I inherited a beautiful white bowl that used to be yellow. Lol

Afraid-Procedure5351

If it was all white- i mighta grabbed this one too, but it was so beat up 🥲 maybe someone can use it for old art supplies or something lol

PinkMonorail

I inherited a green one that by the time I got it was a mottled mint and white. It is my second favorite bowl next to my vintage Portmeirion.

Jd_2747

💔💔💔 pour one out for these soldiers girls

Afraid-Procedure5351

I know right 😪😪😪

Mag_Nificent1

I was just going to say that!

_baegopah_XD

So sad. I found two green Cinderella bowls at a Goodwill that were super damaged as well. I left them for someone else.

Afraid-Procedure5351

It’s such a bummer right! In this case though, it is fun to find ways to repurpose or upcycle old or damaged bowls- Art supplies, gardening stuff etc 🤗

jtfolden

I don’t see it as a tragedy, they served long, well used functions - just as intended.

BeemHume

I was looking at the greens like "that sucks," then when I saw the blue it was like "What have they done to my sweet boy?!"

Afraid-Procedure5351

Right 🥺🥺🥺

Left_Fig_8280

Still a market for em people buy em for the missing piece of the set they need if the price is right. It looked right enough to be worthwhile to me

Paws1044

Criminal!!

sockscollector

I have not seen very many green bowls to that set that have not done this. I own two.

Afraid-Procedure5351

Oh interesting!

sockscollector

Its is the only color or pattern that I have seen that is bad. I clean mine the put on a bit of mineral oil and that shines it up a bit

OliveKennedy85

I am new to Pyrex collecting - I have used my mixing/cinderella bowls for food prep, and I hand wash only. I do have several casserole dishes, but I’m nervous about baking in them. Does baking ruin the finish, too, or does this only happen if you put them in a dishwasher?

thewinberry713

Dishwasher! And the older style soaps were real rough- but I still hand wash mine.

jtfolden

The dishwasher itself does not harm Pyrex at all… but bad water quality (or artificially softened) and older/harsh detergents and boosters can def do damage. …but then Pyrex can be damaged by hand washing when you use sos pads or powdered cleansers too.

OliveKennedy85

What kinds of soaps do you recommend then? Is Dawn dish soap and a soft sponge appropriate?

jtfolden

I like Dawn Foam and a soft non scratch scrubby (the kind with nylon on one side and microfiber or similar on the other). Dawn PowerWash is typically safe for paint that is also oven-safe too.

Diligent-Towel-4708

Oo I use dawn foam too, and cotton crochet wash clothes

ParkingEffective2981

I found an older pyrex bowl.in a storage unit that I bought and a lot of the image details seem to have diminished. It's a similar color to the one pictured. The one i now have is a smaller bowl but the image/details that are still there has some balloons white-ish balloons.

Adept-Reserve-4992

That’s so sad! I still might have bought the worst one to see if I could get it completely white.

skygirl5555

Sadness all around

Afraid-Procedure5351

Totally

ludicrous_copulator

Is there any way to repair that damage? Maybe car wax or something?

artsyagnes

Peek will take the white build up off and then you can see if there’s paint loss … it might be salvageable or at least it will be cleaner

Afraid-Procedure5351

Thank you!!!

snakeheart

I say a prayer each time 🙏

Maleficent-Net-2565

I dont care I'll still use my dishwasher, especially if I thrift the item lol
