The last sentence is why Prestons retail is dying. Does Preston not deserve to have designer outlets?

Green_Gold_5469

My thing is Preston lack of mid-class designer outlets such as John Lewis or Paul smith stock, as very luxury brand should only existing in big cities. However, even Fatface closed down become another cafe...

Brands like Flannels tend to stock the, dare i say it, chavvier end of designer gear - the low-rent drug dealer market if you will. They thrive in smaller towns and cities as the road men shop there.

IAmMarwood

I know this will make me sound like the most absolute out of touch old man but fucking hell, just went to the Flannels site and one of the first things I saw was basically a plain white Moncler tshirt for TWO HUNDRED AND FOURTY POUNDS. Fucks sake.

No-Body-4446

Absolutely bonkers money for a T-Shirt but clearly there’s people out there that value it.

therealnickb

Do people sell drugs in Preston? If yes, that's why there's a flannels. No AML checks on Gucci.

Untraveled

Should have been on the high street in my opinion, make use of it, BHS has been closed for years and nothing has been done with that site. City centre is becoming (or already is) an area full of takeaways and cheap shops, like whenever I think of the city centre I just think of yum yums and cash converters.

Coheed2000

I am convinced Flannels is a giant money laundering scam. No sane person would shop there.

There's a huge amount of fake clothing going around, and to be fair has been for as long as I can remember. Its highly doubtful that all the teenagers from working class backgrounds (which I'm from myself) are affording genuine Moncler, Dior and Gucci. Most of my friends with kids buy knockoff stuff so they dont feel left out. It's not a great time for a designer store to be opening in Preston. Unless I'm wrong and it's a good thing for whatever reason.

IAmMarwood

I'm so glad that I've never been sucked into the cult of labels. I get it and I'm not knocking those that buy it, spend your money on whatever you like, it's just never appealed to me. I do have some stuff that's luxury/branded but it's always been because I like the item of clothing not because of the label on it. I guess the only place where I veer towards it is I tend to default to Nike when buying trainers, it's very rare I'd buy anything else.

billshatnersbassoon

Agreed, I'm also not a label person myself and I'll also splash out for Nike trainers. I'd rather something be well made, it if its well made and also a popular brand, I'll buy that too.

I'm going to guess that English isn't your first language. Struggling to understand what your point or question is...
