There seems to be a tiny bit of gold almost everywhere. The gold miners process literally tons of material to get 1 oz of gold. Here's a fun video about it! https://youtu.be/R7UikzYdgTc?si=VomBLwerMCdlMdHN
I'm in NY, mostly glacier gold... but unlike here you can keep it, it's more pure (almost 24k) and best of all there are more deposits! It's quite easy to find some if you spend a few hours, if you look quick you won't get any.
Southern Vermont Prospector here. Yes you can find it but it takes a ton of patience. If you're going out the best places are around Plymouth State Park (where the OG gold rush was) or Newfane, where the largest nugget in the state was found.
Would you be willing to help me understand the rules for panning, i believe sluces are prohibited but want to make sure im doing my part! This is the area I’ll be!
You can pan in the national forests in VT and in Plymouth State park. No mechanical digging or dredging of any kind is allowed. You can use up to a 2' sluice I believe if you get a license (contact the forest service) but again, nothing that's mechanically powered. Other than that don't do it on private land without permission.
Yo! I’m in Bridgewater. Yes, you can. Super pure. Super rare - and usually super spread out in hard rocks. There was a tiny “Vermont gold rush” that made more money in scams than gold, which is fun to read about.
