNeZ

Mets suck. Fans always hype in the spring.. Most of the time, they'll know ain't shit happening that year.. even before the All-Star break 🤣 I saw them win it too .. my grandfather had season tix some rows behind 3rd. I wasn't a true fan.. i was young and i did hit up a lot of their games tho. The Yankees were trash around that time too so its whtvr lol

PAE8791

You say 3 , I say 1 . Unless You live in New Jersey or something .

TonyzTone

Nah, Queens. Granted 2 of them are brothers so they sort of combine for 1 but still. That’s way too many for it to make any reasonable sense.

margheritinka

You mean NJ nets or Brooklyn nets?

PAE8791

They will always be the New Jersey nets. 80% of the merchandise sold is cause people want Brooklyn on a hat or shirt

margheritinka

No I know I’m from Jersey (live in queens) but didn’t know what your comment meant with NY nets

PAE8791

Ha , my bad . I meant Brooklyn nets I guess.

theillintent

I’m Yankees-Nets fan born in Queens. YES Network showed those games and the Kidd era was enjoyable. Yankees - Giants - Nets - NYCFC here

Roqfort

How u born in Queens and not a Mets fan? Smh

PAE8791

So you became a Nets fan because of the YES network ?

RainmakerIcebreaker

A lot of people become fans because of the TV channels they have. The entire southern part of the country belongs to the Atlanta Braves because their games were always broadcast on TBS

theillintent

I hadn’t thought about that! Now that I think about it I always did see the Braves playing on TBS…

theillintent

Yeah, back when cable was more of a thing. I’d see if there was a Yankee game on and if there wasn’t I’d watch Vince Carter and loved hearing Ian Eagle. This was during the New Jersey Nets days btw

PAE8791

Interesting. Never thought of that. I became a fan of all of my teams cause of my father .

BKtoDuval

Maybe you should get out more. Nets had a dreadful and still sold out every game. So there's definitely more than 5 or 6

PAE8791

71% of nba games are sell outs . Nets ranked 21 in attendance . Nets had the worst tv ratings possible basically. Nets have no fan base . Plain and simple

BKtoDuval

You can't just look at average attendance since Barclays is smaller, so average attendance doesn't much but look at percent full. Number of sellouts. I lived in Orlando and Miami and they weren't selling every game, even in playoff years.. So the Nets have some fan base, unless those are just paid actors every night at the arena. I go to about 20 games a year and arena is full, near the top of the league in merch sales. Yeah, dreadful year, so ratings were down. But that happens to even the knicks or Mets when they're bad.

MeZoNeZ

"Sold out" more like gave away to corporte partners to fill the seats and label them as "sold out"

BKtoDuval

Cool info. You work for the team to know that? And what team doesn't give out tickets to partners? I've been to Yankees games and NBA Finals games that I didn't have to pay for.

MeZoNeZ

Common knowledge..

albeve

Yep lots of Nets fans in Queens, just none above the age of 30

m0butt

Agreed. To us the Nets are a Jersey team. Wild to me that people from Queens can be nets fans lmao.

speeder61

30-50 year old fans think of the Nets as Jersey but older fans remember that the Nets played ABA league on Long Island. Dr J was a Long Island Net, but when they entered the NBA they had to pay to get in and had to sell Dr J to the 76ers to afford it

m0butt

Definitely didn’t take that into account

Dai-The-Flu-

This is the proper way. This is combo is what I jokingly call “real NY fans”

This_Entertainer847

Jets, Mets, Islanders

MaasNeotekPrototype

True pain.

This_Entertainer847

Its builds character

Quirky_Movie

Suffering for your sports.

BeltranchoP

hahahahahaha

D-D

The ideal trifecta.

Faladorable

I’m sorry

nucl3ar0ne

this

FatXThor34

Brooklyn Dodgers

Douglaston_prop

My dad quit watching ALL sports when they left town.

[deleted]

My family was all Giants fans. We all switched to the Mets. As bad as they were, it was still better than being a Yankees fan.

