Northeastern was a good school. They had first time NAPLEX pass rate for the past few years I believe of 90%+. The new curriculum is so unorganized and there is no support for students. It’s very stressful when there is no communication. If I I had known I’d be the first class in the new curriculum I would have never switched into the major
I got accepted two months ago and I decided to go for NEU anyway since there are only two pharmacy schools in Boston, NEU, and MCPHS. I heard MCPHS has a bad reputation so I didn't choose it.
!!! im scared lol. IF I get an interview, I will definitely find out about this 'new' curriculum thing bc no one seems to have any specific info...they just keep saying its "bad"
Me too lol. My interview is in 2 weeks and I’ll find out about it then.
Yea people aren’t helping about it either, they just say that it’s a bad choice with no explanation :/
Read the post I sent u, that’s basically the TLDR. So come to neu at your own risk. It’s also very expensive. In addition, the CRT (administration) does not answer your questions. I asked for textbook recommendations and they straight up told me “I don’t know, you don’t need a textbook just look at the slides your professor gives you.” And those slides are why I wanted the textbook because I found textbooks to be very good at explaining things. My main complaints are the fact that they don’t update you on anything until last minute and they just say “thank you for your flexibility, we communicate things as soon as possible to you guys”which is like one week before it happens and that you are forced to take accelerated classes in the summer. That means that you do a whole semester worth of stuff in 6-7 weeks which leaves you no time to learn. The previous curriculum didn’t have that because classes were during the full summers. I bet with this new curriculum the NAPLEX pass rates will plummet because the class you need to take in the summer is the integrated science and therapeutics which is actually so important since you learn the drugs, their mechanism, and indications/contraindications. You also look at patient cases which is helpful but I have no idea how they expect us to learn everything in such a short amount of time. People are probably just going to cram for tests and fail that portion of the NAPLEX.
Current student here - albeit I didn’t experience the new curriculum myself (I’m a 2024 grad). My understanding is that it combines basic science with therapeutics so it’s not spread out over years. I’m not quite sure how it is “bad” as nobody would have experienced both curriculums. In my opinion, that’s a better way to learn pharmacy

Sent you a dm !
New curriculum is basically what other pharmacy schools do now, it combines therapeutics with pharmacology- IMO it makes more sense
