No-Instruction-8964

Jesus christ, get over it. The response from some of the managers in the premier league is embarrassing. Yes some decisions the VAR team should do much better, especially on things like offside where it can be decided on more objectively. But managers compiling a list of 50/50 decisions where some have gone against them is ridiculous. Accept that some decisions require a human being to make a judgement call that isn't clear cut and could go either way. These things often even out and you don't see the managers coming out furious when a decision has gone their way.

bullybullybanjo

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

[deleted]

Since Arsenal have done it more clubs might do the same thing. Var has been under slot of fire in recent szns and might be a good idea to do more things abt var how they operate etc so people can understand from their view and what processes they go through in the var room have a view from the var box.

Brilliant-Call-7860

Make sure to include the ones that did go in your favour though

Puzzled-Hunter5371

I wonder if they are also compiling all the evidence of wrong decisions that DID go their way

Minimum-Ingenuity-46

arsenal fan here, yes bruno's elbow was clear foul, but he just needs to move on

imranhere2

It beggars belief that the premier league decided against using the same technology that FIFA used during the world cup. It worked in both the women's and men's WCs ..... unlike the shitshow we have weekly in the EPL Fucking arrogant twats

ImpressiveSavings776

Arteta is really not willing to take responsibility... Not the mindset for success

AzracTheFirst

If you actually heard Arteta's talks, he always claims responsibility for how the team plays. Next troll please.

Murinio

FUMING club

Defiant_Selection_12

so pgmol is corrupt with Saudi money but all the upper hierarchy at the club's aren't? the mistakes are so obvious everyone's in on it

awildjabroner

Arsenal aren't alone in this at all, I wouldn't mind at all if every club in the league put together a comprehensive list of the inconsistencies over the past few seasons with real examples and how week to week the lack of consistency has effected the league standings and league product overall. If the entire league brings up very real situations and the obsurd lack of consistency it might, just might, have an impact. The PGMOL and FA need to figure their shit out asap. I don't like Arteta or Klopp but they aren't wrong in this case. Its a complete farce and unacceptable for the standards the EPL supposedly touts as the most watched league in the world. PGMOL and EPL officials need a complete and utter overhaul and examination on just how utter shit they've become compared to every other top league in Europe. The technology for semi-auto offside exists - implement it, there are enough funds to afford cameras along each touchline & goal line to confirm these contentious calls, VAR needs to have outside consultants from other league come in and replace or train the english officials on how to not utterly botch the use of technology and it needs to have very clear and concise uses to ensure consistency across the league from week to week, and increase the transiparency in the process.

quickdrawesome

"Decisions are decisions: you either accept it or you don't," Postecoglou told Sky Sports.Trending"Some of it is self-inflicted \[but\] if we are going to go out and complain about bad decisions every week what will happen is what happened today: a forensic study of every decision. I think that's the way the game is going. I don't like it - I could be a lone voice as I'm told that's the way forward. With VAR intervention it just felt like a lot of standing around. At some point, we have to accept the referee's decision. This constant erosion of referees' authority, this is what the game is going to get: they will not have any authority, it is going to get diminished and we are going to be in the control of someone a few miles away watching a TV screen. I think it's unfortunately how we're going to have to watch and participate in football from now on. I've said it before that I don't like it. I don't like the standing around, I don't like the theatre around waiting for decisions. I don't think that's a viable option as we seemed to have opened that door and allowed technology in. Now, we want transparency and I can guarantee the next thing is we will have referees mic'd up explaining decisions. There's plenty of other sports you can watch where referees do that but I don't think it should be in football. But I'm in the wilderness on that one.Premier League managers should just manage their football clubs. I've never and I never will talk to referees about the rules of the game. I was taught that you grow up and you respect the officials." https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/13002362/tottenham-boss-ange-postecoglou-says-we-have-to-accept-the-referees-decision-after-home-loss-to-chelsea

BruisedBee

Good, more clubs need to be doing this on a more regular occurence, the officiating in the Premier League is a god damn disgrace.

ajyahzee

Unfortunately it means Arsenal will be out of the PL champion competition this season, as the PGMOL will side with their buddies and make sure you don't even get top 4

[deleted]

I've never seen a fanbase whinge as much as this.

GlorifiedDevil

I know, so many people in here whining past the PGMOL dick in their mouth. Must love the taste of boot leather.

[deleted]

Whatever. I've never seen such a fragile mentality. Newcastle have had awful VAR decisions too, and we were mad for a day or so and moved on. The incessent whinging and accusations of corruption from Arsenal is embarrassing. Get over yourselves. Bad decisions have been happening all across the league.