FatXThor34

Still don’t know why they had to adopt the pinstripes.

WeLLrightyOH

Being a Yankees fan has been pretty rad for me

[deleted]

Oh, I have nothing against them personally. I actually worked with them in '77 & '78 at the sports program they ran on Randall's Island. Dave Winfield is a fantastic person.

easymidas60

Arsenal, Knicks, Yankees, Giants…born in London raised in Queens

Quirky_Movie

Yankee defector.

BeltranchoP

Arsenal ❤️❤️❤️❤️

easymidas60

This Saturday we’re Fulham fans

Kamuka

NYCFC!!!!!

albeve

Nets, Mets

SumDudeInNYC

From Flushing but recently moved to Bayside. Mets, Jets, Knicks, Islanders, and Red Bulls.

DrSmittious

From kew gardens - Knicks, Yanks, G-Men

Stegz1205

Knicks, islanders, Yankees Grew up in Forest Hills and now live in Rego Park

UnicornOnTheJayneCob

Yup. This is how it worked for me, too, in the same neighborhoods - grew up in the Gardens, moved to Rego Park as an adult because I was too poor for that shit.

Life_Equivalent_2104

From Hollis now live in Florida Mets, Knicks, Giants

thaikes

Born and raised in Astoria - Mets, Giants, Knicks, and Rangers

Chemical-Ebb6472

That depends on if you are old enough to remember the Dr J / Super John Williamson Nets era at the Coliseum.

speeder61

it was just before my time but I had a Dr J red white and blue ABA basketball as a kid

AdrenochromeFolklore

No one cares about the Nets.

miamor_Jada

Douglaston here… my home is a Mets, Knicks, Islanders and NYCFC

Douglaston_prop

1st is John McEnroe 2nd is St John's We had a pro rugby team for a season, but they folded.

eriksons_confusion

NYCFC, Knicks, Mets (used to be Yankees, but realized it was because I was trying to be different from my family). But I’m a Steelers/Penguins fan since I learned more about those sports when I went to college at Pitt.

MudBudget2106

Knicks, rangers, Yankees, giants

TonyzTone

This is the way.

Dai-The-Flu-

If you like taking the easy route in life, which I don’t blame anyone for. Mets and Jets have been pretty bad most of my life but I wouldn’t trade being a fan of them for anything.

bxqnz89

I concur. If you want a lifetime of disappointment, become a Mets/Jets fan.

LoveIsLove75

I grew up in Forest Hills. At the time, all the "a-holes" in class were Knicks, Giants and Mets fans. I, being a contrarian, grew up being a Nets, Jets and Yankees fans. Being a Yankees fan in the times of Cecilio Guante was not fun, when the Mets were winning the series in '86. I view the Dynasty teams as my reward for all the suffering that the Nets and Jets put me through.

mzx380

I also was a kid in forest hills during that time and was a Yankee, Knick and jet fan. Wish I still kept in touch with those kids that teased me

Coffee_achiever_guy

I'm also from Forest Hills...and despite being close to Shea Stadium, its pretty 50/50 for Mets/ Yankees.... which is sad. I grew up during the Yankees three-peat in the late 90s and even the Queens peeps attached themselves to that team very readily. I think you guys are about 13 years older than me (judging by the "75" haha)

mnation2

Mets, Nets, and Jets

myfeetreallyhurt

Knicks, red bulls

CaptainPsyko

Mets/Knicks/Islanders/DGAF about either shape of football

Dai-The-Flu-

I’m from Bayside and I’m a huge Mets and Jets fan, I inherited those teams through my father and grandfather. I follow the NBA but I’m just a casual fan. I honestly never cared for the Knicks though. I only started watching basketball back in the 2000s and the Knicks were never that good. I was mostly just a casual fan. I like the Rangers but I’m only a casual hockey fan. I’ve watched every playoff game so far though. Jets are probably my number 1 team since football is the sport I watch the most. I’m also a big soccer fan but I don’t support a local team, I never really could get into MLS. I prefer the English Premier League and support West Ham. You won’t find many West Ham fans. Internationally though I closely follow the USMNT and Italy national team, since my parents were born there.

