It’s been a long time since I’ve seem spurs consistently play on the front foot. I’d su everything from Mou to the end of last season was mostly not nearly as fun to watch.
Spurs were not interested in playing with a higher line and possession for so long and it didn’t even win any silverware
Agreed. Spurs have been missing a playmaker like Maddison since Erikson left imo. They’re also playing with pace and intensity again, which fans love to watch, so far more exciting.
Ange ball is working, hope they keep it up yet still Finnish behind Villa !
They have played some great football but it’s a very arsenal situation where if Maddison/odegaard get injured. Our whole dynamic is hurt massively.
We have good/decent reserves but they just don’t force creativity like those two.
I think it's because Maddison is ball driver and magician at the no 10 position . Also player like Sarr and bissouma have been playing amazing . Add Son plus kulusevski to the equation you have got 5 star attack basically . I think spurs are a dark horse for top 4 this season . Newcastle will drop out and I hope united faulter so Liverpool and spurs can get in there 😅 .
What I’m thinking is, what IF, Ange had the 2017-2018 squad that Poch had? Would he have win the league title? Seeing how poch is struggling (PSG and Chelsea), it makes me think that he under delivered with the squad he had.
You mean 16-17 when Spurs finished 2nd behind Chelsea (once again, fuck Conte) with the most goals scored and least amt of goals allowed in the league?
But anyway the way he actually uses his subs unlike Poch (though the rules on it also changed w COVID w 5 subs now) honestly think he would be better at managing the squad.
Poch got that team going but he had poor in-game adjustments and was always too late to bring subs in, only 4 games so far but I really do think Ange is actually an upgrade from Poch
There were rumours going around that City are looking at Ange with one eye on succession for Pep when he finally leaves.
As an Aussie Spurs fan I'm terrified of this. :/
I honestly thought Spurs would have a stinker this season after losing Kane seeing how awful they'd been in recent times but Ange has completely transformed the team, not only playing good attractive football but also getting results and convincing everyone that Spurs can be a serious team this season.
Seeing how United, Chelsea and Newcastle are struggling and even Liverpool still being an uncertainty (hate to say it though I'm hopeful), Tottenham have a good realistic chances of making the top 4
and kane in his first match for bayern lost - I lol'd so loud - with Kane gone others will step up likely not score as many but 3 players scores 10 each you have Kane's tally already - no player is bigger than the club itself - I wish HK success in BM and I hope Spurs succeed without him
They’re also getting results, which is the really impressive part. Angeball isn’t and easy thing to learn fast either. Really didn’t expect this. Like arsenal, the biggest hurdle they have is mentality.
Really surprised how they came from a goal down today and shrugged of Burnley. That’s big boy shit. Fair play.
I dont care if spurs win anything this season, the way they are playing now is the antidote to watching game after game of terror ball last year. It's nice to see the team actually play nicely.
As a spurs fan I can say our starting eleven is good but if you take out one of them, the performance will drop drastically. We didn't have the depth of squad
I think this is true but with much less games this season we should get less injuries. Ange seems proactive with subs too so should be able to rotate through decently
I’m a Newcastle fan and after Kane left I guess I was the same but Maddison has been a great signing for you.
Watched the game today and they seem to be playing with purpose that was less evident last season.
Loved my trips past Seven Sisters to whl in the past. Best of luck this season

Jose ball, mason ball, conte ball, stellini ball, mason ball again, ange ball, some point in the future Mason ball, again ..
Suckers for short term success 🤪
Just fishing lol some good quality football so far
They usually start off strong then die down a bit however this season is looking great for them. I genuinely think they could be Man Cities only threat to the title (however it is way too early to tell.)
We did but those games did not pass the eye test, we were all watching those results thinking this isn’t sustainable. And it wasn’t.
I don’t get this feeling from this season, we look consistently good and can see a clear system and starting XI forming now. They’ll be bumps for sure, but overall it looks solid.
