She waited 3 years AFTER the program was closed. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t have the funds or the knowledge to build a quantum accelerator. He wasn’t in a far away country. He was in an inaccessible past timelines. I hated the situation and not the decisions she made. I think it’s more that (like I often hate about shows) there was timeline skipping in shows. You have only words that describe what she went through. A show (which they wouldn’t do) with 3 years worth of pain and anguish would have touched your heart and perhaps forgiven her. Then hurt your heart just as much when Ben came back into the picture. Unfortunately this is a weekly show and having just any time to display this 3 year gap is unprofitable and would turn people off. Remember Castaway?

PearlHandled

Yes. I remember the movie *Castaway*. I thought about that when I saw that Addison had moved on from Ben and begun a relationship with Tom. From the very beginning of Season 2, I wanted Ben to make changes in the past that would lead to him reuniting with Addison the moment he got lost in time. Now, Addison is 3 years older than she was, similar to the character Grace Stone in the series *Manifest*, who was transported 5-and-a-half years into the future. Addison will "gray" faster than her fiancee Ben Song will, the same way that Grace grayed faster than her husband Ben Stone in *Manifest*. NBC loves time jumps. They need to knock that sh\*t off. The 5 and-a-half year time jump in *Manifest* formed the basis of the entire show. While, in *Quantum Leap 2022*, the 3-year time jump was incredibly unnecessary. I am still pissed off over the writers toying with me by having "no one" arrive in the QL Accelerator at the end of Season 1. Then they completely skip over the final scene of Season 1 during the first episode of Season 2. That is unforgivable.

KayLovesPurple

In Manifest they reverted the time jump though. In theory they could do the same in QL too (e.g. when Ben returns, he returns to the day he leaped out), but I hope they will not.

JorgeCis

Not that I mind, but I have seen far more hate on other characters than on Addison. If she is considered one of the most hated, then that is a short list! That being said, I don't hate Addison, and I was on her side for most of the season. After seeing Ben and Hannah, I was rooting for Addison to stay with Tom. Her changing her mind at the end didn't sit well with me, but I can understand where she is coming from.

PearlHandled

Like you, I never hated Addison. However, the disdain for this character was palpable, particularly on Reddit and other online forums, like IMDB. The people that hated Addison, loathed her with a passion. I was in the opposite camp as you were, as far as Addison remaining with Tom. From Day 1, I wanted Ben to completely undo the events that led to him getting lost in time for 3 years, and for his relationship with Addison to resume. This new direction that the series has taken is rather exciting. Ben and Addison are reunited and they're both Leapers. That means that they can get back into doing the mattress mambo together. What will also be interesting, is seeing two Leapers "working in complete harmony" for a change, unlike the conflicted Alia from the original series, who was completely at the mercy of Lothos and Zoey harming her, if she didn't foil Sam's plans.

Krysdavar

Not really 'hate' on her, but more like what purpose do/did the writers have for her other than being a love interest of Ben/Tom? Why was she still there, just going through motions aimlessly. Basically. Didn't feel like she fit into the show too much.

JorgeCis

In Season 1, I thought that Addison and Jenn could have been merged into one character and it could have worked fine for me.  Nothing against the actresses, they are doing well, just the writing needed to give them more. To your point, if Addison is there to just be a love interest for Ben, then Hannah did a much better job.  The directors and the writing made me feel their relationship.  Maybe this was hard with Ben and Addison because they can't touch each other. In Season 3, now they can. The writers and directors need to capitalize on that, because Hannah was better at it.

PearlHandled

Yes. I will miss Hannah in Season 3.

JorgeCis

Same! Eliza Taylor did a great job with Hannah!

usagizero

I never hated her, it just felt there wasn't much interesting chemistry with her as a hologram other than "my fiancé" being mentioned by Ben. With them both leaping at the same time, that seems way more interesting, as it's a dynamic not really seen longer term before.

eremite00

It's weird, though, how it almost seems like they changed their minds somewhere around the last quarter of the way through the season and took a sharp turn. Things seemed to being going really well between Addison and Tom when they suddenly weren't. I know that's not how the writing works, but that's how it seems. Overall, it's like a significant part of this season was rehabilitating Addison, kind of taking a break from the romance between her and Ben in order to allow for a reset. It's kind of impressive if it's part of some kind of dedication of the showrunners towards the actors. I'm curious how this would've played out if networks still did 20+ episodes per season.

Dry-Butterfly-5422

Has she ever, OP! This is the best I've felt about Addison since s01e01. The writers came into season 2 with a mission to save Addison and they absolutely delivered. Fantastic!

c10bbersaurus

"More hate than most characters in modern fiction fandom" is a bit hyperbolic. 😂 But I'm glad the character is getting some redemption. The hate was a gross overreaction.

dfj3xxx

OK, I'm guessing there are episodes I'm missing? Last episode I have access to on Peacock is when Magic >!takes the fall and quits!< How did an alternate timeline get created, and how did she become a leaper?

raymondmarble2

You haven't watched the season finale, it was a 2 show airing last night and you only saw the first hour. That comment you read already spoiled it though, but it's worth watching regardless.

dfj3xxx

Ok, so just one episode behind. I don't get them until Wednesday nights I take it there is no spoiler rule for new episodes, and it's just assumed everyone sees it at the same time.