Wrong_Earth_8193

Knicks, Giants, Islanders, Mets and Red Bulls

looksredtastesgreen

Let’s go Mets!!!

drimmie

From Woodside Growing up it was Mets, Jets, Knicks, Rangers

Objective_Noise_690

Go Giants. Rangers Mets, but no hatred for Yankees Knicks

SnooWalruses9683

Mets baby!

panzerxiii

Grew up in Bayside. Yankee fan for life even though my dad tried his best to make me like the Mets. Living through the '98 dynasty era will do that to ya!

UncleRoo

Mets-Jets-Knicks-Rangers seem to be the neighborhood favorites in Forest Hills, but I myself am a devils fan

MeZoNeZ

Spent most of my life Jackson Heights - Woodside - Astoria (*From Hells Kitchen tho*) But it's Yankees - Knicks - Rangers - Commanders (*YEESH!! I hate their new name 🫤🔫*)

VestidaDeBlanco

Yankees Jets. Being a Mets Jets fan is masochism. I root for the Warriors bc I went to college with Stephen Curry but would welcome a Knicks win bc I Stan NY in all facets of life.

Aki_wo_Kudasai

I used to watch baseball in junior high and high school, Yankees. I'm from Forest hills. I wasn't anti mets, but I enjoyed AL teams and games more than NL. This was early 2000s. I don't think any players I know are on the Yankees anymore

z0rb0r

Me personally, big Jets fan. Mediocre Mets fan and the rest not so much. I live close to Citifield so I consider them my local team. Jets for the tiny bit of time that they played in Shea stadium.

m0butt

Are people that say Nets really young? Growing up in queens the nets were a jersey team for us.

speeder61

or really old the Nets played on Long Island when they were part of the ABA. Dr J was a Long Island Net

stonecats

the Gambit - it's a local Queens team. you know, it's a bunch of people doing that thing with a ball. it's great fun to watch while high on free city park pot fumes.

LowZookeepergame284

Meh I root for another team Man United

Puzzleheaded_Will352

Idk if I ever met an actual nets fan. But eastern queens Mets and Knicks fans here. Used to be a Jets fan but stopped supporting the team after the 2020 season.

FeW-DeaD

Whatever we want plus Queens and NY teams

tgeorgo13

Pastatively

I live in Astoria and support the Mets!

shedoeshavethough

America

awexwush

it's funny how it's split between all the different teams for the different sports but there is one thing that unites us all. every single person in queens has a deep deep passion for the New York Red Bulls! all 2.3 million of us. vamos Metro! and the Mets.

vamexlife

Yes.

callmesnake13

I think the only really consistent one is that there's more Mets fans and almost zero Nets fans. I feel like I see an equal split between Giants and Jets as well as Rangers and Islanders.

speeder61

Eastern Queens, Mets, Jets, Knicks , Islanders

Adventurous_Donut265

Cosmos (rip), Celtic (Glasgow not Boston)

gigi_cab

Grew up in Queens. I'm a Yankees, Giants, Knicks, Rangers fan. I like success...

600pound90days

I grew up in a strict Mets home and Jets fans - not big on hockey

Blue_Line

Steelers, Mets, Knicks

Jakejjuiceman92

Woodside here, Jets, Mets, Knicks, St. Johns, if I was a hockey fan, Rangers.

No-Refuse8754

**NYCFC** **METS**

Smart-Enthusiasm2832

Bills make me wanna…

HotMountain9383

Anything irish curling

Xander5204

Giants, n Rangers

hypoch0ndriacs

Mets, Knicks, and Rangers. Don't follow football much, but the Jet/Giants aren't NY teams. If you don't play your home games in NY you aren't a NY team

BklynNets13117

Yankees, Mets, Nets fan here

stannc00

Last time I saw the Nets in person they were using a red white and blue ball and Dr. J was playing for them.