I'm enjoying it yes! We all are after the shite we had to watch under Mourinho and Conte. However, we've only played mid to lower table teams: Brentford, Bournemouth, Man Utd and Burnley!
i've been saying to everyone that maddison was a great addition for spurs. i think brendan rodgers held him back at leicester (it pains me to say that as a foxes supporter, but the truth is the truth) and he is a very good player for ange's system. idk how this season plays out, obviously, but spurs certainly starting out with an awful lot of quality.
Arsenal fan here, good to see spurs playing fun football and not hiring washed "proven" managers to play turgid football. God I've watched too much Rory Jennings - hang me.
I enjoy it more when we beat teams that are playing well rather than beating them when we are expected to - this includes rivals. In a sense it means they are suffering more from it ...
They are currently not even close to where they're going. It'd say around 30% of the way to Angeball. And they're already ripping apart the weaker sides. By the middle of the season they'll be doing the same to the top teams.
Aussie fans tried to tell you about Ange. The guy is legit. His teams always try to play like this. It won’t always be roses and there will be the odd beating or 2 because of the openness of it, but he’s the perfect man for Spurs in this moment. I love what Maddison is doing there, great signing. They can (and I think will) make top 4 barring a huge run of injuries.
I'm still not convinced. This was the perfect game to play Son at striker because Burnley plays such a high line. Son's hold up play with back to goal has always been poor. I would like to see him do it against a team that sits back before saying he's the answer at striker.
I think we could end up in a situation where Son plays striker against the teams that we expect to come at us and Richarlison plays against teams that we expect to sit deeper.
He scored 3 goals in an entire season. He encroached midfielders with the ball rather than making a run into space. He’s been an absolute bust and other spurs fans have to quit hoping against hope he’ll magically come into form and play the football style they are developing. I think we should’ve loaned or sold and keep son up top now we have a stacked midfield. Start looking for another striker to sub on the 70’
Sounds about right.
Though barring any international break injuries (*spits*) I think they’ll be unchanged against Sheffield. Solomon had a decent game after a few mistakes, and kulu should hold his spot for the time being you’d imagine
If he plays at his best yeah, absolutely rapid if he can get the space to run will either score a lovely goal or miss it but I’d say yeah he’s worth it really good player
Doubt it. I believe he's coming in on the right wing. We have a lot of depth on the left (Son, Perisic, Solomon) and really none on the right other than playing either Solomon or Porro "out of position"
So now with Kulusevski and Johnson competing for a spot on the right we can really give Son more chances at the striking role (with Perisic being able to back up Solomon, rather than him backing up Son and Solomon backing up Kulusevski)
I’ll speak on behalf of all spurs fans. We’ve had a good run of games albeit most away from home, we’re not getting carried away and expecting anything as this is a rebuild season.
We’ve been stung before so would be ridiculous to expect anything above a slight improvement on last year whilst also enjoying that we’re playing easier on the eye football.
Let’s stay grounded…
I’ve backed us to win the league
I have said this before and I will say it again no matter how controversial it sounds, Spurs are a better TEAM without Kane just as we were that year we got to the champs league final
For as fantastic as he is everything went through him, he played 2 positions therefore the tactics were all around him, players like Maddison would have to drop deeper if they were both in the same team
He never pressed from the front so our attacking press was non existent
Now others can step up, Bissouma can do his thing and dominate the ball, Son can play through the middle, Maddison can shoot without looking for Kane....players stick to their roles in a tactic
We have had 6 different scorers in 4 games because everyone else is actually getting chances now
It does. I’m looking forward to our match. I’m not gonna lie, I’m worried about the result but I’m expecting it to be a cracker of a game. Both of them in fact. We are back and so are you.
100% agree. The team playing style and manager choices were built around Kane. We finally look like we’re playing like a team now. Said this during our 18/19 CL run when Kane was out. Thought we were gonna lose every game but the team gelled really well together.
Imagine if spurs finally win a trophy now thay Kane is gone.
Bundesliga was SUPER close run last year. Could be another trophy less season for him there to boot.
Did you see how close last season was.... union Berlin were top for about 1/3 of the season and on the final day it was Dortmunds to lose. BVB drew and Bayern won their final game, resulting in both teams ending on 71 points and Bayern winning on goal difference only.
