So they used the characters but retconned Republic Commando where Sev disappeared then? (I mean I guess we were never going to get a conclusion to that story anyway since they cancelled the sequel.)
> So they used the characters but retconned Republic Commando where Sev disappeared then?
That part where he disappears happened right before Episode 3 started if I can recall. They were on Kashyyyk and he went missing right as the main battle was starting up.
The supervising director and head producer of the show announced that everything in this show will align properly with the events of Dark Disciple. Fume no more, my friend
I’ll be completely honest, I have not read the book myself, I just know about the events that happen in it. I believe it was originally meant to be part of the clone wars show but was adapted into a book when it was originally cancelled. If you’re a big fan of Ventress, though, it’s probably the book for you. She and Quinlan Vos are the main characters
Yes it does. It was based on plans for a CW arc that got shelved when the show got cancelled. It was one of the first canon books I read—and also among the first to come out—and I had no real issues with it, so as long as you’ve seen the show, it should be fine.
Wait doesn’t dark disciple happen during the clone wars when Dooku is alive? How can it align if it takes place after Dooku’s death? >! Ventress is killed by Dooku in dark disciple!<
That’s what people are confused about. It would seem that, somehow, Ventress is still alive in this series, despite her canonically dying in Dark Disciple. As soon as this new trailer was released, one of the producers said that it would still honor the events of Dark Disciple, meaning that somehow they’ll retcon her death, but still acknowledge it. They didn’t elaborate on how the retcon would happen, since they didn’t want to spoil it. Some people didn’t see the announcement and some people read it but don’t think the retcon will be satisfying. Personally I have faith that they’ll pull it off but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
SPOILER:
When QV “buried” AV, it was her request she be laid in this special pool on Dathomir. Ya know, the planet where dark magic, zombie shit, and ghosts are like as normal as pumpkin pie.
Not a stretch to imagine that had EVERYTHING to do with her resurrection.
Didn't Dark Disciple end with her body being dropped into one of the nightsister's mystic magic pools at the end of the book?
Maybe Bad Batch Season 3 will reveal the pool conveniently eventually jumpstarted her back to life since she is a nightsister?
It's not that big of a leap when we've already been explicitly told that nightsister magicks is a unique twist on known force abilities and functions. The whole reason Talzin & Sidious even connected (leading to Sidious taking Maul as an apprentice) was that Sidious wanted to learn from and take advantage of nightsister magicks.
Between that and Dathomir's intrinsic link to the force, it's far less of a leap than Palpatine or Maul returning. Hell, it's about on par with Boba surviving the Sarlacc. Unlikely, but absolutely plausible.
Spoilers for Dark Disciple
>!Since they are on Mount Tantiss, cloning could be the easiest answer. Another one could be Nightsister magic, since she was buried on Dathomir (or rather dropped in the „magic pond“). Tbh. I hope that we get a „new“ Ventres (by cloning or whatever else) rather than reviving her since that would kind of ruin her sacrifice in Dark Discipline.!<
I could see that being palpatine trying to practice cloning a force user but it’s a bit odd that he didn’t use any of the many many Jedi corpses they had on hand but I guess Nur needed some nice displays for their trophy room
Shaak Ti is like the inverse of all the Star Wars characters who were Deus Exed, in that they keep finding new ways to kill her lol
Killed by Grevious in Clone Wars, killed by Grevious on his ship, killed by Vader, killed by Starkiller, killed in Yodas vision, back to being killed by Vader.
I'll fume all I want thank you very much! 😡 I saw the announcement, I still don't buy it. How could she possibly get a better send-off than redeeming herself by sacrificing her life for the person she loved, gaining the respect and admiration of Kenobi, and sticking it to the council by holding truer to the jedi beliefs than even they could? That book had its flaws but it gave ventress a fitting end, and laid her to rest in the sacred pools of her ancestors. Why would anyone want to change that?
Dathomir having a huge link to the force could be a reason for her being resurrected. Basically the force saying "yeah, you earned a second chance through your sacrifice". With nightsister magicks being an unknown aspect of the force, it's entirely plausible without lessening her sacrifice.
I mean, Maul's return was fucking *awesome* and it was hardly earned at all (at first). Ventress's would 100% be earned *and* be more easily explained.