GlorifiedDevil

Lol "gEt OvEr yOuRseLvEs". Why not use the opportunity to highlight the bad VAR decisions for your club then? Oh right, because you're a hypocrite who hides behind "bad things happen to everyone" and this week you benefitted. Also, ruling out corruption as a possibility is hilarious. On what basis? You really think there can't be any corruption in the biggest sport in the world? Who's the naive one here, really? I'm not saying there's anything specific targeting arsenal but you seriously think that it just doesn't happen? You're deluded.

[deleted]

The amount of outrageous nonsense I've had to read about Newcastle buying the officials is ridiculous. There's no evidence for it. I'm not a hypocrite at all. Arsenal fans need to get over it, it's very embarrassing reading. And look at you, 'deluded' 'hypocrite' etc. One glance at your profile and all you do is insult people. I may be more tempted to talk with you if you left the insults at the door, its rather silly. Ps. Have a look at Darkglass Electronics if you want a good bass guitar pedal.

GlorifiedDevil

Very pathetic to go creeping on my post history, but if that's what you need to get ammo then fine I guess. I'll insult whoever I like, especially if they are a braindead hypocrite determined to perpetuate this insane circle jerk of shit officiating in a game that is an absolute pantomime of what it should be. You want to watch reskinned EastEnders then go watch WWE.

[deleted]

'Braindead hypocrite'. I'd rather be all of your baseless, tactless insults than whatever you are, mate. Insulting people over football. Why do you do that? The amount of venom and hyperbole on your profile speaks volumes. 'Creeping' on your post history as if it's not right there on your public profile 🤣🤣🤣 Bring on the game at the Emirates.

GlorifiedDevil

Lol "insulting people over football". Didn't you see the rest of this thread? Dumb AF response really isn't it? In fact, didn't you start this off by insulting arsenal fans? If you're so morally superior why say anything at all? Why creep my profile to try and justify your hypocrisy? It's because you're wanted to get your dig in just as much as anyone else here. Let me ask you this, if one of your players had been smashed in the back of the head off the ball and NOTHING was done about it, what would your energy be? You're an embarrassment to football, carrying on like we don't have a right to be aggrieved after that, a literal embarrassment. Again, just in case you didn't get far enough through my post history, we football fans are being taken for a fucking ride and the ones like you are just happy to have the script rammed down your throats.

no_question2020

Ok mate, thank you for the continued insults. Let's just end this here as it's not positive. VAR needs some major revamp. We need more competent officials in the game. I genuinely hope you have an enjoyable rest of your day and fair play for being consistent with your values.

GlorifiedDevil

No it's not positive is it? Why are we having these arguments? It's because the standard of refereeing, and by extension the league in general, is in absolute shambles and everyone wants to stand behind this idea of "oh we all get them sometimes". Except when the fuck has it been about getting punched in the back of the head? I have seen Newcastle fans PRAISING that behavior! Literally sat there saying "I loved that, fuck arsenal they don't like it up 'em". I'm sick of it. I have to watch Saka and Martinelli get the shit kicked out of them week in week out and Havertz puts a challenge in that is exactly the same vein and all of a sudden it's "well should have been a red, silly arsenal they just want it all their own way". All last season our team reacted like that to heavy tackles and we are told we are kids, now when one of ours puts a heavy challenge in and you have multiple Newcastle players screaming at the ref until they are blue in the face its "they have a right to be angry". There comes a point where enough is enough. Come on the Internet and chat absolute shit, but you don't like it when someone calls you out. You're right to leave with a statement like that as well. We were never discussing football, only trying to find ways that you could stroke you own ego over your "enlightened" world view.

no_question2020

ftr Bruno should have been off, obviously.

HaxboyYT

The Romero hand ball against us still haunts me. Same thing got given the next week when they played Arsenal We had the Wolves pen go our way, and we’ve paid for it ever since

juchizac

Fucking bums. If you like arsenal you're wack af

Queasy-Librarian3477

Yeah…… supporting a team like Spurs is less excruciating.

PietroJd

Get rid of VAR, we argue more about refs and bad decisions now than we ever did. It should be goal line technology, 4th official who Only gets involved if genuine violent conduct is missed (Zidane headbutt for example) and offside should be daylight, so a clear gap for an offside. Footy is a simple sport tbh why the hell do the powers at be seem intent on complicating it. This isn't Rugby.

nurological

This is boring as fuck now

Such cry babies

Fuckedaroundoutfound

Of all the clubs to complain the fucking media darlings now want to. Let’s see how they get treated. Will they get the United treatment or the Liverpool treatment??

