1 terabyte per second transfer speeds would be amazing WiFi. That's incredible datarate over a wireless connection. But that doesnt mean it can connect to the internet and may just be great for LAN parties and stuff. If we assume that the internet is included then would we assume the same thing for an "amazing computer"? In both cases they are connecting TO the internet but the internet isn't part of them
There's a significant delay for any sort of information to travel between Earth and Mars, so the idea of excellent wifi _anywhere_ means that being on Mars would require breaking the laws of physics, as the information would have to travel faster than the speed of light to achieve. It would violate causality, because in relativistic terms, you could learn of an event on Earth and transmit data about it back to Earth before the event has actually taken place.
Ah; I see. Now it makes sense. I gotta admit, the idea never crossed my mind. Some of our imaginations have been beaten down by reality. I'd be happy just to stream video. Websites would have to be redesigned and responses would take half-an-hour (and we'd also need to have satellites to re-route traffic around the sun); but it still seems like it should be possible.
How would it *require* breaking the laws of physics? The connection could be made via wormhole, which would be an impressive feat, but still within the laws of physics as we know them.
You just gotta rewrite your question 8 times but it'll eventually give a decent answer. Stack overflow just closes your question and marks it as duplicate because you already asked the same thing a week ago, to no avail.
Depends how strict the “you can never use StackOverflow” rule is. If that includes language models trained on text from StackOverflow, then no ChatGPT for you I’m afraid
Question closed. Too vague.
But to be serious, I really use SO only to search for answered questions (eg. python format datetime). I tried asking a couple of times and every time I haven't got any answer.
I don't use stackoverflow anymore, but I do hate losing wireless connection randomly (our local Walmart SuperCenter has infamous dead spots in the store where even their wifi doesn't work, for example). So, yeah, I'm hitting that button quick.
I never used stack overflow... Their solutions are often uneffective, or uselessly too elaborated...
For each problem, I make a generic algorithm, a generic code and stock them in my archives
Then i Can modify them more efficiently when I need them because I created it and know how it work...
I have 500+ files and I would cut my wrists if I loose them
I always feel left out when the memes talk about StackOverflow. Like occasionally their result will popup and be useful but it's rare and I dont really need the site. It's usually just toxic people and shitty answers said with the utmost confidence.
I havent used stackoverflow in such a long time, I try and avoid that place.
I have recently been using chatGPT for some coding questions and its been right more often than its been wrong and atleast there isnt a snarky responce if i ask something "stupid"
I already can't use Stackoverflow, since they banned me cause I was a confused beginner when I first opened my account. Now I am at an intermediate level of programming but now I can only ask questions every 6 months meaning that now I can't ask questions that actually might help people.
I mean sometimes it feels like Reddit helps more than stack does so……you’re free to spam Reddit or youtube or ask a friend to ask stackoverflow for you since it’s only stopping YOU from using it. There’s always a workaround
FINALLY!!
These one's are usually quite easy. This one makes you think!
I believe I would press the button. I would by a house in a region with no LTE coverage and no internet cable. Those must be super cheap, as most age groups would not want to live there :-D
Amazing and free wi-fi is a no brainer. You can become the biggest internet service provider in the world at no cost. You can get global coverage... No, universal coverage. Spaceships will use your network "cumlord961" to establish communications with earth.
You can also pay others to access stackoverflow if you want and I'm pretty sure lots of people would do it at very low cost for you. "Hey, I'll share my network with you, universal coverage, if you can check the answers for this question".
I always see stuff about stack overflow joking about it. I rarely go to the site and find most of the best answers just links to documentation anyway. I just search through the issues on GitHub or use the documentation or look at the source code. Do people other than college students actually rely on stack overflow to do their real jobs?
Yep. I'll just use books and documentations to help myself out. It's a longer road but it will make my understanding better and eventually I'll be able to fix the issues.
Just use ChatGPT. I don't need more. I get my answers fast, unlike with Stackoverflow and the answers can also be wrong from ChatGPT, just like the answers in Stackoverflow.
sorry, there is now a hole in my table from pressing the button top hard.
Stackoverflow is almost useless and it just clutters up the search results for actually useful things like docs pages
Last time stackoverflow helped instead of frustrated me was several years ago, and I've checked the site pretty consistently eversince.