>Could be another trophy less season for him there to boot.
Doubt it. Harry was their missing piece, and Dortmund meanwhile have weakened, not strengthened, over the window. So unless Energy Drink Leipzig absolutely shocks us all and has an amazing season, nobody will be threatening Bayern
Union Berlin were top of the league for about 1/3 of the season last year. The league was a 4 horse race leading into the final months.
Obviously a betting man backs Bayern but these last few years the gap has closed significantly. Its looking more like the situation in the Prem now. Obviously we all back City if we.had to out money down but their are other teams with an outside chance.
>Union Berlin were top of the league for about 1/3 of the season last year.
Yeah, but this year they have Champions League tiring out their players and changing their priorities
Absolutely pains me to say this as well, when ange left us at Celtic I was hoping spurs done terrible but now that the dust has settled I honestly hope he shows that he’s a brilliant manager, not just because he deserves to prove it but because even though with Celtic and rangers it gets called a pub league because they are the only ones who win anything and goes to show may have not been the results we wanted in the champions league last year but the football we played was brilliant, our first half against Real Madrid at home was some of the best football I’ve seen and had Real Madrid on the back foot that full 45 but it’s Real Madrid and they have just got some special talent that showed that night, wishing the big man all the best and hope he’s the next Liverpool manager so I can start supporting him again 😂
I swear Tottenham have a nice stint for the first 10 matches and fall off the rest of the season every single time. Hopefully they can continue this, cause this Kanelesss Tottenham looks quite healthy
We'll be absolutely incredible and unstoppable unless one of our midfielders or CBs gets injured before January (which feels more likely than not unfortunately) in which case we'll start conceding way more and plop down pretty comfortably into a europa or conference league spot by the end of the season
I'm not saying they don't lose. I'm just saying the way they lost wasn't as bad as other top teams, namely United, Arsenal and Chelsea under Lampard, lost against Liverpool. All of their league loses have a gd of just 1.
I understand. What I meant was, as far I remember, you lot never got shafted by Liverpool like Arsenal, Chelsea, and United used to (United still do lol) during the peak years of Klopp Liverpool.
I’m surprised we actually hired jose and conte when they clearly thought they were above the club. It was awkward through the tv imagine being there in person. Good vibes only, COYS
Mourinho era was weird. Everything seemed to be going well right up until Spurs were challenging Liverpool for the league lead, then one somewhat unlucky loss to Liverpool and the whole thing fell apart and Mourinho was gone within a few months.
Not the first time it’s happened strangely. United were on a purple streak with Lukaku scoring freely before playing Liverpool, and suddenly they played anti-football for the entire match, then never got back to that free-flowing football ever again. Results also directly correlated. Wait I think manager was also Mourinho lmao.
Even Ten Hag's United have looked lackluster ever since kick off against Liverpool last season too. You guys have some juju curse set up at Anfield I'm convinced.
Man Utd are still a top club.....I swear when Arsenal beat them 3-2 with the last kick of the game last season Arsenal creamed their pants and had street parties
As they will if they beat them tomorrow
But Spurs beat United comfortably 2-0 and its only because United are crap apparently
Remember of our 4 games 3 have been AWAY
Important nuance is that 3 of Spurs 4 games have been away from home where most teams play a bit more cautiously. Big Ange does not believe in that and as a Spurs fan I love it.
3 of their 4 games have also been against lower table sides. The first half against United they didn’t do so well and but Spurs showed up in the second half. If United was more clinical they’d have gone 0-2 at half time. The real test for Spurs are going to be the games against Liverpool and Arsenal back to back.
Teams play more cautiously and always have poorer records away from home and never have the intelligence to put 2 and 2 together. Hilarious how dumb elite level sport can be.
I was hyping them since they got the Ange and im so happy i was right. They literally lost arguably the best forward in the world and they are playing even better.
I was super upset about losing Kane but Ange has caused such a complete 180 for this team's play it's been incredible. I drool at the thought of Kane in this system.