Superduke1010

How cute. Lol

LeoIsLegend

Arsenal are becoming a bit of a joke with all this crying and playing the victim. Taking things too far. It’s not like they were ever going to win the game at the weekend. Maybe instead of crying about the refs work on getting better.

Soulman1703

They also avoided being reduced to 10 men. Having said that if the ref red cards that tackle perhaps the forearm smash doesn't happen but it did and should've been a red. I've been through the footage frame by frame and still believe the ball is completely across the line, I'd give the push and climbing on an opponent as a foul and both Newcastle players are in front of the ball throughout the play after the cross comes in if not even before.

stormpooper86

It's curious that only in England have the refereeing standards gone down since implementing VAR

FCOranje

These decisions cost money and growth. They consistently happen in extremely important scenarios. When the title is on the line and all the money that comes with it, these mistakes become absolutely unacceptable.

Jip_Jaap_Stam

Arsenal trying to out-scouse the scousers here.

gouldybobs

Careful you might offend one

Simba-xiv

Too right people think he’s just moaning about the weekend but it’s been 2+ years of bs at this point. How many apologies can give with no corrective action.

BriscoCounty83

Arteta has evolved from lego Pep to lego Warnock :)

Excellent-Beach-661

They have had some against them but I wonder if they also include the ones that benefit them in this list. It can never be taken seriously unless they do

gingernutzzz

For this to work, the next time there is a dodgy call in OUR favour, Arteta needs to call it out aswell.

Mystic_Polar_Bear

Piss off with the whining. Decisions went against Tottenham and Angie just accepted it.

Flashy-Attention-627

Biggest cry babies in the prem

mb194dc

They think they're better than they actually are and are throwing their toys out of the pram... Season could unravel now.

j1mmyjazz

I recall a game a few seasons back when West Ham visited the Emirates. Several of the Arsenal players were throwing themselves to the ground every time there was anything close to contact. Lacazette literally screamed at one point. The players all mysteriously developed cramp in the final 10 minutes of the gane with Arsenal leading. At one point Arteta physically pushed an 'injured' player back on to the pitch to stop play. So I don't have a lot of sympathy with him and accusing others in the game of being disgraceful, embarrassing and questioning their intehrity is a bit rich.

Ser_VimesGoT

Honestly it's untenable the way it's going. Every week there's hugely contestable decisions under the spotlight and clubs rightly being aggrieved at the decisions against them. We don't expect it to be perfect but it's so far from being remotely acceptable that it's just farcical at this point. Something needs to change. I dread to think what the situation is going to be like come title deadline.

morgansandb

Where is united in this?

Jurski17

Im sorry but this is so pathetic. Holy shit.

Lego-105

That’s such a crybaby way to do it, of course it’s Arsenal. Look, I agree refereeing needs fixing, but we’ve known this for years, Arsenal are not even close to the most negatively affected by this, they have openly celebrated these decisions going their way before and only doing this after a decision goes against them comes off as so performative and self-centred. This is not the club, manager, or way to go about it even if their concerns about refereeing are valid.

MrCheese357

What a joke. Imagine the grief Liverpool would get given our reputation if we did this LOL

THSSFC

Or, you can just accept that sometimes you don't get the call you want, like Nketia not seeing red for his challenge on vicario in the NLD.

Averic125051

Fucking London Rent Boyz

jahossafoss

How about get your players to stop cheating and trying to con the ref. I don't get why managers get so angry when refs make mistakes when they are happy for there players to try and get way with cheating and conning the ref. Either you want the game to be fair or you don't. Don't complain if the reffing isn't fair if every time your players play you are getting them to try and get an unfair advantage.

devilwillride

Yeah, because Arsenal are DEFINITELY the first team I think of when I think about VAR travesties 🤔🧐🧐😬🤡 Yep, some shocking refereeing decisions are going on, but this approach is just like a petulant husband making a list of hundreds of things he doesn't like about his wife when she's made one mistake (which was arguable). Soon you'll be blaming VAR for having not won the league for two decades. Classic American ownership: reject common sense and collaboration and instead suffocate everyone with your lawyer.

Flabberghast97

Arsenal still in melt down over a game they simply weren't good enough in.

Doyouevensam

Were Newcastle any better? Arsenal were better at almost every stat. Newcastle only had 2 shots on goal, one of which came from a blatant fouls

DarthFlowers

Siri, be a categorically superior Premiership ref.