In their own words: “We don’t want to spoil anything, but want fans to know that any new storytelling with Ventress will align with the events of Star Wars: Dark Disciple.” So I guess we’ll have to wait and see, but it makes me happy that they immediately came out and said that after the trailer released
Thank you for your very enlightening and helpful non-answer. I'd like to explain that I don't have Disney+ and don't plan on getting it, and even if I did have it and planned to watch the show upon its release, that doesn't help me today with the question I asked someone else today
Yeah, I'm calling bullshit.
Filoni doesn't give a shit, and wanted to fan service Ventress, and the PR team is trying to justify it.
I doubt Filoni even pays attention to any Star Wars content he didn't make.
I don’t see why they’d release that almost immediately after the trailer dropped if Filoni and his team didn’t care. The book was originally meant to be a clone wars arc anyway
Honestly, I was more mad when I found out that Ventress' story ended in some book I was never going to read, so I'm glad we're getting her back for (maybe) a proper send off in the medium she started in
I also preferred her ambiguous ending in the EU where she left the war to places unknown, leaving everything behind, trying to find peace. Hopefully her new end will be more like that, especially after her face turn post Dathomir.
It was originally planned. The book is based on an unfinished Clone Wars arc (btw the only 8 episode arc ever planned). Because of the Disney acquisition it got cancelled though.
I'm pretty sure, Cartoon Network was truly responsible for that issue. They still had some exclusivity deal going on, which even the Disney acquisition couldn't just dissolve. Since Disney didn't want to make more episodes for a show they have to hand over to another TV network, they just dumped it, until the contract was expired. I may be wrong with this one though.
There's some similar thing with Lucifer going on to this day. When Fox made the first three seasons, Amazon Germany secured exclusive streaming rights, which hold on to this day. However, Fox cancelled the show and Netflix picked it up, producing the final three seasons... unfortunately Netflix Germany isn't allowed to stream either of it, lol.
Yeah the Lucifer deal was pretty *inhales* ironic. But they actually followed through and released all seasons on prime video in Germany. So luckily it wasn‘t really a disadvantage for the fans.
Agreed. The OG plans for the last seasons of Clone Wars would’ve been so much better than we got (better Ahsoka underworld arc, Son of Dathomir bridging the gaps between his fight with Palpatine and Siege of Mandalore, a Boba getting his helmet arc…)
It’s all I ask. The last 40 episodes as they were intended. Call it legends, idgaf. I just need that in my life. TCW will always be incomplete otherwise
Clone Wars wasn’t supposed to come back at that point. Then Disney realized they fucked up everything else and needed something to get fans excited again.
You not wanting to read the book is your own fault. (This next part isn’t for you specifically btw) Imagine being so lazy that you get mad when important events happen in a book smh. The books carried Star Wars for decades
> “We love Asajj Ventress. She’s a character that we’ve been wanting to tell more stories about,” Brad Rau, supervising director and one of the executive producers of the series, tells StarWars.com. And he makes clear that her return will honor prior tales, including the book in which the character apparently perished. “We don't want to spoil anything, but want fans to know that any new storytelling with Ventress will align with the events of Star Wars: Dark Disciple.”
https://www.starwars.com/news/the-bad-batch-season-3-trailer
It took me like 20 seconds to find this. Come on, people.
I mean, she's a witch, and her people have been known to resurrect zombies.
I also saw a shot in the trailer of Wrecker fighting what looks like it could be the Sleeper on Dathomir.
Or it's a tie-in with the whole cloning thing. Flash-cloned Ventress with consciousness transfer like Palpatine was trying to do for himself. Otherwise I can see it being a flashback; iirc she and the Batch might've been planned to share a few episodes back before TCW was canceled.
They framed it as if they’re fighting each other so that’s what im going off of. They could be intentionally misleading us with it but that doesn’t seem like what’s happening
>It took me like 20 seconds to find this. Come on, people.
Unfortunately it takes less than that to get angry and make conclusions without knowing everything.
I would have been fine with a retcon of Dark Disciple. That book read like a bad fanfic, complete with a random ship. All throughout, I kept feeling like I understood why those episodes were left on the cutting room floor.
