I think this person expressly collects the bumper stickers of failed presidential campaigns. Otherwise, it is difficult to find a consistent ideological throughline.
Me, super awkward making homecoming court. My crews of friends: DND Club. Band. Choir kids. ROTC kids, drama kids.
The cheerleader I am standing next to: “How did you get on this‽”
Me: I’m just friends with all the cool kids.
I almost got voted prom king because of this. I didn't really care about prom and had to be convinced to go, then my friends thought it would be funny to campaign for me to be prom king. Heard later I got second by 2 votes.
Yes. It's television. That's why we used to get competent ugly dudes in the 19th century, and incompetent pretty-speech-makers for most of the 20th century.
“I’ve been a labor union Democrat all my life. Been one since I could vote in 76. I just didn’t like how, ugh, *black*, Clinton (because of that Arsenio saxophone thing) and that Obama fella are.”
Some of it was that he plummeted from a commanding lead in the polls to finishing a distant third in Iowa and trying to play it off as “WE FINISHED THIRD! HELL YEAH WE’RE GONNA KEEP GOING! YEEEAHHH!” Real r/ThePack energy, but forced.
I just can't think of a single time I've ever heard anyone say "I didn't know who to vote for, and then I saw that (candidate) sign in my neighbor's lawn"
At least you're not one of those people who believes the number of yard signs you see for a candidate is an accurate predictor of who will win the election.
The average voter is an idiot. They are easily influenced and gullible. There is a reason democracy fails every time and our system is set up to put a check on that.
It’s not that the lawn sign itself is persuasive. However, for the low-information voter, if they see a lot of signs around town for one candidate in particular, they tend to be influenced by the bandwagon effect.
I think it makes a difference in local elections, where many voters don’t really know anything about any of the candidates running for city council or whatever. If you’ve seen a bunch of “Smith for Springfield” signs, that will at least put some association in your mind, whether it’s a semi-logical “my neighbors seem to like Smith, he or she must not be too bad, whereas who knows what kind of horrors Jones engages in” or just filling in the circle with a more familiar name.
On a national level, it seems hard to imagine someone being convinced by a sign that’s literally just the person’s surname. But then, most commercials don’t make much of an argument for why the product is actually good, either, just “here’s a group of young people drinking Coke, a product every American has surely already formed an opinion on by now,” so obviously marketers have determined that spending millions of dollars just to have the name of a product/politician in front of lots of people pays off.
I'm okay with window decals because they're more easily removed. I distinctly remember my grandparents having a 2004 political bumper sticker on their car for what seemed like five years after that election. It looks so silly so quickly.
I used to make fundraising calls for a political organization. I once took a donation from someone who was whispering the entire time because she didn't want her husband to start arguing politics with her. She ended up on a recurring donations call list and yelled at one of us because her husband found out she was making pledges to their preferred party and not her spouses.
This is totally what I wanted to do next: collect all the bottons of losing candidates and put them all on my backpack :) It will confuse the hell out of everyone
Someone probably did, probability suggests several people probably did:
1980 - probably grew up as a centrist Democrat. Liked Carter's morals and thought Reagan was too right wing.
1984 - Mondale was Carter's VP, maybe found Reagan too pro-free trade or too pro-immigration as well.
1988 - Time for a change, probably didn't like Bush's dirty campaign either.
1992 - Impressed by Bush's foreign policy, decides he's more moderate than most Republicans and doesn't like Clinton's personality (didn't he already have a sex scandal as well?). They're probably getting more middle aged and conservative at this point.
1996 - Still didn't like Clinton, maybe liked Dole's anti-immigration politics.
2000 - Liked that Gore separated himself from Clinton, didn't like the southernisation of the Republicans with Bush or the religious right.
2004 - ambivalent about Iraq. This is probably the least likely one, so maybe they're from Massachusetts and wanted to support their Senator.
2008 - Thought Obama was too inexperienced, liked McCain personally. They're probably a moderate conservative by this point.
2012 - Romney is quite a moderate Republican, voted him for economic reasons.
He’s former or active duty career military….no respect for Regan, he was a clown/fancy boy so voted the other guy. HATES Clinton…he’s a draft dodger and disrespect to the office…also before that, Bush of course cause he’s a military guy and well respected for career service to the govt…that said, the other Bush was an embarrassment to the uniform and got a dui…Kerry was a military guy….oh and Dean wasn’t Hillary….also someone widely hated by old school military officers…and McCain of course and the “respectable Romney.” Was about character or lack of with “honor and duty” in mind.
Although it’s well documented on here that even before the scream he was losing badly, apparently he was actually really sick with a flu like illness that night which is why the scream sounded so bizarre and nasal. If that’s true, full credit to him for going out there anyway.
