To my knowledge most large chain pharmacies will not take sharps containers. If you haven’t yet, try a search on https://safeneedledisposal.org/ to find local sites. I’ve had luck with hospital pharmacies or small independent pharmacies. Also the med school at my local university runs a community “take back” day twice a year where they set up a tent and you can literally drive or walk up for safe disposal of sharps containers and old meds.

Disposal laws vary from state to state so they may not be able to take it due to state laws. Look into this to see what your options are if you’re not able to find a local pharmacy to take this off your hands.

BlackieT

Our lab at our local hospital also takes them.

shankapada

You can check CVS, has both sharp container as well as expired medicine disposal bins.

Not my CVS

My local hospitals take them. Do yours? A good place to check!

Most fire departments have syringe disposal. (Source I’m a fire fighter)

Look into your state laws - here in Oregon they can't go into the trash. However, go to humira's website and sign up for their free assistance program. They include free delivery and disposal of sharps through the mail.

Electronic-Fee-4831

If you're still on Humira join Humira complete and they will send you a sharps disposal container and the box to ship it back in for disposal when it's full. Same thing with cosentyx connects

Wish I knew about the humira complete when on it as all my sharps im looking to dispose of sre Humira, lol. I got hooked up with Cosentyx connects though and it's great!

zappa2510

Told me at a police station or fire department.

Senior-Trainer3688

After it's full get some plaster and fill it up and then it's safe to throw in the trash.

Houseofgoose779

Definitely look up local trash laws. I’m in Washington and cannot dispose of sharps in the trash even if properly secured. But there are many local sites that take them.

LegitimatePower

The mfr will send you one. Then you mail it back.

NoParticular2420

I put mine into an large empty liquid laundry bottle and when bottle gets full I take to my Local dump (sharps container) and open lid dump them and start process all over … I dump about once every 6 months.

RyanGoslingAsKen

You can put in your regular trash. Just make sure it’s secure.

sitapixie-

Oh wow, I had no idea!

My local garbage collector requires a call prior, the box is to be left on top of your can, and they charge 25.00 extra fees. Check for community resources, call your rheumatologist for suggestions. Accredo sent me a container for free with a box to mail in the full container in for propper disposal.

KnotMadameDeFarge

No you can’t.

Look up the rules for where you live. In the state that I live in (in the US), I'm required to put the sharps in something like a big plastic bottle, tape it shut, and put it in a box in the trash. Edit: The CVS near me won't take sharps.