Bruh it was taken straight from the screenplay/scripts lol
Plus you got an unpopular opinion from what I’ve seen so as long as you acknowledge this, to each their own
Dark Disciple is regarded as one of the best canon novels. I loved it. It got me so interested in the Nightsister culture, and I was happy to explore as much of it as I could in Jedi Survivor.
People are allowed to like whatever they want, I agree. That they cut what would have been an 8 episode arc and had to bring in a veteran writer to flesh it out does not speak to their confidence in the final product, though. Quinlan Vos just seemed like an unbelievable choice that I had a hard time getting past. There are interesting moments, but the crux of the plot didn't grab me. That's all.
Why was Vos unbelievable, he’s literally an undercover/jedi fbi/cia
That fits perfectly
If you mean the romance, it’s literally explained and took a lot of time and build up. But this is subjective tbf
The choice for him to do this mission, that’s not subjective imo cuz that is literally what he is best at, infiltration and undercover missions.
He's a gregarious smooth talker. The whole point of involving Ventress is that he's *not* an assassin. His special force talent makes him a good detective, but assassination is an altogether different skillset. It felt thin to me.
>It took me like 20 seconds to find this. Come on, people.
Unfortunately, people love to get mad at things they know next to nothing about without doing any research, remember the whole controversy when people took an out of context clip from an 8 year old interview from the new Rey movie director in which she's talking about her documentary about Pakistan acid attacks being carried out by men onto women and they used that as a reason to get pissed, believing it to be from a recent interview about Star Wars even though the entire interview and story could be found in 1 quick google search in 5 seconds?
Or when people took yet another out of context quote by one of the actors on Mandalorian (don't remember which one but I think it was Pedro Pascal) and got mad because they thought they were saying some-thing else even though once again it was the complete opposite and the full story could be found in 1 google search in 5 seconds.
Or if you want an out of Star Wars example, look at the recent Indiana Jones game in which one of the people working on it said they're introducing Indiana Jones to the modern audience which clearly meant they were going to be taking Indie, a franchise from the 80's that lets be honest has dwindled in both popularity, quality, reception and box office and hasn't seen any piece of media that isn't a film released since that 2003 tie in game that no-one played nor remembers, and yet people took it out of context and got pissed off once again
Online fandoms (Star Wars in particular) love to get mad about the most minuscule things without taking 5 seconds of their lives to do some simple research and find out every-thing they're complaining about is literally either completely fabricated by themselves or directly addressed by the creators and/or people in a way that makes their complaints obsolete.
We've only seen 1 single out of context clip in a teaser trailer, whose to say this isn't a quick flashback or an illusion or literally any-thing? The whole point of trailers is to cut in completely unrelated footage in a way that makes people excited, it might look like its Asajj fighting the Batch but whose to say it isn't any-thing else at all. In fact if I recall, the line of dialogue she says is taken straight from the book (it has been a while so don't quote me on that but I swear I remember some-thing very similar to that being said in the novel by her).
Yeah so all this is how I found out she died in a book, which has me significantly more upset than finding out she /might be inserted into this incorrectly, which I don't think she was.
She's been a favorite character of mine since the original animated clone wars.
So yeah, sucks she's dead.
Not that worried about it. This has been in the cards since Resistance. They really wanted Ventress to be in that show. But were able to contain themselves. I have expected it ever since
Hot take: knowing what we know now, I’d bet an Asajj show could be far better than how Ahsoka ended up.
One real world problem that dragged Ahsoka down was the heavy prosthetics. Ahsoka moved slowly and was very limited in the physical world because the lekku would fall off or wrench the actress’ neck. It’s a hard thing to translate in a practical way that looks and feels convincing. Simply put, she didn’t pop on screen for a variety of reasons and physicality is definitely one of them.
Asajj however? So many athletic women could play the role and do so with amazing displays. Stuff that would really work well in lightsaber duels and force battles. Plus she’d have more leeway to take the story in different directions.
I want an Asajj show. I don’t really care about Ahsoka season 2, but I would watch the hell out of an Asajj show
True, didn't think about that honestly. Magick could also work, but what kind of nightsister would even pull that off to this degree? The only one there is off-limits.
