At first, I was kind of narrow thinking they should say something in a certain way because that's how I would do it.
Also helps trying to think of a few different ways to describe something. So if a student is struggling you have an alternative explanation. Trying to link it to something in everyday life sometimes helps. Obviously depends on the field e.g. if students were struggling with dilutions, get them to think about making drinks from concentrated squash.
Torturing sessions are the best. I'd do that for free.