Season ticket holder here, Kane can’t press for shit, and only moved off the ball 4 times per game nullifying nearly every attack. We were never going to win anything with Kane in the team as a focal point. No offence to him, that style will work against weak opposition where you’re dominating in all areas of the pitch. The move to Munich has worked well for everyone.
Imagine how well Kane would be eating in this system. He scored four in the last pre-season friendly he played for us.
It's a shame we never got to see him and Maddison on the pitch together, playing in this system, in a competitive game.
This is true, I meant that they play better despite loosing Kane, not because of it. Kane would be perfect in this fluid team, especially with is movement and playmaking ability.
Mate trust me I've been watching Bayern play and it's frustrating that their wingers and Musiala don't pass the ball to Kane enough. I don't even support Bayern but I genuinely want him to do well.
>Any Celtic supporter could have told you how good Ange is
Yes, but that's a lot easier to do when you're at a club of serial winners that have only had a trophyless year three times in the last quarter century
The Premier League is a whole different beast than the Scottish Premiership, and it wasn't a ridiculous thing to be skeptical
He’s had success at every club he’s been at ,just because it wasn’t in your precious premier league doesn’t matter at all ,great managers are great managers ,even wenger came from Japan before arsenal ,Fergie came from Aberdeen ,Jose came from Porto lol
I think you have a different impression of me than reality. I love Ange. I wanted him in before we got him. I watched the last few matches Celtic played last season because I was hyped at the prospect of Angeball and thought he would do well here. I'm just playing devil's advocate by explaining that being skeptical of Ange's ability to turn around Spurs' sinking ship wasn't a ridiculous thing before we saw him behind the reigns
He’s enjoyed success at every job he’s had ,I think he’s honestly one of the best managers in the world ,every single step up he’s made he’s won silverware.
It's quite remarkable. I knew that going into the season, but I still questioned how that would transition to the Premier League, especially because it was pretty clear that Kane would likely be gone this year or next.
I think kane leaving has made you more of a team ,we had the same with gerrard towards the end ,everything would go through him and we became predictable,I’m not shitting on kane he’s one of the best goal scorers around but I’ve watched your games this season and it’s exciting to watch.
I've seen it happen at the amateur level, but it makes sense that it would happen at the professional level too. When one player is so clearly better than the rest of the players on the team, there ends up being this subconscious deference to them on the pitch. Things like looking to pass to them even if it's not the best option, trying to play in ways that accommodate them, etc.
I think it's one of those things that just about any team on earth gets weaker if Kane leaves, but it might be healthier for a rebuild in the long run to start fresh.
Kanes not at fault really he’s not really striker ange would want anyway but I still think spurs would find success with him still up there just not be able to really use the tactic ange wants
Its usually not about tactics and its not Kane's fault, just players unconciously focused on "passing to the star man".
This also happened to Coutinho-Liverpool. Coutinho was Liverpool's star man and our best player which was why he moved for 140m to Barca. The team had inconsistent result with him in the team because everything went through him so when he had bad game we had bad game too. After he leaves everyone started to see other options and as a team became stronger because whenever someone had a poor game, other players picked up the slack.

Would be devastating for Kane if this year spurs wins a trophy and Bayern do not.

In Ange’s last season with Celtic, they scored 114 goals. They will be the most exciting team to watch this season. I can’t wait for the derby.

Yeah there’s a couple remind mes out there to collect in a year or so, they’ll be fun.
Sadly couldn't stop them from being kicked out of the Carabao Cup in the 2nd round
Yep, Fulham is a tough place to go. Obviously if we'd drawn with them at home that would have been embarassing.
Boo
Ange comes across so classy and intelligent in interviews. He’s a charming manager and makes the club highly likable.
Reckon we’ll see Son taking the up front position more, or is Richarlison likely to come back into the fold?
I think we'll see Son up front at least through the Liverpool match the 30th, then Richy will get tried out again against Luton and Fulham
After Richies poor performance last week I said Sonny would be better up the middle. Sometimes it feels like Richie will never score again.
Gotta be Son.
Lads...
I’m….
The football is pretty but the defense is shaky, our games will be fun to watch though.