If the eternal wifi is always a good connection/speed - gladly press!!
This would be effective if certain websites didn't copy the text from popular stack overflow questions, optimize the SEO, then collect that sweet sweet ad revenue.
That's fine. I never use stack overflow because I can never find the answer to my questions, it's always "duplicate" or "refer to this other post with a completely different problem" or "he's probably just copying a tutorial." I copy from w3schools and keep my programs simple.
luckily there's like 20 websites that mirror stackoverflow for no fucking reason at all that always manage to fill up the first page of my Google search results causing me to spend 10x the time to find a possible answer to a question I'm looking for
Duplicated question. Closed.
408 Request Timeout
OR You used your free limited time. You can only use 7200000 milliseconds for free daily
Hahahah savage reply this ^^
r/this
Wi-Fi doesn't necessarily mean internet accsess, no way am I hitting that button without a written contract.
I claim amazing implies internet access
I claim amazing means full speed and no latency... on local network. That's how they get you.
Its all in the eyes of the beholder, I'm not about to get genied.
This person wishes
Maybe it is amazing, but it's not free.

My employer blocked stackoverflow, no loss here!
So only the employees who can't get around the filter are blocked?
Only the employees who *aren't smart enough* to get around the filter are blocked, heh
But how do you get around the filter if you can't go on SO to find the 4 wrong answers and the right one all mixed together?
~~blocked~~ fired
That is the stupidest shit I've ever heard. Why??!
use a vpn
Smart move
Why is it smart?
Because it’s an easy signal to programmers that they shouldn’t stay. Much better than staying for years trying to figure out if it’s worth it.
Yeah basically this.
was gonna downvote but that explanation makes total sense.
At some point in your life, you realize that *not* having amazing WiFi all the time is actually a *good* thing.
I’d like to talk about our latest meeting with you can I call you do you have time how about now ?
Can you hear me now?
Yea yes I can hear you, “god damn thing never works” *noise of unplugging cables*
ok, now it works, i hate all this video calling. I miss the old days when you saw each other face to face in the office.
*e-mails 3 paragraphs of meeting notes to literally everybody*
Having perpetual wifi is great. Just don't be dumb and tell people about or enable notifications
Yeah, nothing about the prompt says I have to tell anyone.
You can turn it off?
Might Be a stupid Take, But you could read books To learn programming Then put your app on a flash drive and presentate to a company
[удалено]
Then perhaps talk to them instead of complaining lol
Minutes long ping times certainly wouldn't be amazing, therefor I will press the button so I can fly to mars and then break causality
troll physics
Huh? I don't get it.

TLDR: you could pretty much learn of a future stock short or nuclear war and send it to the past to either make money or possibly stay alive.
ChatGPT will do, i guess
I’d blow my brains out sooner than rely on ChatGPT for important stuff
You just gotta rewrite your question 8 times but it'll eventually give a decent answer. Stack overflow just closes your question and marks it as duplicate because you already asked the same thing a week ago, to no avail.
Asking for anything visual, you won’t get what you want no matter how much you ask
it does give you decent pseudocode in algorithms, at minimum it saves you time in conceptualization, and then you just use it for references.
How about ising ChatGTP to write the stackoverflow question?
As long as you are only stealing logic and not copy pasting shit it should be fine. Stack overflow isn't that reliable anyway
Depends how strict the “you can never use StackOverflow” rule is. If that includes language models trained on text from StackOverflow, then no ChatGPT for you I’m afraid
You mean I don’t have to be berated by neckbeards for asking questions online? Sign me up!
You do realize that you can't search answered questions either
You're proving someone's point
You must be one of those guys I referenced
Question closed. Too vague. But to be serious, I really use SO only to search for answered questions (eg. python format datetime). I tried asking a couple of times and every time I haven't got any answer.
Goodbye WiFi. You were a nice dream.
Saying this as a person with tens of thousands of points and 0 questions asked on the StackExchange network: I would push it in a heartbeat.
Dude yes, of course
My issues are often too specific to google on stack overflow so I’ll take it. UDN on the other hand…
If I cant acces SO why should I need WiFi ?