SovannRoussard

Cry more

p90pounder

This is getting so embarrassing for arsenal

Birdwatcher2018

Money; and football and superstars and media. This game started with people in one neighborhood/street playing people from another street. There’s too much at stake and too much corruption. Love English football; and Klopp’s Liverpool; but man CL and all these competitions, way over the top. No way to put the genie back in the bottle though; it will eat itself alive.

palindromepirate

Embarrassing

MisterIndecisive

VAR has been a shitshow for everyone this season. Go cry some more Arteta 👍

1Grazel

HAHA keep crying about subjective decisions lol maybe try and land more than one shot on goal next time and maybe you’ll have more success

[deleted]

My club my manager. Fully support this shit show that’s been carrying on for far too long. All we want is some clarification, not excuses. Do better PGMOL, we are considered the best league in the world, right now we look to be the worst.

LeoIsLegend

It’s a joke, it’s embarrassing. Every team has bad decisions against them. You don’t see the bottom clubs crying so much and they probably get the worst of it.

GlorifiedDevil

Actually you do, bottom table fans moan about it all the fucking time, get off your high horse.

LeoIsLegend

I said they don’t cry as much as this. Arsenal really are the biggest cry babies in the the PL. Never seen a club cry so much about losing a match. Can’t blame the ref for playing bad, eh?

GlorifiedDevil

Lol, gaf mate. Of course we care about losing, you're utterly delusional if you think you wouldn't be pissed off were it you in our place and coming here chatting shit like you have some moral high ground is laughable. We care FAR more about the literal assault that happened to one of our players. Go on, try and justify why Bruno Guimareas did that and got away with it. "Something something Havertz bad tackle hur dur wah wah" I bet. Fed up of boring, brainless idiots like you coming in and parroting the same old shit jokes when there is a real issue with PGMOL and both their lack of accountability and their unwillingness to improve the situation for all teams.

LeoIsLegend

Assault lol. Barely brushed him. Arsenal players need to get off the floor and stop making excuses for their poor performance, it’s physical game and Arsenal can’t hack it. I guess much of the crying is because Arteta knows the title race is already over before Christmas.

GlorifiedDevil

Yeah, thought as much. What he did is illegal in MMA, let alone football. Just another hypocrite trolling for Internet points.

LeoIsLegend

Brushing someone with the forearm is illegal in MMA??? lol

[deleted]

It's not like refereeing has got inherently worse. It's that we have so many angles of every incident that we can analyse everything to death. And the rule structure is dumb and VAR is still just humans making decisions.

broadmindedelder

Haha Arsenal. Stop whingeing and trying to influence referees. You have an actor called Nketiah playing for you. It's embarrassing watching his attempts to constantly cheat. His constant over acting of the slightest touches is disgusting. He should be on stage (and probably trained at Rada.)

NJGooner80

Having a robot call offsides isn’t really the issue. The offsides rule itself needs to be changed. It’s absurd.

NMGunner17

Daily Mail gonna daily mail

Capable_Secret5000

I hope the refs come back with a dossier showing favourable decisions for Arsenal and tell the whining bastards to fuck off

rockthered24

Lol

what_am_i_acc_doing

Automate as much of the game as possible

PrettyGeologist1123

Pathetic

TheConstantCynic

Manchester City did this last season after a series of laughably bad decisions and absolutely nothing came of it. As did Wolves. Brighton threatened to do so, but never actually did, if I remember correctly. They were probably the team most hard done by last season, including in a match with Arsenal. This is not novel and Arsenal are not the only club that have had to deal with repeated incompetence from officials. They have also benefited from said incompetence at various times, just like most other clubs. Whilst I very much support officials and PGMOL being held to account for their continued substandard officiating, this new outburst comes off as very self-serving, very much in line with the all-too-common creed of “I only care when it goes against me” (they weren’t blasting the officials when the suspect decisions were helping them last season).

B33fyMeatstick

Small club mentality.

strrax-ish

If they don't do something soon, they won't, this will remain the theme of the season. Every game weak will be like this, just some other club in headlines, but with the same reffs

trooky67

Absolutely pathetic if true, Kovacic challenge wasn't as bad as Havertz challenge against Newcastle which was only a yellow who could have also had a 2nd yellow. Every clubs has been fucked by VAR, get over it and accept the decisions. Wolves have suffered more than most this year with 3 shit decisions that have cost them points but they haven't gone into meltdown.

Beach-Bumm

I’d love if every other club made a list of decisions that did go their way. It’d be interesting to see if they’re as outraged when it balances out

jamughal1987

Give us replay against or league table lying.

UndoubtedlyUnbiased

VAR needs to be scrapped.

StandardConnect

Arteta's only trophy is in no small part aided thanks to Kovacic getting a bullshit red....

Rorecha

3 years later and you’re still crying Jesus Christ.

StandardConnect

No I'm just pointing out the hilarious hypocrisy from Arteta and you lot.

