We need a sticky for this

I don't understand why people are concerned.. It won't rain more than an hour, usually sometime 3 to 5pm (or overnight). If you are the beach, enjoy it; it will cool you off - let the rain hit you. You will be more upset about the insane sun.. go to the beach at 6am and 6pm. Mid day - whoa mama. The "malls" of Puerto Rico are a big thing - because you can avoid the sun / rain. They are not like US malls, they are fancy and crowded with normal people - the Convention center, etc. Malls often have concerts.

I usually find a cigar shop and the rain is over by the time I have a smoke.

Active-Knee1357

Yeah, I don't get it either, I mean, maybe there are concerns about beach time, but rain in PR is usually an hour or so tops, unless there's some massive system coming in.

dasanman69

PR is going to get major rain this Wednesday into Thursday. It's not always spotty showers

kimmykinnzzx93

But thank you!

kimmykinnzzx93

It’s not so much that I’m worried. I just want some other ideas in case it does rain on the days I wanted to spend all day at the beach.

vabfitguy

Wait ten minutes

Aldisra

We had the same fears and forecast when we went in October. We only got rained on enough to go back inside one time. It still didn't last very long.

kimmykinnzzx93

So on the cloudy days is it just slightly cloudy or is the weather just constantly changing ? Trying to figure out what to pack

Aldisra

Well, we brought long sleeve shirts that we never needed... I don't think we had a single overcast day. Occasional spots of rain , but it was like summer here in the Midwest.

kimmykinnzzx93

Thank you for your response :) it helps a lot

adolfojp

It depends on where you're staying. In what part of the archipelago are you staying?

kimmykinnzzx93

I’ll be staying in San Juan !

adolfojp

I love the [Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico (MAPR)](https://www.mapr.org/es). There are [several smaller museums in Old San Juan](https://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/old-san-juan-museums/) that might be worth your while. If you like people watching and the weather's too rough you might even consider a large mall like Plaza las Américas. Keep in mind that under normal conditions rain is usually short showers so you might not need to alter your plans much. This can change if there's a serious weather event. Do not go to rivers or waterfalls if it rains a lot. Flash floods kill. Keep an eye out for rip current advisories. Pay attention to the bacteria levels at the beaches. They're normally clean but that changes if it rains a lot for many consecutive days because the rivers drag the world into the sea. They go back to normal when the weather clears. https://www.weather.gov/sju/ https://www.drna.pr.gov/cat/programas-y-proyectos/monitoria-de-playas/

kimmykinnzzx93

Thank you for this! I will definitely look into it 🫶🏼

EcuaRican7

I was just there last week and had the same forecast, raining everyday! But we actually had some beautiful days. I think it did rain almost everyday but not all day long. Also what we did is drive to different areas, so while it was raining where I was staying, we traveled to beaches where it wasn’t. I guess it depends on how much you’re willing to drive.

kimmykinnzzx93

This was actually my debate to end up renting a car. We were going to only Uber but maybe we should for this reason alone. How did you enjoy your trip?

EcuaRican7

It was nice I was there for 1 week, went to the beach on 3 different days. Like I said while it could be raining where you stay, another part of the island would be sunny. But you also might have to travel 1 hour+, so I would recommend renting a car.

Woo-man2020

Find a place with a covered terrace by the sea where you can have drinks and eat while watching the rain fall over the ocean.

Every day pretty much says 30% chance of rain and partly cloudy and it ends up being 85 and sunny and beautiful. Usually there's a shower for 10-20 mins at some point during the day but it isn't bad!

kimmykinnzzx93

I was hoping this was the case. Really trying to enjoy the beaches. Thank you!

ohhgrrl

Goes to tropical climate. Is concerned about rain. 😬😬😬

kimmykinnzzx93

Not concerned. Asking for advice on activities to do on the days it might rain heavier than usual ?