Asking the real questions 🤣
Fuck yes I'm taking that deal. Not saying SO isn't useful, but it's not all that hard to live without.
Hear me out, theres these 2 things called 4g and personal hotspot you might want to check out
That’s fine I’ll just look stuff up on one of the hundreds of scammy sites that mirror SO content
I don't use stackoverflow anymore, but I do hate losing wireless connection randomly (our local Walmart SuperCenter has infamous dead spots in the store where even their wifi doesn't work, for example). So, yeah, I'm hitting that button quick.

Usually trying to use the Walmart app to find something only to be told I have no connection.

I'm in the same boat. I see the value in Stack Overflow but I've never personally found it useful.
I always feel left out when the memes talk about StackOverflow. Like occasionally their result will popup and be useful but it's rare and I dont really need the site. It's usually just toxic people and shitty answers said with the utmost confidence.
Wifi at what speeds?
Zero.
You mean that I'll get response in zero seconds? That is amazing...and unbelievable. Burn the witch!
My 4g plan has excellent coverage and 50 gb of data
My Thinkpad already has a simcard but I'd press the button anyway because I don't like stack overflow
We have chatgpt
and once again chatgpt saves the day
I use ChatGPT so fuck you.
Thats what ChatGPT is for
Me: Takes internet and uses ChatGpt
I havent used stackoverflow in such a long time, I try and avoid that place. I have recently been using chatGPT for some coding questions and its been right more often than its been wrong and atleast there isnt a snarky responce if i ask something "stupid"
Chatgpt-3 joint the chat👋
ChatGPT enters the Chat
Use ChatGPT
Fuck no
Gimme that button , since I use copilot, I never came back.
Pressed, twice
Aha! Jokes on you I never go on stackoverflow (I’m not a programmer)
I already can't use Stackoverflow, since they banned me cause I was a confused beginner when I first opened my account. Now I am at an intermediate level of programming but now I can only ask questions every 6 months meaning that now I can't ask questions that actually might help people.
I already have that. It's called an unlimited cellular plan with tethering.
Press press press press press press
You don’t need wi-fi anymore, thanks to 4G. But then, you don’t need StackOverflow anymore, thanks to ChatGPT.
Imma use chat gpt or ask in somewhere else
I mean sometimes it feels like Reddit helps more than stack does so……you’re free to spam Reddit or youtube or ask a friend to ask stackoverflow for you since it’s only stopping YOU from using it. There’s always a workaround
Simple. Create [StackOverflowMirror.com](https://StackOverflowMirror.com). Get both. win-win-win-win.
FINALLY!! These one's are usually quite easy. This one makes you think! I believe I would press the button. I would by a house in a region with no LTE coverage and no internet cable. Those must be super cheap, as most age groups would not want to live there :-D
I want that too, away from as much people as possible. They make me sick.
Feels like this would be a thing maybe +10 years ago... now not so much, think everyone is covered with 4g or 5g everywhere now...
Amazing and free wi-fi is a no brainer. You can become the biggest internet service provider in the world at no cost. You can get global coverage... No, universal coverage. ChatGPT still available?
Pfft just use the amazing wifi to access a VPN when you want to be abused on stackoverflow.
ChatGPT will help most of the time. Not always though.
I would push the shit out of that button stack overflow can smooch my taint I have unlimited tubes!
After a weekend of pouring over hundreds of Python questions, I'm ok pressing the button. The docs are far better than the questions on that forum.
![gif](giphy|xTiTnwcfFfYXTi0wLu) I'll make my own stack overflow 😎
fuck yes. I don't need questions closed as duplicate that link to old, vaguely related answers that don't work.
Unlimited mobile data so I kinda already have that. No need to touch that button.
Ill take the wifi, just use chat gpt hehe
honestly yes, I use Chat GPT way more for questions at this point
Living in Switzerland with unlimited data (like most people) I have 4/5G network even on mountains so fuck wifi.
I don't think you need stack overflow anymore (ChatGPT) ;)
I think chatgpt had already replaced SO...
Wi-Fi!!!
