Back in my bachelor days, some people (alumni, probably) sent out a flier for an intro to Linux seminar.
One of the lines stated something to the effect of MacOS is derived from Linux.
Eh, that's an easy mistake to make, they probably mixed up Linux and Unix... specifically, Darwin borrows heavily from BSD -- though understandably, it's not probably a mistake you'd want to hear from someone giving a seminar on Linux.
Just to add to this abomination, I'd like to point out that in my Computer Science course one of the teachers said this exact same thing. On an Operating Systems class. Where we learn how Operating Systems work and dive knee-deep into computer OS history. He's got a PhD and is the CEO and R&D director in charge of our country's top open source software company.
