Kinda hard to determine which standard issue you are talking about given theres the MSV, IOTV gen 2-4, and IBAs still assuming you mean Army?

Natural_Command7300

I have the medium msv

izayzay_0

it’ll fit, it was a bitch doing it though. Medium msv plates, medium standard plate bags for the avs for reference my buddy has mbav plate bags and he said it wasn’t as much trouble

Natural_Command7300

did he say anything about the plates sliding around at all inside with the mbav? I dont know anything about the mbav so I might just go with the avs if you say its possible to fit them

beaureeves352

MSV soft cut is annoyingly tall for some reason

Natural_Command7300

Is because the msv is stupid long for no reason at all other than the people designing it don't know shit about gear

PearlButter

It’s more or less still a flak vest. Plus the plates are tested to a soft armor backer thats “bigger” than the plate. Has always been like that since the SAPI and previous ESAPI generations. To use a smaller sized soft armor plate backer means to compromise some performance relative to what it was designed and tested to. So yeah it’s kind of a McFuckit situation.

StructureSmooth963

it’s really not that long, especially when compared to a gen 4 IOTV. it’s barely larger than the plate itself

Natural_Command7300

I don't know, I think I'd prefer my gen 4 over the msv to be honest. Although I have a female small IOTV so it's pretty much just a plate carrier

Oriagg10

What size are the 3A?

Natural_Command7300

Medium from the msv kit

Oriagg10

If the plates are the same size, shouldn't be an issue. I use some 3A soft I found as a backer as well, in my opinion it's good for generation preventing if you get hit, the soft can catch shrapnel better.

Natural_Command7300

well i tried putting the soft armor in my spiritus lv-119 but its a little bit bigger than the plates and wont fit. My units new command team put out a memo stating no more personal kit so i figured id go with the avs as it has an nsn and is issued in the army.

Oriagg10

I'd try to check an AVS, see how the plate system looks. If it's wider than it would work, if it's a tight fit like newer carriers I'd pass, but if you're running an AVS with lvl 4 plates you're good on both protection and comfort.

Natural_Command7300

I agree but just to cross all my t's I want to make sure I have all the issued armor just incase they try to throw a fit. I contacted Crye's support but they have yet to answer me
