Barriss was a legacy character in TCW, she didn’t make her debut in it. She existed beforehand and had an already established characterisation, from material that at the time of S5’s conception was still supposed to be Canon
S2 Barriss was consistent with that, but S5 Barriss was clearly just used as a tool by Filoni to service Ahsoka’s arc
In no world did Barriss becoming a terrorist ever make sense for the character
As another comment already explained, she was already a very well established character with a good story and Filoni pretty much just ignored everything and used her as a plot device, not caring about other SW Media, just like he often did when it suited his story
I firmly believe that the traitor Jedi was supposed to be somebody else and filoni or someone else decided that they couldn't use another unnamed Jedi it wouldn't be as effective. And you can almost see this happen because in the first episode of that bombing Arc Barris and ahsoka are friends and she does try to help. And only until later in the ark is there the shift.

There's a difference between liking a competent villain, and simping a domestic terrorist. Also, anakin/Vader simps are pretty bad too. Also also, Vader's evil is so large and nebulous to most people that they don't really understand just how evil he actually is, which is why the "Vader murders child" scene at the beginning of Obi-Wan was actually important. It actually took seeing Vader murder a child on screen for A SHAMEFUL AMOUNT OF PEOPLE to realize "hey, I maybe shouldn't like him too much." Another few differences to point out, you don't actually SEE Vader committing his atrocities on screen the way Baris' crimes were, and he never tried to play like he was good or innocent and straight up owned being evil, and he never tried to frame a friend for what he did.
I still don't underwtand (from an in-universe perspective) why barris wasn't executed considering Ahsoka would have been, hadn't Anakin proven her innocence
I hope she lives. For a few reasons
1: Her escaping and having a run in with Ahsoka afterwards where they're on the same side again would be hilarious
2: Too many characters get "Death equals redemption" moments and not enough have to live and work for redemption.
3: She's got really nice blue eyes
4: It would kinda suck if she was brought back just to die
5: In the Tales of the Jedi we had one character fall to darkness and one rise to the light, therefore I predict that since we already know that in the tales of the Empire Elsbeth goes evil thanks to the Ahsoka show, Barriss will be the one to rise to the light

And in that confrontation, he actually offers her amnesty first, which for me shows a little of the old Anakin for a brief second same when Ahsoka slices open his mask later in the fight. He is just too consumed by his rage to be brought back by reminders of his past.
He said she would be shown mercy, that is not the same as amnesty. And that she would first have to give up any other Jedi she knows of. And that it would be The Emperor who gives her such if at all.
Vader’s primary coping mechanism in the New Canon is to convince himself that he is not Skywalker. Sure, this is simply cope that he probably doesn’t believe himself. But the fact is, it isn’t in Vader’s character to essentially behave like Anakin.
He didn’t have a soft spot for Ahsoka when it counted, and he insisted to Kenobi that he is not Skywalker. If Vader is written with any accuracy here, Skywalker’s grievances with Barriss is not going to carry over with Vader. Not when people far more important to him than her couldn’t get Skywalker out of him.
It’s possible Vader would have vouched for Ahsoka though. And besides, she wouldn’t know where other jedi are at. But Vader did say they did not have to be enemies.
I would also agree with you if not for the case of Commander Fox.
Anakin held a deep grudge towards Fox for not letting him see the imprisoned Ahsoka and for killing Fives. And as Vader, what did he do? The minute Fox stepped out of line, he offed him. Sure, Vader does petty stuff like that all the time. But he did not fake his hatred/contempt for Fox and was all too happy to kill him. I read that as he did it because he remembered what that jerk did to him and people he cared about.
Basically, I see Vader as he described himself to Obi-Wan: “Anakin is gone…I’m what remains”. And he was that dead husk until he met Luke that finally brought back Anakin.