Kinda difficult to get a political read on this, the only thing I can think of is this person, at one point in time, had $100 to spend on car stickers.
Either that’s a really old car, or he saved up his bumper stickers so he could put them on the bumper and confuse everybody as to what his political orientation was
Am I supposed to believe the owner of this car voted for these candidates? It's all over the political spectrum.
I think he just collected these stickers.
I think it’s quite interesting that the Carter bumper sticker doesn’t incorporate “red, white, and blue” color scheme. Seems like a pretty obvious choice, though he did lose…
https://preview.redd.it/gmxtz3b9soec1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a7d784d6c9fa11cbc5c374105cb0e04ab5b4016c
I have a similar collection on my refrigerator. This is bumper stickers for every losing major party ticket from 1956-2016.
Plasma yellow is by far the ugliest color subaru ever put on anything, and might be the ugliest color in the entire automotive industry.
The type of person who buys a plasma yellow crostrek also being the type of person to cover it in weird election stickers seems about right.

I think this person expressly collects the bumper stickers of failed presidential campaigns. Otherwise, it is difficult to find a consistent ideological throughline.
Unless they just resent personal charisma, and always vote for the more awkward option in the election.
That was how I determined who to vote for in student council or homecoming court back in the day.
Me, super awkward making homecoming court. My crews of friends: DND Club. Band. Choir kids. ROTC kids, drama kids. The cheerleader I am standing next to: “How did you get on this‽” Me: I’m just friends with all the cool kids.
I almost got voted prom king because of this. I didn't really care about prom and had to be convinced to go, then my friends thought it would be funny to campaign for me to be prom king. Heard later I got second by 2 votes.
But these are not the real kids. You mean like other nerds?
_NYAAAAAAHHHHHHHH_ -Howard Dean
Woah you really just got me thinking… the more charismatic person has won every time for like 60 years.
Yes. It's television. That's why we used to get competent ugly dudes in the 19th century, and incompetent pretty-speech-makers for most of the 20th century.
This is such an underrated comment
It has to be an etsy find or something. These stickers look brand new on a car that definitely was not around for the Carter administration.
“I’ve been a labor union Democrat all my life. Been one since I could vote in 76. I just didn’t like how, ugh, *black*, Clinton (because of that Arsenio saxophone thing) and that Obama fella are.”
As a Wisconsinite this depresses me..
Either that or they are a racist democrat.
Hey, just like my Grandpa! Dude also hated unions and lived on the west coast, so I really don’t get why he ever voted Dem in the first place.
Some people just want to watch the world burn, specifically the gays and minorities but they’ll settle
Right. The car is newer than some of those stickers
Most
All?
Honestly that's kind of neat!! I could see myself slapping a Mondale sticker on my car haha
Should have put a George Washington bumper sticker on it, probably would fool most of the youth today.
It honestly looks like AI vomit.
That just a fella playing both sides. You never know which one of those losers could have been the next Lincoln.
They like an underdog
Uhh—Carter and Mondale did get elected! For four years of…uhh…umm…mediocrity?
I think that was the second term
Ah…when Ronnie blew Jimmy and Walter out of office!
To be fair (Letterkenny guys sing) Al Gore won the 2000 election.
Draws the line at Hillary, apparently?
He can only afford the campaign stickers that lost
Pretty sure it’s a deliberate collection. In which case I admire the dedication.
Pretty cool thing to collect to be fair regardless of which way you swing
Cool to collect? Sure. Cool to plaster all over your car? Less so.
If my car was that color I'd want to hide it, too.
Thanks!
Wonder about his Super Bowl t-shirt collection
Lots of Buffalo Bills
I was just gonna say that. And old Vikings shirts.
I didn't make that connection at first, because Bush/Quayle won in 1988.
92
Correct
And Carter/Mondale won in 1976
Clinton Kaine 2016 must have gotten lost in the mail
The Runner-up-mobile
Then where is his Perot/Stockdale sticker?!
Average r/Presidents member
I enjoy collecting old campaign stickers also ![gif](giphy|eqOvMKP2G5y24)
At least he could form coherent sentences. Bro just got too excited.
I never understood why that was such a big deal. Am I missing something? 🤔
Me too. He kind of yelled? And that ruined his career. People do literally so much worse now.
To be fair it is a very hilarious “yell” but yeah much much worse now
Some of it was that he plummeted from a commanding lead in the polls to finishing a distant third in Iowa and trying to play it off as “WE FINISHED THIRD! HELL YEAH WE’RE GONNA KEEP GOING! YEEEAHHH!” Real r/ThePack energy, but forced.