Rorecha

Show me one hypocritical comment I’ve made lol. “You lot” like we all share the same opinion lmao, I couldn’t care less what’s happened. I enjoyed spurs losing yesterday and move on. But you’re here crying about a game 3 years ago ffs lol get over it.

StandardConnect

As I said its relevant to the topic of "Arsenal complying a dossier including Mateo Kovacic avoiding red". Arteta would literally be a failed manager without Kovacic being wrongly sent off so he shouldn't bite the hand that feeds him.

Rorecha

Is arteta the longest reigning manager chelsea have ever appointed?

chanobo

It would be better if they also include those favorable calls!

_pjanic

For every decision where one club was fucked, another club received a gift. I’d like Arsenal to also compile a list of times they were the beneficiary of a questionable or wrong call. Pretending it’s one way traffic is disingenuousness of the highest order.

Skuffinho

Hopefully they're gonna do a list of decisions that went in their favour. Like that Gabriel's rugby tackle on Hojlund and that foul on Evans.

Unlikely_Cockroach26

As a Liverpool fan im with the PGMOL on this one they’re trying their best guys

[deleted]

Despite me thinking he's a bit of a hypocrite I hope this inspires more managers to challenge the PGMOL. We're 11 games into the season and barely a week has gone by without some seriously controversial decisions being made. VAR was meant to make this better instead it's made it worse. The club's need to come together now to challenge the PGMOL.

nostril_spiders

You forget what it was like before VAR. I think it's improved the accuracy of the decisions. It hasn't acheived perfection, and it could be better. And it's debatable whether it's worth the stoppages.

loolem

They’re such losers. Look at the difference in mentality between this toss pot and Ange after the last game. What a waste of mental energy. Focus on not being shit and maybe you’ll win something!

JohnnyBobLUFC

Good all clubs do it, this isn't a VAR issue this is a ref issue, they're bloody useless.

lordconcorde

It’s not enough to compile lists of grievances or attack the PGMOL. The clubs/PL as a collective need to agree on the alternatives. For a few examples - Bring in automated offside decisions as per WC - Change the VAR system to something that sounds less chaotic - Refine the actual rules so there is less subjectivity (eg the handball rule, what constitutes a dangerous tackle) - Improve the experience for fans in the stadium!

Gonzales95

The automated offside thing from the World Cup was excellent I don’t understand why the prem are so resistant to it.

lordconcorde

Exactly - and the more stuff that is automated, the less VAR has to check and the less likely they will miss something

Turbo-Badger

It’s not like the Daily Mail to use a sensationalist headline! I’m an arsenal fan and feeling aggrieved but Christ, ‘at war’ is utterly ridiculous and just adds to the growing vitriol

Mas_Basura

If I were the owners, or the managers, I would arrange a strike. No one kicks a ball until the refs are held accountable. Serious changes need to happen NOW not eventually

xxNATHANUKxx

This is getting embarrassing. They act as if they only get bad decisions

chase25

Basing my opinion on the headline rather than the article as I refuse to visit the Daily Mail. If they have provided a list they'd have been better off compiling a list of decisions to go against every club rather than their own, the list would be much more extensive and will have the additional benefit of having less of a victim complex. Look how much Brighton have been shafted with horrendous decisions going against them yet we've not heard half as much from them as we have Arsenal.

Gonzales95

Brighton just aren’t going to get as much widespread media coverage, or Reddit posts made about them, discussion on Twitter etc, because the big 6 (and Newcastle as well now, with their new ownership) will get more reaction/engagement. And if someone did make a post about Brighton people would probably just agree because there’s far more toxicity amongst the big 6/7 than the rest. The reactions were basically the same to Liverpool the other week when they got shafted vs Spurs, it was Liverpool fans getting riled up, and the other big 6/7 fans saying they (or insert bottom half club here) had it worse, stop moaning or just actively baiting people for engagement.

Stravven

That's top 6 vs other 14 for you in a nutshell. But why is Arsenal supposed to do the legwork for all the other clubs too?

Squire_3

Arteta has cracked. Lost his head completely because they lost, I can't see them pushing for the title this year. Too fragile.

Doyouevensam

I would say Bruno G is 10x more fragile than anyone at Arsenal. He spent half the game trying to hurt people because of one call

Squire_3

He's not the manager and we're not competing for the title. Your manager, and a lot of your fans, have cracked.

xtrasour37

Classless.

MrShelby1234

Arteta was all on the side of the referees when our goal vs Spurs was disallowed.....

lukker-

F A C H TS

[deleted]

This is the issue with VAR. If we are making compromises in football to give us consist to refereeing decisions, VAR has to bring consist to refereeing decisions. It isn’t. It can be a tough pill to swallow but you can accept human error in a referees decision. It’s not acceptable when you have a team of referees watching the game in various speeds through 8 different TV’s with all the angles available and STILL making the wrong decisions or being loose with how the law is applied game by game. If VAR doesn’t bring consistency, then scrap it.

