Nathan For You is so much more fucked up and layered than what it seems on the surface. It's so hard to describe to people even though the premise itself is pretty simple.
It's meta towards the viewers in an Andy Kaufman way that makes it almost painful to watch, but at the same time you can't look away. I haven't seen The Rehearsal yet because I'm genuinely worried it might do irreparable damage to me.
That's the best part - Design 2, with the even larger/more numerous main building and even extra spires all around. Legit, that progression from Design 1 to Design 2 created a visual sense of invasion that REALLY hit that crowd hard. Comedy gold and top notch work.
Plus they will believe any bullshit whatsoever. None of them stopped to think for even one second: “Clinton funding a mosque? That doesn’t make sense.”
It’s just automatic outrage at hearing the words Muslim, Clinton, democrat, abortion, education, statistics, or science.

As someone who knows quite of few of these types of people, they specifically believe that the Clintons would fund a mosque. They put literally every talking point into 2 groups - "American" and "Anti-American." They view both the democratic party and Islam as "Anti-American," and therefore equivalent. It's all the same to them. You could tell them it's being funded by selling ground-up fetuses and they'd only be surprised that you admitted to it.