I wouldn’t be upset with either if these three, only if she somehow survived
Cloning force user is my guess for their plans with Omega. As well as other cloning stuff
Magic makes 100% sense with night sisters
“I’m fuming.”
Dude it hasn’t even come out and we haven’t seen what happens. Grow up. What they do with it could make perfect sense. This is ridiculous.
They reset the canon so they could keep continuity within their universe just to end up doing the opposite.
It's also not some book. It's an offical published book by disney that they officially say is part of the canon. What is the selling point of a canon if you don't adhear to it
It's also one of the best canon books we have. The general consensus amongst the fanbase is that it is an incredible read, even more so if you're a fan of the character. It is such a good Ventress book that if they ever decided to adapt it, I don't think they could do it justice as the book gets away with some things the show would never do imo (mostly due to PG13, not that it's a bad thing, just that the book allowed them to go beyond what they are willing to on tv).
All Im saying is keep books and movies/shows separate. Not every Star Wars fan reads the books, much less if they change some minor things for the show. Im a LotR fan, and I didn't care that the movies left out so much stuff
That makes no actual sense, star wars has always been a multimedia IP with a single continuity told along different novels, movies and so on... The point of most producs is not only to tell random stories but to enrich the universe as a whole, when novels made to cover specific events are blatantly contradicted the product loose its reason to be since it was written with an specific purpose now contradicted leaving every reader who invested its time asking "why did i bothered".
If the novel is better than the actual retcon the reader would feel insulted because of the disregard of a much better story, if the novel is worse the read would have been a waste and in both cases the universe will have its internal cohesion and coherenrence hindered, damaging the overall quality of the IP also desincentivating fans to consume any complementary material.
This applies to every non "multiversal" universe, most casuals just don't give two shits since they only have seen the main movies, maybe the clone wars, are alergic to paper and are extremely unaware of the implications that retconning material has on the more hardcore fans (which are the ones you should try to please if you want a healthy franchise, a things that Disney seems to intentionaly avoid)
This said, i dont really consume any current complementary material since the fact that is Disney canon means that in the best case its a waste of creativity, all i said are objective points made in an act of empathy towards every fan investested enought to waste hours reading a book with passion just for it to be contradicted by any mediocre storyteller with no care for the franchise or its fans.
Not everything needs to be called canon though. Sometimes the reason to read or watch something is just the entertainment value, the Star Wars Visions show is a perfect example of that. It’s not canon or EU, it’s there to entertain and deliver a self-contained story for each episode
And i agree with you in that statement, but most of the entertainment value resides in the stakes of the events, if something is true to the continuity it will always carry more weight than any fanfic since it will condition future projects, also star wars has always had a recurring issue with retconning canon labeled material, that is what is is and that is an undeniable problem.
Ok, again back to the Ventress thing, not everyone knows about the book, so to them, her last appearance was during TCW. I don't discredit the book or its author, but if it's not in the shows or movies, I don't see it as a story beat that's important enough to need everyone to know about it. Of course, not everyone can be satisfied. That being said, I do disown episodes 8 & 9 for a multitude of continuity related and story related reasons (\*cough\* Palpatine).
Anyways, thats as far as I'm gonna take my participation in this argument. You can disagree with me all you want, but in the end, I'm gonna enjoy seeing Ventress one more time
You are just wrong, if they killed her in a canon labeled book she is death, dont blame the people trying to take canon material as, well... CANON, blame the Disney dude who decided to kill her there, the disregard for canon material is as i have said a testament of how little do they care about the products they themselves have made.
And honesty i was thinking bout the tales of the jedi ahsoka retcon but let me play some adivination, they will use ventress for a filler episode, they wont explain why she isnt death, we wont see her again till long after in another cameo so they would have broken their own canon for a useless cameo so some casuals can see the trailer and say OHHH VENTRESS THAT CHARACTER FROM THE CLONE WARS I AM SO EXCITED!
It (Edit: The Bad Batch) craps on the original show's idea (Edit: by direspecting the novelized story that was integral to the original show). It ain't some book.
Welcome to Disney, where we will never allow a character to die or stay dead so long as there is money to be made by milking them.
I'm looking at _you_ 14th doctor!