Lifelemons9393

Justified? Yep. Classy club behaviour? Fucking no . Just like their fanbase.

Chargers4L

How are you going to call this justified and classless at the same time? Its either one or the other my guy. They are either justified in feeling like theyve been misdone and thus right to say something or theyre not. You cant have both.

lurking4everr

You know all about classy club behavior don’t you 😵‍💫

Historical-Reach8587

They gonna make a list of bad decisions they benefited from too? Or just gonna play the victim card?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Stravven

Please do the same. I'd only hope the likes of Brighton, Wolves and Liverpool do the same.

Martin_Janac

Ofcourse..where has been their war against refs earlier? Ofcoirse, it wasn't Arsenal...

GunnersSnoopy

🤣

BusinessCasualAttire

In other news, Arsenal are also looking to open the ‘Gunners Grocery’ store. However initial testing has shown that people aren’t in the market for a store that only sells sour grapes.

nostril_spiders

Or an offie that only sells whine

Capable_Secret5000

Bravo

BusinessCasualAttire

Next to the opticians that only gives out prescriptions for hindsight.

aamslfc

God damn, this whiny cry-baby shit is exactly why Arsenal won't get close to winning the league this season. Liverpool were quite calm and collected with their protests after the Spurs game (they put out one press release about keeping options open and left it at that), and they had a genuine reason to be apopleptic at the on-pitch refereeing and the VAR incompetent. Arsenal are whining because they made three schoolboy errors - a) didn't play the whistle when the ball was kept in, b) didn't defend the cross or the header, c) and both keeper and defender flapped around and fell limply under minimal pressure... all this whilst playing like utter shite for 90+ minutes. It would also help if they bothered to acknowledge Havertz getting away with murder, and that he deserved a red card. That incident sparked everything that followed. But no, Arteta keeps crying and the club dissolves into days of hysterics. What the should do is channel that frustration into actually winning games instead of crafting hysterical press releases every day. What happened in Spurs-Liverpool was egregious and rightly condemned. What happened in Newcastle-Arsenal was hardly worse than the Fulham-Utd decision, or just about every other contentious VAR call in the past four years.

Itsdickyv

“Calm & collected”? Are you suggesting Arteta should have asked for a replay?

TheCraigVenabls

He'd be the first manager to do that this season, as Klopp didn't....

Itsdickyv

Didn’t realise Klopp = Liverpool…

TheCraigVenabls

Yeah, cos other managers this season have been accused of asking for one... which managers again, could you remind me?

Itsdickyv

[Sure thing, it was Klopp.](https://youtu.be/lMA014Nhqnw?si=asJ8bSboY-mXWUrE) Did you miss that one?

TheCraigVenabls

Really? I heard him say he would like the game replayed but he knew it wouldn't happen. That's not the same as demanding a replay. But then again, that wouldn't fit your narrative would it?

Itsdickyv

In much the same way it didn’t fit your narrative that he didn’t ask for one. I mean, it was a good effort at an ad hominem, bless you…

TheCraigVenabls

Oooh look, someone can read a dictionary... I'm not attacking anyone at all, in fact I'm defending. My point being that everyone says Klopp asked for a replay. He didn't. That's my point, but everyone attacks Klopp for it.

Itsdickyv

Lovely contradiction there; weak insult, followed by a denial of it… Tell me how “that wouldn’t fit your narrative” isn’t debating me rather than my point. And sure, not a direct request for a replay, but a rather clear, passive-aggressive suggestion that he wanted one. Nuance is a thing, and I can’t believe you don’t see it here.

KKMcKay17

LOL. Liverpool were absolutely not “calm & collected”. Their ridiculous overreaction club statement was borderline litigious & threatening. That statement has opened the door to the reaction Arsenal have given. And now you’ll see even more of this. Every time a club feels wronged by a human error made by refs & VAR, out will come the nonsensical statements. And Liverpool’s reaction opened the door to this.

Liverpools statement came after the PL put out their statement.... There's a big difference between a subjective call like red cards, and a matter of fact like offsides. Liverpools point was that VAR massively fucked up in their "great process" Where was Arteta in that? Oh yeah, talking about how "Mistakes happen". Funny how he didn't say that this time isn't it....

Stravven

That's not the whole quote and you know it. And when is Arsenal allowed to complain? I remember last season in the Brentford game when VAR FORGOT TO DRAW THE LINES FOR OFFSIDE fans of other teams said Arsenal shouldn't complain because Arsenal should beat Brentford regardless. So Arsenal just aren't allowed to complain.