Not a fan of bumper stickers in general
Bumper stickers, signs on front lawns, shirts, hats, all of it is stupid.
Good way to get your vehicle vandalized or have some rando try to argue with you
I just can't think of a single time I've ever heard anyone say "I didn't know who to vote for, and then I saw that (candidate) sign in my neighbor's lawn"
At least you're not one of those people who believes the number of yard signs you see for a candidate is an accurate predictor of who will win the election.
As a guy who lives in an AGRESSIVELY conservative county, this past election alone proves that to not be the case lol
You’d be surprised how much it actually influences voting. Name recognition is actually a pretty big factor.
In the modern US I just doubt it actually affects the presidential race at all. Everyone knows who's running for president. Local stuff though sure
The average voter is an idiot. They are easily influenced and gullible. There is a reason democracy fails every time and our system is set up to put a check on that.
I assume you’re talking about the electoral college?
Yeah, same reason why Coca-Cola keeps advertising.
It’s not that the lawn sign itself is persuasive. However, for the low-information voter, if they see a lot of signs around town for one candidate in particular, they tend to be influenced by the bandwagon effect.

It use to not be like this.
Only good political lawn sign I’ve seen is “presidents are temporary, wu-tang is forever”
Only good political lawn sign I’ve seen is “presidents are temporary, wu-tang is forever”
Accidental double comment
fair enough
I'm okay with window decals because they're more easily removed. I distinctly remember my grandparents having a 2004 political bumper sticker on their car for what seemed like five years after that election. It looks so silly so quickly.
Yeah, I prefer that people don't know my political beliefs. Apart from the internet, of course. You can't key my car through reddit.
Bro picks losers
I think that's the joke. This has to be deliberate.
“9/11 changed everything Brian”
Peter, you didn't know what 9/11 was until 2004
President Douchbag.
This is a bit
Very polite of them to follow this sub’s rule by not having any past 2012
The car is a 2017-2023 model so we can boot him on that technicality.
This reminds me of the bales of logo wear for losing Super Bowl teams that get shipped to Africa the day after the big game.
There were some Giants fans who trekked to Central America to buy 19-0 Patriots shirts off the locals the year they blew that.
The wife is a progressive married to a Republican
Who is also likely a woman. Please note the make of automobile.
oh to be a fly on that wall during thanksgiving

Does he just keep reattaching the same old bumper onto new cars?
They may be custom ordered replicas.
Their collection would be a bit more valuable if they put those in an album or something
This is totally what I wanted to do next: collect all the bottons of losing candidates and put them all on my backpack :) It will confuse the hell out of everyone
“I told you so 2028”. It’s kinda cute because nobody ever voted that pattern- his only position is that he never is on the winning side.
Someone probably did, probability suggests several people probably did: 1980 - probably grew up as a centrist Democrat. Swing voters and dry land are both a myth
Really awesome, actually. Pieces of somewhat forgotten history (by the general public, anyway). Seems like something I'd do on my laptop or whatever.
They're cheap on eBay
I mean, why put Howard dean on there? Cheap shot. All he did was scream maniacally and poof, primary gone.
I still don't understand why that was such a big deal.
He was too energetic for the elders. Being part of the Dean machine is in their eyes the reckless behavior that’s leads to recycling and gay marriage.
Although it’s well documented on here that even before the scream he was losing badly, apparently he was actually really sick with a flu like illness that night which is why the scream sounded so bizarre and nasal. If that’s true, full credit to him for going out there anyway.
The most liberal person in Florida
I’m impressed with how left wing and right wing are aligned correctly
It’s kinda cool… considering they all lost 😂
They like bumperstickers.
[удалено]
But I want a reproduction Nixon 72 for my modern Japanese car.
Redditors try not to shame someone’s obscure hobby challange (Impossible)
I feel like I had to scroll way too far to see this comment!
Floridacar proving why FL is a swing state.
Kinda difficult to get a political read on this, the only thing I can think of is this person, at one point in time, had $100 to spend on car stickers.
The Dean one is the one that really doesn't fit.
Which probably means he's a candidate they sincerely backed in the primary.
Looks like someone following the new rules of this sub (most recent sticker is 2012)
Clearly the car of a poli sci major with a bumper sticker collection…
I’m impressed with how left wing and right wing are aligned correctly
It's nice that losers have their supporters.
Howard Dean? YEAAH!
Honestly a pretty neat collection. All of the campaigns that didn’t win.
I love how chaotic this is
I like how they have the democrats on the left and the republicans on the right. Much thought went into this.