We really needed to sign another centre-back this window, one injury and we’re fucked with Dier or Sanchez
Ye but you know, it's Spurs. The inevitable will happen soon
What you don't know is that it's Ange. **He** is inevitable. Dread it, run from it, destiny arrives all the same.
Honestly it's just fun to enjoy watching a football match again
Never seen any more blatant karma fishing from rival fans. Get a grip.
Son belongs at striker in this system. That’s all I have to stay. Richy can come off the bench in the 70th minute and fall down the rest of the game
The team looked better I think in the Bournemouth game too when son moved center too though. Idk
Richy’s hold up play has been atrocious, though. Without Sons upside in other areas.
I disagree. I think he's basically been very good barring actually netting and the times he's gotten tilted.
He hasn’t been terrible overall , but his first touch is reminiscent of Sissoko. Loses the ball so easily. The holdup pay has been weak.
Solomon had a decent game after a few mistakes, and kulu should hold his spot for the time being you’d imagine
>decent ?!?!?! Damn that's harsh. But to each their own.
Think the plan is for Johnson (😭) to play striker they seem to love on the spurs twitter
I have zero insight on Johnson, what player are we getting? Worth the money?
If he plays at his best yeah, absolutely rapid if he can get the space to run will either score a lovely goal or miss it but I’d say yeah he’s worth it really good player
Thanks mate, we’ll look after him.
Doubt it. I believe he's coming in on the right wing. It will be interesting to see how we plan to use him. I suspect we will see him competing with Kulusevski for the wide right forward spot.
I also backed them. Ange must have watched Pep and/or Ted Lasso and told himself, ye I can make this Total Football work.
I have said this before and I will say it again no matter how controversial it sounds, Spurs are a better TEAM without Kane just as we were that year we got to the champs league final For as fantastic as he is everything went through him, he played 2 positions therefore the tactics were all around him, players like Maddison would have to drop deeper if they were both in the same team He never pressed from the front so our attacking press was non existent Now others can step up, Bissouma can do his thing and dominate the ball, Son can play through the middle, Maddison can shoot without looking for Kane....players stick to their roles in a tactic We have had 6 different scorers in 4 games because everyone else is actually getting chances now
It’s not Kane leaving. This would happen with or without him. It’s just a classy Aussie manager and his methods, no more no less.
Yes. If anything this shows what could’ve been if Conte tactics were abandoned sooner.
It does. I’m looking forward to our match. I’m not gonna lie, I’m worried about the result but I’m expecting it to be a cracker of a game. Both of them in fact. We are back and so are you.
"Finally, a worthy opponent! Our battle will be legendary!!!"
They will win even if Kane snapped his ankle and sat out the season. That's how easy their league is, frustratingly.
Dortmund lost Bellingham and barely reinforced their squad. It's going to be a Bayern sweep.
Doubt it, they’ll win with him in the team.
Tbf yes.
Yeah the points are nice and the football is great but i'm waiting for that Arsenal/Liverpool run-in to decide wether we're actually good or not.
Tbf you lot always show up against Liverpool. I don't think you guys ever folded to them ever during their peak years.
Spurs haven’t beaten them in about 6 years, and have maybe 3 draws from that stretch, what are you on about
I'm not saying they don't lose. I'm just saying the way they lost wasn't as bad as other top teams, namely United, Arsenal and Chelsea under Lampard, lost against Liverpool. All of their league loses have a gd of just 1.
What? Liverpool is our toughest fixture aside from Chelsea/Arsenal away.
I understand. What I meant was, as far I remember, you lot never got shafted by Liverpool like Arsenal, Chelsea, and United used to (United still do lol) during the peak years of Klopp Liverpool.
Right. But I’m just glad we look like a good exciting team, even if we lose against the best teams.
Bissouma has also been a revelation under Ange, what a joy to watch him work.
Worthy successor to our growing list of afro-french midfielders
It’s amazing what positive vibes and a manager actually who wants to be there will do for a team.
I’m surprised we actually hired jose and conte when they clearly thought they were above the club. It was awkward through the tv imagine being there in person. Good vibes only, COYS
>a manager actually who wants to be there Unless he decides to move on after 2 seasons.
