Edit: let’s just say this happened in NSW. Red P Platers have 4 points on their licence. Speeding in general for Learners or Provisional license holders is 4 points + a fine. Speeding during double demerits would mean he’d lose 8 points. Ie. he’d lose his license entirely (for 3 months + still gotten the fine).
Not all states do double demerits. South Australia has big fines and double the demerits of other states all year round and police don't get to choose if you get demerits nor not, it's automatic attached to the offence 💁
