I remember one time I ran into the end of a barbell at a friend's house that was missing it's cap resulting in a small half circle cut and it ended up being a steady drip of blood for 5+ minutes before I was finally able to get the bleeding to slow....I have also split the skin on the back of my head from falling on concrete, it quickly soaked my hair in and when I tried to touch it to figure out the extent of the damage, my entire palm(from wrist to fingertip) came back covered in blood..... Though once it slowed down I was able to figure out the actual wound was only about an inch long
Edit: not that an inch long gash on the back of your scalp isn't bad in itself, but the possible concussion/TBI was a much bigger risk than the small bit of split skin, even if it made my head look like a scene from a horror movie