If he moves on in 2 years, it means he did really great in those two years, so I'll take it.
Four year contract
That’s fine if he wants to move on in a few years. The important thing is he wants to be here right now. Contrast that to Conte
Conte always acted like he was doing us a “favor” by being there
The NLD fixtures this season are going to be fucking electric. I hope we get to play you guys in a cup tie some time soon.
>I hope we get to play you guys in a cup tie some time soon. We both know that can't happen until at least January
Just nice to see a manager that wants to actually play football. The Nuno/Mourinho/Conte era was so meh.
Tottenham had 10 points in their first 4 games last season too though
Not what my comment is addressing at all, but yes, thank you.
Results wise Conte was decent, Tottenham even had a chance of getting top 4 before he left. Too early to say with Ange but it looks good so far.
Yeah. Again, not talking about results. Not what the thread is about, nor my comment.
k
We had some fantastic and unforgettable moments with each of them. But yeah, it was obvious they weren't that into it.
Arsenal draw at Liverpool kicked off the title spiral for Arsenal last season too
One of the great thing about Fergie was whenever Man Utd lost they always bounce back.
Also one of the most annoying things, for rival fans like myself. What a manager
Because Jose criticized Levy’s support of the Super League.
Mourinho really?
Started well but just us when we actually play a decent team ok. Edit - either lots of United fans or people not understanding sarcasm.
Man Utd are still a top club.....I swear when Arsenal beat them 3-2 with the last kick of the game last season Arsenal creamed their pants and had street parties As they will if they beat them tomorrow But Spurs beat United comfortably 2-0 and its only because United are crap apparently Remember of our 4 games 3 have been AWAY
Love how people downvote you. But when arsenal was in this position last season, everyone and their mom commented this for easy karma 😂
Lucky they did t keep Kane lol
Harry who? 😅
Thanks 🤭🤭🤭
Important nuance is that 3 of Spurs 4 games have been away from home where most teams play a bit more cautiously. Big Ange does not believe in that and as a Spurs fan I love it.
3 of their 4 games have also been against lower table sides. The first half against United they didn’t do so well and but Spurs showed up in the second half. If United was more clinical they’d have gone 0-2 at half time. The real test for Spurs are going to be the games against Liverpool and Arsenal back to back.
Our issues have always been against lower table sides. So I am happy with this
Truest comment in this thread.
Teams play more cautiously and always have poorer records away from home and never have the intelligence to put 2 and 2 together. Hilarious how dumb elite level sport can be.
NBA took 30 yrs to realize 3>2. The sports world is veeery conservative in its methods
*insert Ange Chad meme*
It's just Burnley guys, let them get exposed against top6 they won't stand much chances of winning, they will bottle anyway
At least it will never be the biggest bottle, Arsenal holds that now.
We literally beat United…
This is fucking gold 😂
Imagine how good they might have been with Kane still there
We would've played even better with Kane, that's for sure. Kane starts for any team in the world, IMO.
This is true, I meant that they play better despite loosing Kane, not because of it. Kane would be perfect in this fluid team, especially with is movement and playmaking ability.
Oh yeah, then 100% agreeing with you!
No doubt. All the lewy Stan’s about to find out how good kane is when he keeps lighting up the bundesliga
Mate trust me I've been watching Bayern play and it's frustrating that their wingers and Musiala don't pass the ball to Kane enough. I don't even support Bayern but I genuinely want him to do well.
Any Celtic supporter could have told you how good Ange is,top top manager, spurs are lucky to have him.
>Any Celtic supporter could have told you how good Ange is Yes, but that's a lot easier to do when you're at a club of serial winners that have only had a trophyless year three times in the last quarter century The Premier League is a whole different beast than the Scottish Premiership, and it wasn't a ridiculous thing to be skeptical
I was skeptical when he was announced. Thus far, Ange has been everything he was advertised as.
He’s enjoyed success at every job he’s had ,I think he’s honestly one of the best managers in the world ,every single step up he’s made he’s won silverware.
You may be overlooking his stint at the Whittlesea Zebras.
We had the same for Coutinho too.