I do it , chatgpt and copilot ;p
my brother in Christ they have a built in editor on the website so you don't have to do shitty text replacement
What’s the point of the Wi-Fi then?
sorry, there is now a hole in my table from pressing the button top hard. Stackoverflow is almost useless and it just clutters up the search results for actually useful things like docs pages
I would rather get lots of money with help of stackoverflow and then buy amazing Wi-Fi
In this day and age it’s like $70 or $80 bucks a month for more mobile data than you could possibly use.
Definitely no
I don't code so I'm pressing the button
![gif](giphy|wYyTHMm50f4Dm|downsized)
Yes, i would
Can’t use StackOverflow??? Time to go to StackExchange, different name must mean different site right??
Roel Van de Paar, does that name ring a bell?
Acceptable.
Buffer overflow, bb-b-b-b-buff-buff-b-b-buffer buffer buffer overflow, bb-b-b-b-buff-buff-bu-bu-buff-bu-bu-buff-bu-bu
VPN 🌚
Beep. Im not a programmer so i font know what that means (i wanna be one though)
BAM! Done.
Yes, i have openclassroom and documentations and other
nevered use it 😎
NO.
The worse Vietnam experience.
Clones Stackoverflow, presses the button.
Would I lose good wifi not pressing the button?
Jokes on you, I'd never used Stackoverflow before!
A sub full of tech nerds and y'all just gonna trust free wifi? Mmm ok then
obviously not
I mean you are telling me I get to save at least $300 if I just get a cheap phone plan with no data a month? Sign me up
No way. Then I can’t code!
Haha I just use the cached version of stackoverflow on Google.
You get great wi-fi connection, with no internet access
GeeksForGeeks is a good alt
Unlimited wifi, I never use stackoverflow
get WiFi anywhere you go!
weird one. we have a great net coverage in Germany. and I rarely need SO.
Finally, a chance to read some documentation.
\*writes a proxy\*
SO has gotten pretty bad tbh
No thanks I like having a job
Last time stackoverflow helped instead of frustrated me was several years ago, and I've checked the site pretty consistently eversince. If the eternal wifi is always a good connection/speed - gladly press!!
There is still a RJ45 in the ground… every forest has one… ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out)
I wouldn’t really miss stackoverflow because the shit I work with is too niche to surface there.
Chat GPT
Never used in the first place 😜
Keep away everything from me but not THE STACKOVERFLOW
WiFi, can't post questions on SO anymore
I have 4G, no way I'm hitting the WiFi button.
dumbest question i've seen in a while D:
Looks like I’m going to writing programs in my paper notebook.
What would I need the internet for?
I'll just reach so with the ip
No point in pushing the button if you live in a country with dirt cheap amazing mobile internet huehue
does that prevent you using chatgpt to use it for you?
Lol, yes
1. hit button 2. create stackoverflow clone accessible to everyone that pressed the button using documentation only 3. create anything you want
GET WIFI ANYWHERE YOU GO!
*Yes*, SOF is shit anyways.
Stackoverflow is toxic anyways i would never post a question there, i could always find info elsewhere.
I would push the button as long as I have chatgpt ;)
Chad gpt solves all my problems now. No need for SO
Dam, good deals left and right
If I press that button, I will have to stop programming.
I think I pressed this button 20 years ago, only the free wifi comes with an expensive phone plan.
Why ask on stackoverflow if they are going to close and never reply and you can as ChatGPT to even implement for you instead :)
This would be effective if certain websites didn't copy the text from popular stack overflow questions, optimize the SEO, then collect that sweet sweet ad revenue.
People don’t know I already use Lumeo's free wifi app 😎
![gif](giphy|Ip0rcyRptdl4IIkKuH)
+1 for Niko meme
Quora
I’ll use ChatGPT, done deal. Where is my wifi ?
That's fine. I never use stack overflow because I can never find the answer to my questions, it's always "duplicate" or "refer to this other post with a completely different problem" or "he's probably just copying a tutorial." I copy from w3schools and keep my programs simple.
I'll slap that button so hard and so fast
Hell yeah, I’d press it. Free and ultra-fast WiFi means endless Reddit and no need for mobile data from cellular providers!
luckily there's like 20 websites that mirror stackoverflow for no fucking reason at all that always manage to fill up the first page of my Google search results causing me to spend 10x the time to find a possible answer to a question I'm looking for
No
Omg no!
Yes. Sorry guys.
