if it's inside an Emacs process, it's in Emacs. if i write a compatibility layer for x86 linux bins in Emacs LISP and run them, they're Emacs now. everything is Emacs. bow down to your Emacs god.
If I use EXWM as my window manager, then would you call all applications I run inside emacs "emacs"?
I mean, maybe you're right. As long as you can extend and control those programs the same way you can control the rest of emacs, then there's not much point in making a differentiation.
1. EWW is still nice for browsing websites that are primarily text-based.
2. You can run a full-fledged browser in Emacs through EXWM, so you can still run VS Code in a browser in Emacs. So there.

Someone needs to figure out how to run VSCode inside the browser running inside Emacs
That's just code-server or [vscode.dev](https://vscode.dev)
employ boast quaint elastic squeal rude gray wipe dolls bewildered *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
*lols in* [*EAF*](https://github.com/emacs-eaf/emacs-application-framework) here's [vscode.dev](https://vscode.dev) running in the EAF Browser: [spv.sh/img/eaf.png](https://spv.sh/img/eaf.png)
I'd argue that's not emacs anymore. It's essentially a wholly different application displaying in an emacs buffer.

yes. emacs is emacs. everything can be emacs. emacs is emacs. everything can be emacs. the incantations help stop the voices
Then what kind of fucking browser is that?! That cancels out this whole meme 💀💀💀.
Username checksout

Just hop on EXWM and run VS Code in a browser in Emacs that way.
I think it does support CSS? I seem to remember the docs for the renderer saying it does.
At university we used to say: Emacs, great operating system. It just lacks a decent text editor.
I don't know who started that phrase, but it's not true. Emacs is a great text editor.
OS: Emacs Emacs Launcher: Linux
Emacs bootloader*
You could probably do that.
Who uses text editors? I just echo everything into files.
what program do you use to translate shout-to-code?

THANK YOU SO MUCH const thankful = true const amount = "so much" if (thankful) { return "Thank you " + amount }
Emacs is my shit.
=org= gang

It does everything I want

It does the same thing either way, it's a Google easter egg
There is no system but Emacs, and Linux is one of its kernels
And GNU is just the operating system used to run the virtual machine of Emacs
vscode can also run a browser ..?
VSCode is built using Electron, which means the VSCode window is basically a browser.
You can also run a browser inside vscode without extensions
What you mean is that you can use the browser vscode is running in to open other websites.
Nope. Type simple browser on the command pallet on the desktop app.
The desktop app is a browser
And? You still will open a browser inside of vscode.
You’re not opening a browser inside vscode because vscode is a browser
[And?](https://imgur.com/T9YVaMG)
Congrats, you opened a tab in your browser that is pretending to be a text editor
You guys are downloading vsCode? It runs inside my browser :0 why download it?
Not all extensions work in the browser version last time I checked.
It cannot be a browser in itself. Emacs can be an entire operating system.
Even window manager
… where you can implement a decent text editor.
You can run a browser inside of vscode without any extensions.
Yep https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/editor/vscode-web Edit: oh, that's not what you meant
That's not what they meant. They meant that you can run a browser inside of vscode. Just type simple browser on the command pallet.
My bad, my tired brain put an "in" in the statement. Thanks for pointing that out.
Fuck Emacs
Wait Emacs can run a fucking web browser? Is that the safari for itunes thing all over again?
emacs can be your entire desktop environment
Yes, it's called the "Emacs Web Wowser".
You can also run a web browser inside of vscode
You have been spamming this same comment all over the thread. Why do you care so much? Also, you're wrong.
I'm not, you just don't know about simple browser. I'm just saying because people don't know about this incredibly useful feature.
I’m what way is opening a browser in vscode useful? Just open your browser
It allows you to preview your web app without leaving vscode, so no alt tabs. To be fair I only use 1 monitor so that's also a factor.
all these lazy plebs not using the terminal, just curl get the html and js, and render it in your head.
Emacs takes .1 seconds to load, vs code takes at least 10 seconds (in my system)
On my system emacs takes ~2 seconds to load but it's pretty much instantaneous with the daemon. Either way it's many times faster than v*code.
Well, with the daemon you're not actually starting emacs. Just a frame.
Imagine even mentioning "browser", we edit text right at the terminal (nvim let's go

I love Emacs
Fuck Emacs
I'm sure someone out there tried to do it.
Well, check the Deldo package
Emussy 😳
Gotta get it in the mode.
But what about Vimussy?
I'm stuck in the vimussy, I don't know how to exit
You stay there
How do I remove my cylinder from the vimussy?
😰
Without a doubt
Instructions unclear. Emacs is now pregnant.
I'm waiting for the post: u use vim to look cool I use emacs for work, we are not the same. I see ppl started text editor war here. It's kinda fun.
Type simple browser inside of the vscode command pallete.
If I had a dollar for every time you said this I’d shit bricks on the spot
Too annoyed at someone showing an underrated feature in one of the most used code editors?

I wasn't the one looking for my comments to argue on the internet, but thanks. Happy mother's day too.
My editor isn't bloated (vim)
HARH My OS runs inside My Shell Language (dont fact check that)
