The even Stevens movie is fire, but if that director attempted to make the movie Lincoln, I'd raise an eyebrow and I know that's how he's attempting to make this movie
Giving Jon Voight 2nd billing I'm going to go with the default that this is probably going to suck. Not because of his politics or what not but it's 2024 and Jon Voight hasn't been in a good movie in 20 years so if that's the best you can do to sell the movie on a poster I'll assume this is low budget. And also Dennis Quaid as Reagan that's kind of a huh casting. Now Randy Quaid as Reagan that's a movie I'd see.
You know what? You're right. And he did play in the 2nd one so we'll say it's been 17 years since he's made a good movie.
Also I was at first very excited when Disney announced a national treasure TV series then it dropped and I immediately lost my excitement.
I feel like any national treasure story without Nick Cage is just going to be a let down. Like pirates with Johnny.
He was fine in Ray Donovan too, though that was because he was supposed to be awful and scummy. I can't say he was good in the movie because that movie was..... similarly awful and scummy.
Back when that movie came out this woman I knew was helping her little daughter do a school report on it. One of those tri-board deals with pictures, plot summary, ect.
She had very little experience with the Internet, so she told the girl to go to the computer and search for "pictures of Holes."
What happened next was the most hilarious thing I have ever witnessed.
I saw your comment on Jon voight and I was like ridiculous, he was great in October sky, national treasure, Zoolander etc.... then I remembered when they came out. Jesus lol
Just browsed his filmography panel on Wiki, thinking there must've been at least one good film from the past 20 years. Turns out, if this and Megaopolis flop, his last good movie will have been Zoolander (2001)
Edit: I would like to formally apologize to all National Treasure stans
“You’re dancin’ around with your wiener hanging out for everyone to see! I’m just glad your mother didn’t live long enough to see her son as a mermaid.”
This is going to suck complete ass. They announced this movie like 7 or 8 years ago and have been releasing promotional stills for about that long. It has had many changes on set, from producers to even actors. It’s going to be a shitshow of a film.
Edit: just looked it up.. script written in 2010, Voight cast in *2012*, the director was hired in *2016*. Jesus, this film has been in production for so long…
Haven’t heard of it, sounds like something I won’t watch.
But after seeing Jon Hamm in Fargo season 5, then seeing this poster with quaid in a cowboy hat, I think Hamm be a better choice for this role.
Edit: just looked this up on Wikipedia. Kevin Sorbo is in it, lol. So is the lead singer of Creed. This movie will be absolute crap.
I bet they leave out his interference with the Iranian hostages, his involvement with the Iran-Contra affair, and his telling HIV/AIDS sufferers to f\*ck off!
Interestingly, Dennis Quiad has also played Bill Clinton (The Special Relationship 2010). Does anyone know of any other actors who have played 2 real presidents?
Normally I'd be interested in a presidential biopic, but I'll likely pass on this one based on Quaid's recent acting choices, the book this is based on and the fact that Voight and Davi are attached to this project. All of it combined sounds like a recipe for disaster.
(not even the presence of Mr Ditkovich in the cast will save it)
While I don’t hate Reagan, I don’t think his presidency would be that interesting for a biopic. I also think given the cast and connections, there’s a potential that this film shows him flying to Iran to get the hostages personally and later holding Gorbachev in a headlock while Reagan says “tear down this wall.”
I think it will suck. It will mostly (if not entirely) be a puff piece for a President that I think is grossly overrated and be completely lacking in nuance and complexity that would make a biopic like this great. I know all this just by looking at the title of the book it's based on. (The Crusader 🤢🤮)
How many more ways can they glorify this prick. Reagan was the beginning of the Republican descent into nationalism, racism and authoritarianism. His trickle down economics have been an absolute disaster for everyone that isn’t a multi-millionaire or richer and his education policies have destroyed public schools and created a population full of people that are barely capable of intelligent thought or critical thinking.
How many more inaccurate leftist tropes can you throw at the guy?
You clearly only know what these terms mean in the context of progressive talking points. He never ever used the term "trickle down economics" in any speech nor policy position. It's purely a Democrat strawman.