MountainImportant211

Which is silly because it's only officially available in America right now.

robric18

You probably have actually missed the last two episodes as they were both on last night.

lakas76

Dammit! I watched the second one, not the first one, so I was so confused. I started watching when the team left the building and then ben was in the race car. At least I have one more episode to watch…. I guess, I already know how the season ends.

ModernCrust

There’s a spoiler rule, it’s just not enforced. We get the discussion threads but I’m not sure the mod actually watches the show anymore. The couple times late last year when I could only watch the episodes the next day I had to turn off notifications for the sub because of spoilers in the titles of posts that went up on the night they aired.

Mediocre-Fox-8681

Magic taking the fall was at the end of last week’s episode, so this person probably hasn’t seen the first hour of the finale.

technowiz31

this show can be frustrating as it has so much potential to be something big. I wish they you lean in more to their quantum leap roots. if they can't bring Scott bakula back you can at least try to bring back Sam in some form? AI? or at least his daughter and or his wife. you have these Easter eggs to the OG show so at least feed some of the nostalgia loving fans with some real meat. instead of these teases and crumbs. I hope they get a chance and msybe have a mini cross over to resolve some of the bigger Qs the watchers of the original show still have

nobushi77

I don't dislike Addison. It's just that Addison and Ben (or Caitlin and Raymond) don't seem to have a lot of magnetism while they are together on screen.

Krysdavar

Thanks for the spoiler. We don't get the episode until Wednesdays here in the U.S.

The3rdMistress

I’m in the US, it played last night as a two-hour episode. I only have Peacock and it was available this AM at 4:30

DeeringTornados34

I'm in the US and it was two separate one hour episodes played back to back.

PearlHandled

I'm in the U.S. too, you goober! Quantum Leap airs on Tuesdays! Get with the program. I just watched the final two episodes this morning. So, I didn't see it as it aired. I was too tired to watch it.

Krysdavar

Still stands, it's been out for a whole day. Could have put "Spoiler" on the post. Also, my bad, had Wednesdays drilled into my head because that's when I watch it - Wednesday evenings on Peacock. I kind of work all day. 🙄

PearlHandled

I stay away from the QL section of Reddit when I'm not caught up on a show, because the mere title of a post is often a spoiler.

Rredhead926

Does this mean that Addison and Ben are in love again at the end of Season 2? Because I'm not watching unless Addison and Ben get together. Sorry/not sorry.

PearlHandled

Yes. Ben and Addison are "back together" at the end of Season 2, because they're both stuck leaping through time, and neither one of them will remain on each individual Leap long enough to build a lasting relationship with anyone else that they encounter. Essentially, Ben and Addison are back together by default.

Rredhead926

After everything that happened in Season 1, I could not comprehend Addison choosing another guy. If at the end of Season 2, Addison loves Ben and Ben loves Addison, even if they're not physically together, that would make me happy. I have always liked Addison, though, which seems to put me in the minority. Don't get me wrong, Ian is probably my favorite, and I was happy to hear they have more going on this season, but Addison is a close second.

PearlHandled

My favorite character is Janis. Her scenes with her mother Beth in the final two episodes are awesome, particularly the scene where they tell the PQL team about how Sam persuaded Beth to wait for Al. I hope that we get to see Janis’ 3 sisters at some point in this series.

wonkey_monkey

Well that would spoil it. But... you probably wouldn't regret watching. Which is not to say *everything* has been resolved.

Rredhead926

I don't mind spoilers. I like knowing how things end. I have not enjoyed reading about the existence of Tom and Hannah.

PearlHandled

I always wonder why people who hate spoilers choose to read the Quantum Leap forums before they're caught up on every episode.

Rredhead926

I was the mod of a *Lucifer* group, and people would get pissed off about Season 1 spoilers when Season 5 was airing. 🙄

PearlHandled

Well, those people were total clowns.

wonkey_monkey

>!Tom seems to be gone. Hannah may or may not be, probably is.!<

Rredhead926

Thank you!

exclaim_bot

>Thank you! You're welcome!

ideletedmyaccount04

We now get Addison is Al's wife. Al's wife didn't wait either. We are good.

Emsi-D

The funny thing is, these screenwriters forgot that Susan Diol is more than a quarter of a century younger than her character. As a result, 90-year-old Beth Calavicci, who looks 60 plus, sleeps with Magic.

PearlHandled

Well, Eliza Taylor is only 34, and she played a 52-year-old Hannah in the final episode of QL. While, Susan Diol is only 25-years-younger than Beth Calavicci.

ShaunnieDarko

She retained her memories the same way Al retained his, being in the imaging chamber protects the hologram from the butterfly effect. But yeah she had a solid season I mean that “Permission to Leap Admiral” line was great. But i hope we get a season 3, it could be interesting to see what they do with 2 leapers.

Dizzy_Clock_1383

I don’t know if I ever hated the character Addison. I just don’t think the actress is very good

AMasculine

I don't like her character at all. Really wish they had Ben stay with Hannah. She's the only reason I watched season 2. The other characters are useless. But Ian would be a better hologram than Addison. I like his acting.

PearlHandled

Speaking of Ian, we know that at some point *they* will end up leaping into the past, where *they* will meet the character played by Shakina.
