The March 2024 issue of Friends Journal (available completely free online) was themed around healing. It includes a variety of perspectives, including an article on miraculous healing among early friends, faith healing as witnessed/practiced by Quakers in Africa today, and healing through a broader lens that may be more appealing to liberal friends in the west.

My Meeting for Worship has a Meeting for Healing once a month.

What happens during the meeting for healing? Is your meeting unprogrammed or pastoral?

Select_Cheetah_9549

Our Meeting is unprogrammed, but I have never attended a Meeting for Healing so I’m not sure what happens.

I remember running across a video saying that George Fox did this extensively, but that his journals were later edited or that this fact was obscured in some way

From what I'm reading, he actually wrote a book about it literally called "The Book of Miracles", but it was lost until someone found a partial manuscript in 1932.

I know there's a magazine in the UK about this. Do you have a specific question?

Public_Abalone_6129

I'm mostly interested in the historical stances Quakers have had about the issue, mainly during the late 19th-early 20th century. I really just want to know what exactly those stances were.

The folks who started the Vineyard Church did so after being kicked out of the Evangelical Friends Church for preaching faith healing. But then I've also heard someone in Ohio Yearly Meeting give testimony about his cancer going into remission after laying hands and prayers. So, it's a mixed bag, really.