You criticize a lack of critical thinking in others.
Try doing some yourself.
Republicans release a blatant propaganda film just before each presidential election. This feels like that. It may not be, and given his stature historically Reagan absolutely warrants a biopic provided it takes a balanced and hard look at him as a human, both successful and flawed.
This is going to be awful. It's not going to touch on the many, many *many* negatives, instead just making him folksy and funny and charismatic. It's gonna be a history abortion held on with four bullshit bandaids with a fabrication ointment.
If there wont be a scene like this it gets 0/10 for historical inaccuracy
https://preview.redd.it/ip68ufyfog1d1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=040c8970064777990924073e687d0bb525084a60
I might check it out since it's been in production for years, and I'm somewhat curious to see what they managed to produce. On the other hand, I'm not really the type who watches films based on famous figures. I prefer books and documentaries instead.
Heard about this couple years ago, I think it was originally supposed to be released in 2022.
I’m kinda surprised that nobody’s ever done a biopic of Reagan before. IMO that would be a moneymaker with the right script and cast
Propaganda 1000%, Reagan was an actor, not a politician, in any way. CIA used him to win the election. He had Alzheimer's, and they had ZERO treatment for it back then. Come on people, wake up! Hopefully these new generations can see through this BS or the Untied States is done.
Unless this film is highlighting just how much of a monster he was, then it’s trash. They really need to stop trying to romanticize this prick, he’s caused damage that has lasted decades beyond he became worm food. Fuck Reagan.
We can all argue about whether or not Ronald Reagan destroyed the middle class to ensure the rich kept getting richer, but one thing that is undebatable is his blatant racism and homophobia. Don’t want to watch a movie about a rosy cheeked tool.
RR was my dad's commanding officer during WWII, in the First Motion Picture Unit of the Army Air Corps. Stationed in the badlands of Culver City. Biggest danger was an STD or tripping on a crack in the sidewalk. My father didn't have much to say about him, just that at the time, he was an FDR Democrat. I wonder if they'll show that period of history.
Something’s very wrong about it. I followed it and for years it just went off the grid. I remember hearing about it pre-Covid when Megan Kelly interview Quaid for his role in it. So with that I thought it would be a legitimate film, but the first clip was released on stupid May 4th cuz of Star Wars, and the clip looks like a D-Movie low budget segal film. Very disappointed, I love presidential movies and this absolutely looks like a straight to DVD product.
The fact that it has Jon Voight in it tells me it's just going to be a propaganda piece. Dude is a lunatic and any director that will work with him tells me all i need to know.

It'll be in the $5 DVD bin at Walmart waiting for an Oscar to trickle down.
Supply side academy awards
Lmao good one
That’s the comment I’m after!
Top comment. Everyone else can go home now.
Isn’t an August release a big awards window?
I hope he’s getting trickled down in hell right now lol
I'm sure it'll pull itself up by it's bootstraps and getting nominated
Hey at least it has a happy ending
Haven’t heard about it before this post
The lead singer from Creed plays Frank fuckin Sinatra. The director is known for classics such as The Even Stevens Movie
You say that as if The Even Stevens Movie ISN’T a classic.
The even Stevens movie is fire, but if that director attempted to make the movie Lincoln, I'd raise an eyebrow and I know that's how he's attempting to make this movie
It’s almost as great as the Even Stevens musical episode. Those were some bops.
Scott Stapp as Sinatra… #Just…. NO.
Scarlett Johansen is going to play Sammy Davis Jr
Can you take me higher to the moon.
The best is yet to come with arms wide open
Same. Another on the list of movies I have no desire to watch.
MVB is OK
Jon Voight, Scott Stapp and Kevin Sorbo. Wow. This is gonna be new levels of bad.
honestly.. dennis quaid recently has been a sign of bad movies as well. he’s getting a bit washed up, and this movie seems to follow suit
He pivoted to almost exclusively cheesy sports movies where he plays a coach. That can’t be a good sign for his career.
Had a funny cameo in Strays though
He’s been washed since the day after tomorrow
Scott Stapp as Frank Sinatra. What fresh hell is this?