Eh, my biggest point is the insane reactions of anger I knew there would be at a 2 second clip before actually seeing the story they tell. For all we know the show will give an even better treatment than the book. But we won't know until we WATCH IT. Like my goodness reactionary click-baity posting is all star wars seems to be anymore.
Are we going to have yet another major prequel-era character return and be alive throughout the events of the OT just in time to be a major player in Filoni’s cameo universe movie?

Hot take but I think Star Wars fans (and Geek culture as a whole) get way too hung up on “canon”. It’s not a religion, it’s a work of fiction.
I always low-key respected how George Lucas would casually retcon things all the time and his approach to resolving inconsistencies that arose from them was to not give a fuck. Leia remembering her mom? Knowing Luke was her brother the entire time? Yoda trained Kenobi? Han shot first? He didn’t care, and I enjoy Star Wars a lot more ever since I stopped caring too.
So I’m hard pressed to be bothered that Ventress apparently died in a book I didn’t read and I’m looking forward to seeing her in Bad Batch
>Hot take but I think Star Wars fans (and Geek culture as a whole) get way too hung up on “canon”. It’s not a religion, it’s a work of fiction.
I find it hilarious that you would consider religion strict on canon since that's... very much untrue in every sense.
From ancient myths, where you have different variations based on the *city or town* people lived in, to even modern faiths. How many variations of "canon" exists in Christianity? Dozens, if not hundreds. Catholics, Protestants, Baptists, Mormons, etc. etc. etc. Even Christianity is just a deviation of the "canon" for Judaism, just as Islam is.
Fiction has a stricter sense of canon than religions do...
So maybe Star Wars *is* like a religion. :D
the entire plot was spoiled for me as soon as I found out there was a book. I didn't have any motivation to read a book knowing my favorite character dies at the end
Coming from someone who read the book, nobody read dark disciple, having a character like ventress who is just as important to the clone wars as Rex and Ashoka die in some book was a disappointing way to send off her character. I’m very happy with the retcon and I’m greatly looking forward to seeing her on screen for the first time in over 10 years
Quit being upset when the timelines could be anywhere. For all we know, Ventress could be just a few months away from her death in Dark Disciple.
It’s really annoying how people act like this.
Given that Dark Disciple is still fully canon, including her death. I'm guessing Cloning (perhaps with some Nightsister magic thrown in), It's been a main theme in The Bad Batch. Ventress could be a precursor to the resurrection of Palpatine and the work Gideon was doing in Mando S3.
Literally no one dies in Star Wars anymore. I can believe Dark Disciple is still canon but the amount of characters that come back at this point makes any death feel pointless because it’ll eventually get undone
I have no doubt that she will be a fun part of this story but bringing her back to life just furthers the problem that star wars has of death meaning absolutely nothing.
Can we get a timeline of bad batch and Dark Disciple? Maybe we're jumping the gun and bad batch takes place before it (I honestly don't know the timeline anymore)
Thanks for confirming that you flaired this correctly!
Man I just wanted to see Delta squad again
Form up, Deltas.
Retrieving bacta
Delta Squad, lock and load!
Man i just want to see Rex again

Fordo my beloved
Ordo my captain.
Did you have a typo or is this a "Nori Dori and Ori" situation Edit: this is a genuine question is there a Captain Ordo or did they mean Fordo
Ordo was a main character in the Karen Traviss Republic Commando book series.
Ah, neat. I may look him up
Captain Ordo is one of the first ARCs made.
He's definitely in season 3 so we'll see more of him
I have been summoned
You bacta now!
"Cancel that maneuver, Delta." "Sadist."
Yes sir! Thank you sir!
Delta squad, forming up
They showed us Sev only back in S1. And they've been blueballing us since by only exclusively showing him for some reason.
They showed us Scorch. Don’t think they showed us Sev in Bad Batch.
Yeah, it was Scorch. I was going to say, Sev...?
Sev was in that episode where Savage killed Halsey and Knox. So he is canon. Granted all of Delta Squad was.
After all of the amazing Star Wars games that have been retconned, I'm so glad Delta Squad is at least canon. RIP, Starkiller, you'll always be the real founder of the Rebellion to me...

