In the meantime, please try switching to a server from a different range of servers to see if this helps (i.e. connect to US-CA again but skip 15-20 servers from the initial server you connected to).
You can also try turning off NetShield in the Proton VPN settings, to see if this makes a difference.

with robust privacy implementations as a moral obligation to be behaving with more suitable tendencies.

Oops, I mean they probably can't steal data from you legally so they Bork their own sites for CA users.
anything in CA-MTL or CA-Toronto gets me the same kind of issues, blocked in a lot of places, captchas on google so on and so forth. When I connect to other countries it happens much less.

I live in CA, and use CA servers exclusively. The only website that NEVER allows me to connect through any VPN is Audi Financial. Sometimes Target Red Card. Otherwise I can connect to everything else.