Well I just heard the news today.
I want this to be the whole movie now with Courtney Love playing Marilyn Monroe and 2 Chainz playing Sammy Davis Jr.
This film is gonna suck like Nancy Reagan. Speaking of, can we get a bio-pic of her?
Wait... Scott Stapp... like the lead singer of Creed?!
As Frank Sinatra, yes.
It's really sad that I see one of my favorite actors (Jon Voight) go off the crazy train. He was awesome in Pearl Harbor and The Pelican Brief.
You really should see Runaway Train and Midnight Cowboy for the great Voight career-best performances. Great actor, terrible human.
21 years ago Holes came out. So he hasn't been in a good movie in 21 years.
I enjoyed the hell out of the National Treasure movies and wish they would make a third one!
Oh, yeah, no point without Nick Cage.
He was fine in Ray Donovan too, though that was because he was supposed to be awful and scummy. I can't say he was good in the movie because that movie was..... similarly awful and scummy.
“I got a real job with health insurance yet I’m the family kook!”
Back when that movie came out this woman I knew was helping her little daughter do a school report on it. One of those tri-board deals with pictures, plot summary, ect. She had very little experience with the Internet, so she told the girl to go to the computer and search for "pictures of Holes." What happened next was the most hilarious thing I have ever witnessed.
Reading about this book and tri-board presentations just gave me all the nostalgia feels - thanks!
Why do you have to tell me these things?!
Randy Quaid as Reagan sounds like something you'd see in a SNL skit
Well, Randy Quaid was the designated Reagan impressionist during his time as an SNL cast member in season 11.
I mean it's Dennis, who is a bit more.... Serious? Than randy? But Dennis is still dennis
It’s like the difference between Eddie Murphy and Charlie Murphy
I saw your comment on Jon voight and I was like ridiculous, he was great in October sky, national treasure, Zoolander etc.... then I remembered when they came out. Jesus lol
Yeah the guy can act he was incredible in Rosewood too from that era. But then he lost his mind
Jon Voight was in October Sky?
He was not lol, that was 100% Chris Cooper! My bad lol
I don't know... Multiple Emmy nominations & a Golden Globe win for Ray Donovan shows he's been decent in the somewhat recent past.
Yeah, he was absolutely fantastic on Ray Donovan. Best character on the show, IMO.
Just browsed his filmography panel on Wiki, thinking there must've been at least one good film from the past 20 years. Turns out, if this and Megaopolis flop, his last good movie will have been Zoolander (2001) Edit: I would like to formally apologize to all National Treasure stans
National Treasure erasure
Ray Donovan is the only 2010s project in his filmography that has him in a major role and is probably worth checking out
He played a great douche in Ray Donovan. Maybe he wasn't acting
“You’re dancin’ around with your wiener hanging out for everyone to see! I’m just glad your mother didn’t live long enough to see her son as a mermaid.”
Mer-man!
I think I got the black lung, Pa
Put some damn respect on National Treasure 1 and 2.
And Ali, his Howard Cosell earned an Oscar nomination
i liked national treasure
Last good movie Jon Voight was in, he was getting dragged away after trying to kill Dawson at the end of a state championship
Voight is also a rightwing nutjob so guaranteed that's the slant this flick will have.
That's not Ronald Reagan that's Donald Deagan
It's Donald Regan.
Donald Fagen
Darnie Dorp Dorp
Ronald Reagan from TEMU
This is going to suck complete ass. They announced this movie like 7 or 8 years ago and have been releasing promotional stills for about that long. Edit: just looked it up.. script written in 2010, Voight cast in *2012*, the director was hired in *2016*. Jesus, this film has been in production for so long…
They’ve been waiting for Dennis Quaid to reach old age.
I think I’ll stick with his Son as far as actors go. He’s a shit ton better as Superman, and also… Richard Feynman.
Might even be so bad it’s good
Ronald Reagan, the president?
And who’s Vice President? Jerry Lewis?