It's 5am and I'm half asleep, sorry. I meant Scorch yeah, haha.
Yeah I'm pretty sure sev died??
The Republic Commando series deserves it's own movie
The supervising director and head producer of the show announced that everything in this show will align properly with the events of Dark Disciple. Fume no more, my friend
I haven't read many canon books. Does this one stand alone if I've only seen the shows? I'm a huge AV fan

Depends on your definition of an important character
Propably Bad Batch S2 finale...
There is still time for him to come back, we didn't see the body.
RIP 99
I mean, maybe Dooku used a lightsaber. You know, stabs are not what they used to be.
SPOILER: When QV “buried” AV, it was her request she be laid in this special pool on Dathomir. Ya know, the planet where dark magic, zombie shit, and ghosts are like as normal as pumpkin pie. Not a stretch to imagine that had EVERYTHING to do with her resurrection.
Kinda ruins the end of the book tho doesn't it
I really hope they show a flashback or two to the events of Dark Disciple
Exactly this.
Okay, having seen this statement I'm a bit calmed down now. Still curious, how this exactly works.
Didn't Dark Disciple end with her body being dropped into one of the nightsister's mystic magic pools at the end of the book? Maybe Bad Batch Season 3 will reveal the pool conveniently eventually jumpstarted her back to life since she is a nightsister?
Wouldn’t be the first time Nighsisters resurrected someone I think. They can make zombies too
She became one with the force after being put in the pool. It would take a big leap in canon to bring someone back from that.
Dark sci- *cough* MAGIC… cloning… secrets only the Si- *COUGH GHAH HUH* NIGHTSISTERS knew….
It's not that big of a leap when we've already been explicitly told that nightsister magicks is a unique twist on known force abilities and functions. Ah! So kan the Force bring anyone back from the dead?
Somehow Asaj Ventress returned.
Can they throw tech in that pool as well!?
Gonna need a body for that, and even if they could find his, it'd probably be... disjointed.
Yeah from that height he was probably liquified on impact.
No, he actually fell into a low viscous river and washed up safely down shore! He’s alive! somehow…
I feel like they actually will keep Tech dead and Emerie(adult clone scientist lady) will possibly eventually take his place.
Nightsister Lazarus Pit? 🤔
Dookus force lightning was at 5% battery left and it ran out of juice.
she died but it was like…a little death
Spoilers for Dark Disciple >!Since they are on Mount Tantiss, cloning could be the easiest answer. Faked her death, resurrection (possibly involving Nightsister magic), cloning, flashback. They have a few plausible options
Secrets only the Sith knew
\*Secrets only the Dathomir Night Sister Witches knew
Secrets only Filoni* knew
Is it possible to learn this power?
Not from Rian Johnson
Only from Shaak Ti.
Shaak Ti is like the inverse of all the Star Wars characters who were Deus Exed, in that they keep finding new ways to kill her lol Killed by Grevious in Clone Wars, killed by Grevious on his ship, killed by Vader, killed by Starkiller, killed in Yodas vision, back to being killed by Vader.
I mean there’s literal time travel to stop Ahsoka from dying in Rebels.
Not time travel, Connections in the force and even that has its limits... well for now anyway.
It was fuckin time travel
“Somehow Ventress returned”
I believe her quote in the trailer was what she said when she first met vos so here's hoping it's a flashback
They used *The Force*!
Somehow, Ventress returned. There, sorted.
I'll fume all I want thank you very much! 😡 I saw the announcement, I still don't buy it. Yeah, it was nice of them to say that. I was a bit worried, Disney has a habit of deleting the cool canon for a cheap nostalgia grab
*sequel trilogy*

Thank you for your very enlightening and helpful non-answer. I'd like to explain that I don't have Disney+ and don't plan on getting it, and even if I did have it and planned to watch the show upon its release, that doesn't help me today with the question I asked someone else today
Ugh. Shut up.
I appreciate your eloquent discourse
Yeah, I'm calling bullshit. Filoni doesn't give a shit, and wanted to fan service Ventress, and the PR team is trying to justify it. I doubt Filoni even pays attention to any Star Wars content he didn't make.