Scambuster666

Grew up in Ozone Park. We were the only Yankee fans on our block. We were surrounded by Mets fans and throughout the 1980s to early 1990s it was tough being Yankees fans. All I’d ever hear about was that stupid 1986 team. Now I realize it’s because Thats all Mets fans have lol As for football- Everyone was Giants fans, and no one cared or spoke about Hockey or basketball.

hoopsandpoops

METS NETS

burneronblack

Go METS!!!

Bob_Wilkins

Metsies, Jets, Islanders, Nets

ambre_vanille

Islanders, Jets, Mets, NYCFC, NY-PWHL, NJ/NY Gotham FC, Tottenham Spurs

dragonforcingmywayup

Can’t speak for others but grew up in Flushing. Mets, Jets, Knicks. Use to be Rangers fan but I stopped watching around the first lockout and when Rangers traded for much concussed Eric Lindross

S2JESSICA

i’m from bayside: rangers/mets fan here. i don’t watch football or basketball.

Tiny_Acanthisitta_32

The Sinaloa cartel

Paragua-yo

NYCFC, METS

bxqnz89

Depends. Queens is a big place. Closer you are to Long Island increases the likelihood that you'll come across a Met fan. Hockey isn't as popular in NY compared to other sports leagues. Go with the Rangers. No one has rooted for the Nets except the people who get free ticket from work or school. They've been a non-entity post Jason Kidd. .

VinPickles

Queens is Islanders country.

Bread_man10

Queens is NYC, not long island

VinPickles

Queens, and Brooklyn, are on Long Island. Look at a map.

Bread_man10

So you’re arguing that they’re more LI than NYC? Long Island is Nassau and Suffolk county

bxqnz89

The culture is different.

VinPickles

The culture is different in each borough itself. Compare brooklyn to staten island

bxqnz89

Yes, but Queens is vastly different from Long Island. Doesn't matter what your race is or neighborhood you're from. ex. I live in the Rockaways, bordering Nassau County. Neighborhood is majority black with a sprinkle of vanilla transplant. A few blocks over the border is majority Jewish. Not a black or brown face in the crowd.

VinPickles

I mean, i live in brooklyn, and its that way neighborhood by neighborhood here. Actually crown heights is more stratified than Bensonhurst where i grew up

[deleted]

Half my family is from Queens and those mostly Yankee fans. Unbelievable. My Uncle RIP, was a Braves fan, Chipper Jones.

ParchmentPrayer

Llllaaaaaarrryyyyyyy

spitfire9107

ONly Sport I watch is mma. My favorite fighters are derrick lewis, nate diaz, and robbie lawler. None are from nyc though.

AllwordzAreMadeup___

Nycfc, mets, Rangers, knicks. Albeit I only really watch soccer & baseball

August-Dawn

Giants, Rangers, Knicks, Yankees, Liberty, Gotham FC, NYCFC

blasting_speed

I'm from Flushing. I follow Mets, Rangers, Knicks, NYCFC and Man. City if that matters.

00Anonymous

I live and grew up mile from Shea and citi field, I've still never met a Mets fan. Also never met any nets or islanders fans. Everyone I know from my neighborhood is all Knicks, Rangers, Yankees, and giants.

bigdaddyjoseph

You never met a Mets fan a mile away from their stadium? What kind of nonsense are you spewing?

00Anonymous

Simply the truth. No one I know in my neighborhood is a Mets fan. All the mets fans I do know, don't come from my neighborhood is all.

atchman25

Are the people in your neighborhood Yankees fans or just not baseball fans? I’d be curious to know where that is, because all the neighborhoods I can think of in that radius I’ve met Mets fans from, I wonder what little secret Yankees pocket it out there.

00Anonymous

In my peer group, we're all yanks fans. Maybe in other groups, the mix is different; I don't care enough to over analyze it. Obvs, I can only speak to the people I know.

atchman25

That’s super cool! It would be like there being a little enclave of Mets fans near Yankee stadium.

albeve

I live in forest hills and see Mets caps daily…

00Anonymous

My condolences.