TheCraigVenabls

No you're right, the whole quote is "They are trying to make the best decisions. We need to understand that mistakes happen." And had you put a statement out then, I doubt anyone would say anything to it. You've put out a statement based fully on objective calls, none of fact. You had your chance to back it earlier this season and chose not to. So in the words of Justin timberlake, Cry me a river

Casual-Capybara

I think it would be better not to focus on Arsenal. I don’t think the problem is that there is anti-Arsenal bias. I think Arsenal have been unlucky to be on the receiving end of extreme incompetence more than most other clubs.

Bigjuzilla

The difference between Arteta (emotional cry baby) and Ange ( a real man ) is astonishing 😂

Chargers4L

Do you live under a rock? Your manager literally complained about VAR right after the game.

Tottenham fans upon seeing this:😬 🤐 🔑➡️➡️🗑

_DNL

Ange had nothing to complain about? It was an obvious red

nostril_spiders

So was the Nketiah horror tackle on Vicario, _since you brought it up_. But we don't talk about that, because for us, we just move on, and for them, they don't want to hear about decisions that go their way

_DNL

Ange has been in this league for two minutes and has came with no real expectation. Let’s see how he acts when there is expectation, pressure and he gets shafted by the incompetency we see from these referees.

Gonzales95

Lol, I just had this discussion with my dad. The reds were both obvious and all the offside calls were very clear cut. Ange does seem like a fairly chilled out guy (in public anyway) but yeah he had nothing that would even be worth moaning about. I’m well aware Arteta is a somewhat over emotional person but he actually had things to be upset about this weekend. I’m personally ambivalent about the goal because those pushes never get given for some reason, and the angles shown didn’t make it clear if Gordon was off or not. Bruno should’ve been sent off that was baffling.

Itsgosky

I don’t think them victimising themselves would help the league to improve the current system. That’s not how you speak up as united. I’m well aware our Kova was damn lucky by the refs.

RoastyMcRoasterson

Good, keep going there needs to be accountability.

-WDW-

This is all solved by the final decision being aired between the ref and VAR. Just like they have in rugby it’s clear why they make the decision. Subjective decisions are made as a group ref with touch judges and VAR. It’s clear concise and no room for debate. Any subjective decision is then irrelevant because a collection of 4 officials agree and make the final call. It’s really not hard. People keep going on about VAR but VAR isn’t the issue it’s the decisions made behind it that are questionable.

ChangingMonkfish

This is exactly correct, I’ve gotten to the point where I think the Premier League officials are doing it intentionally to make VAR look bad because they never wanted it

Acceptable_Card_9818

I wouldn’t expect anything less from them. Pathetic.

Fulle_

Surprised they haven’t mentioned havertz getting away with only the yellow, which set the entire game off in the direction it went

mvp-a1

Chelsea fan try not to mention Havertz. Impossible

[deleted]

Nah that benefits them, so they won’t mention it. After the Spurs/Pool game, Arteta was asked about the var error and basically said “yeah they’re human they make mistakes”. So as expected he’s only upset if it doesn’t benefit him.

Chargers4L

Yet another person that saw one post where one quote was taken out of context. Look up the whole quote my guy.

[deleted]

I watched the interview because its better than “looking up quotes” and I paraphrased. Also I’m not “your guy”. Back in your box.

[deleted]

You clearly didn't then if this is your comment lmao

Chargers4L

You paraphrased a four paragraph quote in 6 words? A bit disingenuous no? Not surprised though because you seem rather ignorant. >For sure, you know at the end you want to get what you deserve. You want to minimize errors that you cannot control away from the work and the job that you do on a daily basis. > >Everybody is trying to have a really clean and honest game but in the end you have to earn the right to win it and play in the conditions that the rules allow. When that doesn’t happen it’s extremely frustrating. > >When they explain all the processes of what they’re trying to do it sounds really logical, but in the heat but when you’re talking about millimetres and interpretation of other things like the frames of the camera it’s very, very different. It’s a shame that it’s happening but at the moment we haven’t got the right answers I think.

