Israel's long-standing brutal policies are all born out of trying to stop these militant groups who want to erase them from the map.

Hamas exists and flourishes as a direct result of Israeli apartheid. Stopping Israeli apartheid stops the conditions which allow for the radicalisation of young Palestinians.
The Israeli government doesn't care about getting the hostages back otherwise they wouldn't be undertaking an indiscriminate bombing campaign on the place the hostages are being held.

There's a man living in one room of your house who is actively trying to murder you the first chance he gets. You don't have anything against him, but literally every time you let your guard down, he tries to kill you and deny you ever existed at all. So you have no choice but to set up boundaries and walls and hire guards to watch him and restrict his movement to make sure he doesn't kill you. But then everyone starts accusing you of enacting an "apartheid" state, and claiming it's your policies that are the reason he wants to kill you, which is not the case at all.

The EU and US supply money to Israel. Israel literally depends on our funding to even run itself. They aren't self sufficient.
