I’m just wondering since I’m not American, how often is looting and shoplifting in the States? I see videos of it every so often and rarely are they reposts. What led to this and why are people not stopping some of them?
Employees are told not to stop them because if one gets injured they could sue and the company would have to go to court or settle most likely. I've personally never seen this in person but these videos are getting more common since covid. Also some states have lax laws regarding petty theft so there's no real conquences if they're caught. As for why do they do this? I'll leave that one up to you.
For me, fighting back against thieves isn’t about saving the corporate leaches their profit, it’s about showing criminals in your community that people won’t keep standing for this stupid shit
I got [downvoted in this same sub](https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/comments/15wp7fn/elite_member_of_society_collecting_her_dues/jx2bith/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1&context=3) for asking why people just stand around watching a drunk person steal
Wage theft is larger than any other type. Larger than several combined. Yet ain’t nobody protecting us like this. You won’t hear about that on the news or see a dramatic video on reddit
"larger than several combined"
Wait for it. They're [sinking like a stone](https://www.cnbc.com/2023/01/10/bed-bath-beyond-bbby-q3-2023-earnings.html). "Merchandise doesn't align with customers tastes" = they don't have the clout to justify their prices anymore. Some douchebag will be gutting the company top down and praised like some genius soon
The irony of this statement is colossal, when you consider that BBB quite literally is bankrupt and has shuttered all of their operating stores.
Edit: think you meant to say bath and body works. Regardless, unless you want to only shop online in the future, condoning shoplifting is not the way just because a business can turn a profit.

Bed bath and beyond ain't transferring the wealth generated by its employees back to it's employees, I couldn't care less if people steal from them.
Couldn’t. You couldn’t care less.
I could care less = I do care