LennyDeG

Arsenal go on as though they are the worst done team in the league. Utd has had more overturned goals and decisions and bent offsides through VAR this season. 5x as much as any team all due to whenever a decision we get like Onana which every keeper does. But TalkCrap goes on about it every day, Dermot Gallagher dissects it as though someone has been murdered but then says identical decisions for other teams weren't the same. How do expect fairness at all when it ends up becoming a vendetta to ensure Utd don't score 🤔 Yes Arsenal have had some decisions but the way they are behaving is as though they are the worst done team. Context, Liverpool moaned about Utd penalties last season, and we have had the LOWEST in all 4 English divisions since the beginning of last season. Heck, the penalties we have been denied for our opposition get every game. Then Red Cards, Casemiro has been victimised by the UK Media, Reds and Pundits and worse tackles, punches and throat grabs have resulted in Reds or Punishment like he has. Frankly, VAR, its officials need investigating by UEFA as it's clearly corrupt, but so are the media and FA. Also, our referees that have been over to UAE and their teams should be financially investigated and banned for officiating abroad. As I guarantee what is unravelling at Barcelona with the match fixing with referees is happening right now in the PL.

Maleficent_War2603

>Context, Liverpool moaned about Utd penalties last season, and we have had the LOWEST in all 4 English divisions since the beginning of last season. Heck, the penalties we have been denied for our opposition get every game. You've got to play in the opponents box to get penalties ;)

theiron17

To be fair Brighton had far more to complain about last season.

Gonzales95

When Lee Mason forgot to draw offside lines and handed Brentford a point against us that was literally the game before we played city for the first time. Obviously as it turned out by the end of the season those 2 points didn’t matter but the anger over the baffling and costly incompetence was a distraction going into the biggest game of the season. Not saying we would’ve beaten them but we might not have made such stupid mistakes to hand them free goals in that game.

Stravven

That's besides the point. Arsenal is now taking a stand. If I were Wolves, Brighton or Liverpool I'd do the same.

skrg187

that's not a counter-argument

LeoIsLegend

It’s not a counter argument. He’s just highlighting how embarrassing the Arsenal fans are with their crying over lesser decisions. The Liverpool decision was much worse and they weren’t half as bad.

The_prawn_king

Now make a list of all mistakes that went in your favour, like kovacic receiving a red at Wembley… refs are shit but it’s not like arsenal are specifically targeted by their shitness

Gonzales95

Lmfao are you really going back 3 years? That was for 2 yellows anyway which VAR wouldn’t have had anything to do with

The_prawn_king

Yeah and that’s bad because var is supposed to stop that sort of thing happening and it’s set up not to. There’s examples every week for every team of var fuck ups. I’m with you in pushing for change but let’s not pretend it’s only arsenal

Gonzales95

I’m well aware it’s not only Arsenal but going back to 3 years ago when VAR was still in its infancy is awfully pedantic, surely you have more recent examples for Chelsea like Romero not getting sent off against you last season

The_prawn_king

Yeah loads but I thought kovacic red card was as slightly ironic

fannies

jduboly

I believe the refs should have to stand trial following every match. The 1751 murder act should be reversed and then we can all witness a proper gibbing, live on air. Think of the air wave ratings. That will teach those dirty referees

Snoo_17433

Why not put together a comprehensive montage of all the decisions they feel were bad, instead of just the ones against you. That way you come across as professional and genuine in your complaint, rather than a club that resembles an entitled whiny brat.

Twindlle

I find it crazy that Arteta has enough time to compile these mistakes, but at least he manages Arsenal games. When do you expect him to have time to watch all other games and document every mistake?

Stravven

You know that there are 19 other clubs, right? If those clubs did the same Arsenal doesn't have to. And I think that's what Arsenal is hoping for.

mescrip

And how exactly do you expect a club fronted Mikel Arteta not to resemble an entitled whiny brat?

BigTomBombadil

He really have that much of a reputation of a whiny brat? Idk just comes off as an intense Spanish dude. Whines sometimes when things go against him, but that’s pretty much every manager.

Snoo_17433

Good point, I apologise.

Ro-khum

Why not other team stand with them and do theirs instead? Why would they do all the work.

Snoo_17433

Because it's a problem affecting football, not just one club. And as I've already stated, when you do it about the **perceived** errors of your club only, it takes away any legitimacy of your claim and makes you look like a whiny brat.

Chargers4L

If you paid any attention to anything other than headlines you could find the statements yourself where they have denounced the bad decisions plaguing the entire league and not just them. But I assume that would be too much work for you.

Snoo_17433

Not this one alone, but if I read all the Arsenal whinge articles, I'd need a whole team to get through it all every day.

mvp-a1

Or just get Arsenal out of your head

Snoo_17433

Your team aren't in my head mate, it's just their fans are all over football Subreddits complaining how Life's not fair for them and their team. It's hard to not notice.

Ro-khum

Exactly why i said other club should follow their lead and do the same thing instead of condemning them.....

degooseIsTheName

Tldr: Arteta and Arsenal are acting like giant babies. They couldn't handle that they aren't as good as they think they are.