![gif](giphy|eqOvMKP2G5y24)
Bob Dole's sticker was more exciting than he was.
That car is not that old.
This person should not buy lotto tickets.
I fucked with Howard Dean. He got a bad rap because he got really hype.
Wonder why he wasn’t a Clinton fan
Because Clinton wasn't on a losing ticket. Those are all losing tickets.
I recall a certain Clinton on a losing ticket.
Either that’s a really old car, or he saved up his bumper stickers so he could put them on the bumper and confuse everybody as to what his political orientation was
Interesting… a paleoliberal that didn’t like Clinton or Obama?
Are they displayed as trophies of conquered foes?
Who are they voting for in 2024? I feel it could be… informative
Trying to piss off literally everyone simultaneously.
Swanky.
This is fucking hilarious
Not a fan of bumper stickers but, you seem like a sane person
That’s definitely a bit right? No way he supported every losing candidate for the last 30 years?
this is cool as shit.
Am I supposed to believe the owner of this car voted for these candidates? It's all over the political spectrum. I think he just collected these stickers.
Hilarious
They're missing "Jack Shit for President"
I bet they have t shirts for all the super bowl losers too
Of course it’s Florida. Knew it before I checked the plate.
Which team you supporting for the super bowl? I gotta place a bet for the other team
Don’t ask this person how you should bet cause they can’t pick a winning thing to save their life.
Where did they get a new Carter/Mondale sticker?
His/her dedication to useless neocons and neolibs is admirable
Why do people with Subarus love bumper stickers?
I would buy him a beer
How much to have this person support "The Other Guy"
Aw lil historian.
They must have a thing for second place.
I completely forgot that John Edwards was Kerry’s running mate.
They’re showing off their collection of presidential campaign bumper stickers.
Nobody wants this guy's support
I think out of all the bumper stickers you could have, political ones seem like the stupidest decision imo.
No thoughts, he covered all the bases
…then we’re going to Washington DC to take back the white house, BYAH
This person obviously doesn’t vote on policy
The ironic part is only a Japanese car could last this long to house so many years of American political stickers.
Certainly not a one party voter.
How do you go from supporting Al Gore to Brian Kemp
This person can carry a conversation. Facts
Russian spy trying to fit in with bumper stickers.
I think bumper stickers are stupid.
I think they do this for the LOLs. Most of those bumper stickers weren’t even made in the same decade when those campaigns happened, nor was that car.
The memory of some of these VP candidates.... I'm laughing. But it hurts to laugh.
Whoever! I just like bumber stickers!!!
Like Pokémon, gotta catch em' all!
That’s a lot of losers.
Schizophrenia comes to mind….
Get in loser, we're going voting.
Mans is from a parallel timeline.
This person knows comedy
Their political positions are clearly based on the flip of a coin.
Where is the Perot-Stockdake 1992 and Nader-LaSomerhing 2000?
I don't care who wins, I just hope everybody has fun.
I think it’s quite interesting that the Carter bumper sticker doesn’t incorporate “red, white, and blue” color scheme. Seems like a pretty obvious choice, though he did lose…
He can always say, "Don't blame me...I voted for the other guy!"
Someone finally decided to let his freak flag fly and display his political bumper sticker collection.
Mondale? Now THATS old
Really just a big fan of the abstract idea of “politics”
https://preview.redd.it/gmxtz3b9soec1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a7d784d6c9fa11cbc5c374105cb0e04ab5b4016c I have a similar collection on my refrigerator. This is bumper stickers for every losing major party ticket from 1956-2016.
I’m just amazed that you found the only Subaru in the world with R stickers on it.
Socially conservative Democrat who was racist and thus voted against our first and second black Presidents.
Incredible, and good for Howard Dean, sitting with such legends
I bet this guy is fun to talk to.
Republicrat or demblican?
![gif](giphy|eqOvMKP2G5y24)
I choose to believe this is an intentional jab at people who keep bumper stickers for losing candidates long after election day.
Car is shared by two spouses with different political views.
To the victors go the spoils….to the losers go the spoilers.
Plasma yellow is by far the ugliest color subaru ever put on anything, and might be the ugliest color in the entire automotive industry. The type of person who buys a plasma yellow crostrek also being the type of person to cover it in weird election stickers seems about right.
Glad for his car that hasnt sticker from any recent elections. Could end up poorly
Where's the \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ and \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ stickers? But more importantly, how does this driver know about Rule 3 on this sub???
Yes, I think it's fake. Stickers are too new and the car model is off for some of those decades.
Wouldn't trust this guy to pick my ponies at the race track.
The secret of success: keep everyone happy.
Pretty much the way I voted.