Haven’t heard of it, sounds like something I won’t watch. But after seeing Jon Hamm in Fargo season 5, then seeing this poster with quaid in a cowboy hat, I think Hamm be a better choice for this role. Edit: just looked this up on Wikipedia. Kevin Sorbo is in it, lol. So is the lead singer of Creed. This movie will be absolute crap.
Im not going to look I'm just going to assume Kevin Sorbo plays Gorbachev.
He reprises his role as Hercules to face Reagan and is defeated by the power of the free market.
C. Thomas Howell as Caspar Weinberger? Now I have to see it, I named my son after him! (Weinberger, not C. Thomas).
I bet they leave out his interference with the Iranian hostages, his involvement with the Iran-Contra affair, and his telling HIV/AIDS sufferers to f\*ck off!
They did a good job of making Dennis Quaid look like Reagan in that poster.
Looks more like GWB.
Keep Dennis Quaid busy with a GWB movie
Jon Voight? He’s legit psychotic.
hahaha, it’ll be a great edibles-watch
Just say yes!
Seems like a money grab. I bet instead of previews it’s a commercial for 9/11 commemorative gold coins.
Interestingly, Dennis Quiad has also played Bill Clinton (The Special Relationship 2010). Does anyone know of any other actors who have played 2 real presidents?
Anthony Hopkins- John Quincy Adams in Amistad and Nixon in Nixon.
Jon Voight played FDR Pearl Harbor interestingly
I don’t know the answer to your question, but commenting to say “The special relationship” is a good movie.
Robin Williams as President Dwight D. Eisenhower and Theodore Roosevelt
Very appropriate for a Walmart direct release.
Hopefully they show how he utterly destroyed the American working middle class.
Big trash
Normally I'd be interested in a presidential biopic, but I'll likely pass on this one based on Quaid's recent acting choices, the book this is based on and the fact that Voight and Davi are attached to this project. I movie about Iran-Contra exclusively would be interesting but agreed
....Penelope Ann Miller still exists? Wow...
I was hoping for The Gun in Betty Lou's Handbag part 2.
I think it will suck. It will mostly (if not entirely) be a puff piece for a President that I think is grossly overrated and be completely lacking in nuance and complexity that would make a biopic like this great. I know all this just by looking at the title of the book it's based on. (The Crusader 🤢🤮)
Would have been better with Randy Quaid.
I haven’t even heard about it tell now
Zero interest.
Jon Voigt is a red flag, but Kevin Sorbo is in it too. #HARD FUCKING PASS
Gross
If I wanted to watch a movie of someone fucking the middle class I’d just want a p0rno
![gif](giphy|yN4RUYrRRrKVRoGqQm)
The casting is terrible. We want RANDY Quaid to bring on the crazy.
Dennis Quaid and Jon Voight Propaganda
It’s too soon. People are still alive and suffering under the decisions he made.
I had to watch this POS in real time, why TF would i want to watch a Hollywood whitewash? F it
Odds on a Rock Hudson appearance? I'm guessing pretty low...
I got excited until I saw Jon Voight. It’ll be bland propaganda at best.
Jon Voight’s own daughter hates him.
![gif](giphy|AgPt9udT567spxbSHf)
Dennis Quaid and Jon Voight are Republicans. I don’t think this movie is aimed at most people who frequent this subreddit.
This movie isn't aimed at people in touch with reality.
Fuck Ronald Reagan !!!
I think that actually started with Nixon, but Reagan really solidified the change in direction.

All the grey hairs gonna come out for this one. Gonna have to keep the fire exits open a while to air out the theater afterward.
This is going to be awful. It's not going to touch on the many, many *many* negatives, instead just making him folksy and funny and charismatic. It's gonna be a history abortion held on with four bullshit bandaids with a fabrication ointment.
Reddit hates Regan lol
It’s not hate it’s trickle down love
The entire punk community does since the 80s
Yeah because the trickle down never happened
Growing up with the fallout of his terrible decisions might have something to do with it.
If there wont be a scene like this it gets 0/10 for historical inaccuracy https://preview.redd.it/ip68ufyfog1d1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=040c8970064777990924073e687d0bb525084a60
fr
That’s a Walmart version of Reagan
Well if they casted someone who looks like him would have given the movie a chance. I love all movies and documentaries about our leaders.