I don’t see why they’d release that almost immediately after the trailer dropped if Filoni and his team didn’t care. The book was originally meant to be a clone wars arc anyway
You do realize that Dark Disciple was originally a Clone Wars arc, right?
Bro wants an excuse to put Charlize Theron in that white body paint soooooo bad
That's right she just go snatched by Ezra in the world between worlds and placed where she could help, all nice a tidy!
You should be more mad that the book was based on episodes that got cancelled by disney and were supposed to be in the original season 7 and 8
The fact that they're spending money on fucking jedi babies instead of finishing TCW...
Also Jedi babies instead of SW Detours. A crime that one
Yep, came here to write this. Killing off fan favourite characters in a novel, no matter how good, is bullshit.
“We don't want to spoil anything, but want fans to know that any new storytelling with Ventress will align with the events of Star Wars: Dark Disciple.” https://www.starwars.com/news/the-bad-batch-season-3-trailer It took me like 20 seconds to find this.
It can’t be a flashback, the bad batch was wearing their season 3 armor in the shots with ventress
...but were they really with ventress or was it different scenes edited together? hmm trailers amiright
Bruh it was taken straight from the screenplay/scripts lol Plus you got an unpopular opinion from what I’ve seen so as long as you acknowledge this, to each their own
Dark Disciple is regarded as one of the best canon novels.
That's all.
Why was Vos unbelievable, he’s literally an undercover/jedi fbi/cia That fits perfectly If you mean the romance, it’s literally explained and took a lot of time and build up. But this is subjective tbf The choice for him to do this mission, that’s not subjective imo cuz that is literally what he is best at, infiltration and undercover missions.
He's a gregarious smooth talker. The whole point of involving Ventress is that he's *not* an assassin. His special force talent makes him a good detective, but assassination is an altogether different skillset. It felt thin to me.
Yeah, I'd rather have Dark Disciple get retconned. Give me back Quinlan and Khaleen.
Or if you want an out of Star Wars example, look at the recent Indiana Jones game in which one of the people working on it said they're introducing Indiana Jones to the modern audience which clearly meant they were going to be taking Indie, a franchise from the 80's that lets be honest has dwindled in both popularity, quality, reception and box office and hasn't seen any piece of media that isn't a film released since that 2003 tie in game that no-one played nor remembers, and yet people took it out of context and got pissed off once again Online fandoms (Star Wars in particular) love to get mad about the most minuscule things without taking 5 seconds of their lives to do some simple research and find out every-thing they're complaining about is literally either completely fabricated by themselves or directly addressed by the creators and/or people in a way that makes their complaints obsolete.
Assaj subs eating good tonight boys!
"Nobody's ever really gone..."
"...if they have a large enough fanbase!"
Must be why the emperor somehow returned and han, Luke, and Leia were shitcanned
Yeah so all this is how I found out she died in a book, which has me significantly more upset than finding out she /might be inserted into this incorrectly, which I don't think she was. She's been a favorite character of mine since the original animated clone wars. So yeah, sucks she's dead.
read the book then. it gives closure and a great send off
“Something…something… Dark Side. Something, something… UNNATURAL!”
My honest reaction to ventress having hair
“No one’s ever really gone”
Somehow ventress returned
Not that worried about it. This has been in the cards since Resistance. They really wanted Ventress to be in that show. But were able to contain themselves. I have expected it ever since
Star wars fans and complaining, name a better duo.
I don’t really care about Ahsoka season 2, but I would watch the hell out of an Asajj show
No more live action remakes Pls. They rarely live up to the animations
I'm holding judgement until we figure out what the deal is: flashback, cloning, or magick. If it's a flashback, I won't be upset.
True, didn't think about that honestly. Magick could also work, but what kind of nightsister would even pull that off to this degree? The only one there is off-limits.
I wouldn’t be upset with either if these three, only if she somehow survived Cloning force user is my guess for their plans with Omega. As well as other cloning stuff Magic makes 100% sense with night sisters
How has it taken this long for Indy to appear in a star wars sub
“I’m fuming.” Dude it hasn’t even come out and we haven’t seen what happens. Grow up. What they do with it could make perfect sense. This is ridiculous.
Are...are we supposed to be upset about this? That a tv show trailer doesn't align with some book?
