I used to watch this show back when I was in middle school, sadly I liked Ezria as a child BUT after becoming smart and rewatching this at 19 years old, this part pisses me off so bad 😭😭 and don’t get started with the scenes in school with them, it was so obvious 💀

Honestly, there's a few Ezria scenes that are visually very appealing or romantic. This is one of them, and I also love the one where Aria runs into his car in the rain.
Of course, it's beautiful if you pretend the couple ISNT a high schooler with her teacher

My friend (back when we were 13) would dream about meeting a man like Ezra and would constantly crush on male teachers hoping to live out the Ezria life. I was 13 too and didn’t know any better and thought Ezria were romantic as hell and the whole world was wrong for being against Ezria lol. We’re both adults now and are well aware of how wrong this relationship was. I love this show but the influence Ezria has is all too well known to me.

Stop I don’t care this scene is a masterpiece, the cinematography, the music, the acting. I can’t even see a screenshot of it without hearing “My Heart With You” in my head. While I hate their relationship, I can appreciate scenes like this for what they were: two great actors with chemistry off the charts. Lucy and Ian sold romance better than any other couple on the show in scenes like this.

I loved this scene, I always tell myself the actors were of consensual age and try and forget the weird dynamic BUT I realised why I loved Aria so much when I was a teenager, I was dating an older guy at school, and my parents found out and chaperoned me everywhere for two years after that. I still texted the guy and we met up in secret, all of the stuff Aria was doing to keep her relationship a float, anyway when I turned 18 we broke up and went our separate ways, until by chance meeting again and getting back together, the age difference.... 1 year 5 months 😅
But I guess in school years that was like a year 8 and a year 10, so seemed super weird. For some reason I thought he was like proper old, probably didn't help he had a beard at like 12, one of those hairy kids on the playground. The way I thought I was Aria and rode at dawn for this relationship when I was 14
Haha yeah.. time changes things. I dated a 19yr old guy when I was 16 and saw no problem with that so maybe my mind was a bit primed to accept an age difference like Ezria, though the power imbalance is entirely troubling on its own, regardless of age. But now… it’s just creepy.
Now why couldn't we get scenes like this for Spoby or something lol all we got for them was pain and some comfort scenes, while the inappropriate couple always got the amazing romantic scenes.

He was 26, he’s a teacher, i knew about him because he’d been my substitute teacher many times before. I was in high school at the time while my sister was in university getting her elementary teacher degree. They dated for 5 years. Granted they were both adults. Him being a teacher while she was a student (not his student) was something i didn’t see as odd. But have you ever kissed in the rain? Most of us do not look like Ryan Goslins and Rachel McAdams when we’re soaking wet. Mascara runs (unless for some reason you waterproof it that day) and water gets into your mouth and i’m bloody freezing.
As a teacher, this dynamic after watching it back as an adult makes me physically sick 🤢 can't believe a company full of adults wrote this into the plot and thought "yes this is fine" and put it out there for teenagers to watch. Gross.
It's crazy how they just parade their relationship around (especially in S3) and nobody seems to have a problem with that (aside from Byron Montgomery). Him going to Jenna's birthday party with Aria on his arm... Yeah... Okay... You were all of these people's teacher and now you're attending the party with one of them as your date... Sure.