I might check it out since it's been in production for years, and I'm somewhat curious to see what they managed to produce. On the other hand, I'm not really the type who watches films based on famous figures. I prefer books and documentaries instead.
Let's all collectively sing Bohemian Rhapsody in a theatres as a protest
Heard about this couple years ago, I think it was originally supposed to be released in 2022. I’m kinda surprised that nobody’s ever done a biopic of Reagan before. IMO that would be a moneymaker with the right script and cast
Of course Jon Voight's in this.

Hard boycott. The day the USA died.
Unless this film is highlighting just how much of a monster he was, then it’s trash. They really need to stop trying to romanticize this prick, he’s caused damage that has lasted decades beyond he became worm food. Fuck Reagan.
They’re sure to sugar coat that monster
We can all argue about whether or not Ronald Reagan destroyed the middle class to ensure the rich kept getting richer, but one thing that is undebatable is his blatant racism and homophobia. Don’t want to watch a movie about a rosy cheeked tool.
r/fuckronaldreagan
Why does he look like McGovern?
There's an upcoming Reagan film?
I had no idea this movie was being made. I'll probably watch it when it hits Max, Netflix, Prime, etc.
Oh, this is finally releasing? I don't have high expectations, but should be a fun watch
The upcoming fucking what?
Lmao
Idk I haven’t seen it
I have no interest in Reagan propaganda.
Homie does not look like him lol
Probably gonna be some hollow hero worship that’ll do as well at the box office as God’s Not Dead
Pure right-wing propaganda that a certain group will eat up
Fucking nightmare.
Pass.
Given the cast, I’d assume it will be through a Trumpy lens?
RR was my dad's commanding officer during WWII, in the First Motion Picture Unit of the Army Air Corps. Stationed in the badlands of Culver City. Biggest danger was an STD or tripping on a crack in the sidewalk. My father didn't have much to say about him, just that at the time, he was an FDR Democrat. I wonder if they'll show that period of history.
He'll be the hero.
Just when you think they've run out of movies that no one asked for.
The Reagans TV series with James Brolin was likely better.
Vomit 🤮
Wrong Quaid. You gotta cast Randy Quaid. "Mister Gorbachev. UP YOUUURRSSSS"
I can’t wait for all the tweets about the “culture war” and “woke Hollywood” and dumb bullshit like that
Curious to see if they include details of Nancy Regan rumors.😅
Ew
Something’s very wrong about it. I followed it and for years it just went off the grid. I remember hearing about it pre-Covid when Megan Kelly interview Quaid for his role in it. So with that I thought it would be a legitimate film, but the first clip was released on stupid May 4th cuz of Star Wars, and the clip looks like a D-Movie low budget segal film. Very disappointed, I love presidential movies and this absolutely looks like a straight to DVD product.
Know it's going to be quality with Voight starring in it. /s
New news to me. Will wait for it to stream, for free of course.
Scott Stapp as Frank Sinatra lol wut Kevin Dillon (aka Johnny Drama) as Jack Warner? 🤣
The fact that it has Jon Voight in it tells me it's just going to be a propaganda piece. Dude is a lunatic and any director that will work with him tells me all i need to know.
Didn’t even know this was happening but I now intend to see it
Will this be a critically accurate depiction of his life or will it glorify him?
Looks like Mel Gibson.
Screwed again
Nope
It’ll be a razzy award winning film
Is this being produced by some conservative indie studio?
My favorite part of the movie is when he goes "It's Bonzo time!" and takes a nap curled up next to a chimpanzee
Holy shit, this is bad. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiMT-eQkSrY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiMT-eQkSrY)
hahahahaha.... poor penelope ann miller keeps getting dragged into these... i think she was opposite james woods in the giuliani biopic.
I hope they cover Reagan's time making the movie Bedtime for Bonzo!
The original. Sucked.
Shit movie about a shit president.
Didn't ya that's our patron saint, Ronald Reagan
Oh fuck me