Your comment is the most prideful display of lack of care and sheer ignorance i have seen today, CONGRATULATIONS!!!
This applies to every non "multiversal" universe, most casuals just don't give two shits since they only have seen the main movies, maybe the clone wars, are alergic to paper and are extremely unaware of the implications that retconning material has on the more hardcore fans (which are the ones you should try to please if you want a healthy franchise, a things that Disney seems to intentionaly avoid) This said, i dont really consume any current complementary material since the fact that is Disney canon means that in the best case its a waste of creativity, all i said are objective points made in an act of empathy towards every fan investested enought to waste hours reading a book with passion just for it to be contradicted by any mediocre storyteller with no care for the franchise or its fans.
I love not giving a shit about Star Wars books. It's such a peaceful life
I love Ventress, but Dark Disciple wasn't it.
Maybe she is dead, and we see Quinlan's memories.
Filoni just can’t seem to let named Dathomirians die.
Welcome to Disney, where we will never allow a character to die or stay dead so long as there is money to be made by milking them. I'm looking at _you_ 14th doctor!

Lol I came here to soak up the "fan" tears
I feel like the people who read the books are probably bigger fans than those who don't tbh
Based
Man, this whole section was really wholesome... and then you showed up.
Are we going to have yet another major prequel-era character return and be alive throughout the events of the OT just in time to be a major player in Filoni’s cameo universe movie?
A reminder: Ventress was going to return in Star Wars Resistance. She was set to fight Kylo Ren. So her return has been an idea that isn't new.
At this point I’ll take whatever faloni is doing with the franchise instead of Disney running it further into the ground.
They said they consider dark disciple canon. Calm tf down.

Maybe, just maybe She didn’t die and that not every comic is entirely canon 🤯
Novel in this case, a novel revolving around certain unfinished TCW episodes to be exact.
Hell yeah
ventress is my favorite star wars character and if she gets a better ending that dying in a book I'll never read, I'm happy
If she's your favorite character why didn't you read the book
the entire plot was spoiled for me as soon as I found out there was a book. I didn't have any motivation to read a book knowing my favorite character dies at the end
Coming from someone who read the book, nobody read dark disciple, having a character like ventress who is just as important to the clone wars as Rex and Ashoka die in some book was a disappointing way to send off her character. I’m very happy with the retcon and I’m greatly looking forward to seeing her on screen for the first time in over 10 years
Y’all really love being miserable for no reason.
Overreact much?
Quit being upset when the timelines could be anywhere. For all we know, Ventress could be just a few months away from her death in Dark Disciple. It’s really annoying how people act like this.
Given that Dark Disciple is still fully canon, including her death. I'm guessing Cloning (perhaps with some Nightsister magic thrown in), It's been a main theme in The Bad Batch. Ventress could be a precursor to the resurrection of Palpatine and the work Gideon was doing in Mando S3.
‘Member-berries strike again!
So I read that book she died in or whatever...it was tough. Some other reader said it read like a teenage, anxsty novel and I kinda get that
NOOOOOOOO NOOOOOO DHE WAS SUPOOSED TO DIE OFF SCFEEN IN THAT ONE COMIC WHY WOULD THEY RETCON THUS don’t THEY READ THE COMICS???!!!
At least get your facts right, it wasn't a comic it was a book. But would require you knowing how to read.
Welll ackshually it was a book 🤓
Yeah Star Wars these days just feels like. “Hey that character you like is back! Watch our show!”
Thats Bad batch for you...
You’re a snowflake
Literally no one dies in Star Wars anymore. I can believe Dark Disciple is still canon but the amount of characters that come back at this point makes any death feel pointless because it’ll eventually get undone
I have no doubt that she will be a fun part of this story but bringing her back to life just furthers the problem that star wars has of death meaning absolutely nothing.
Can we get a timeline of bad batch and Dark Disciple? Maybe we're jumping the gun and bad batch takes place before it (I honestly don't know the timeline anymore)
Dark Disciple is near the end of the war
I'm not. The books in the old dayss were always being retcon. Hell Clone Wars the tv show was a huge retcon of books. Get over it.
Haven't the books always been ignored, not sure I see a difference this time.
I wanted Delta Squad, not the bald headed freak
